My husband was in Pickering Manor. He was there for rehab. That seemed very nice. It was very clean. The room he had was very nice-sized. There was a bathroom, and it had a shower with a seat in it. It had a lot of places to put your clothing. It even had a desk there like a charging station for your cell phone and stuff. Every day, they were cleaning every area. It was just very, very clean. They had a common area where you could all sit and watch the ball game or something. My husband liked the food. I didn't eat there. I sat there with him while he ate, but it looked like he liked the food. He said it was good. The staff was good. They were nice. They were good to them. They have people that come and entertain. They have different things going on every day. The staff was very nice and very friendly.

Pickering Manor was nice, but we decided it was just not for us. I probably like that the better of all the places we visited because it's right in Newtown. We saw a cottage, it was nice. They are older but they keep them updated. I thought it was fairly nice. It has two bedrooms, and two bathrooms and they have its own kitchen. You get ten dinners a month with your fee. I didn't see any of the food, it was in the morning. It seemed well taken care of and it's clean. The cottage is for independent living, but you are offered assisted living if you needed it.

Pickering Manor looked beautiful, but I think I only spent five minutes the whole time there. They didn't even really want to show me around. I was only able to see the rooms because I forced them to show me and I thought the rooms were beautiful. I just found it a little rude that it had to be me saying, "Can I see a room? Can I see something?". That was my main problem. I live in the same neighborhood, so I found it very rude that I am in the same township.

My mom moved into Pickering Manor in Newtown and they've been great. There's a lot of activities, socialization, and good food. She initially had rehab there but she is not doing well, she's declining quickly. We had wanted to put her in assisted living and that just didn't work out so she's in skilled nursing now. She loves the meals there, they have a chef and he comes right to their table. It's really expensive though. It's $12000 a month so that's going to hit us hard but we don't have any other options. I also don't have any other place that I would put her. I don't know what I would do if I didn't find this place.

Pickering Manor is a very nice, very clean, and a very well run place. They have a limited number of units, so I'm not sure that it is necessarily a place for me. However, I was very impressed with the assisted living. It's a good place. I had been there at other times seeing other people, and it was always very clean, and the staff was always very helpful. I was impressed with the staff.

I was very pleased with the accommodations at Pickering Manor. They showed us almost like a twin home that was like an apartment. It was very nice. The staff was very helpful. I think each one is provided ten meals a month, but they deliver them to you. That was kind of a drawback.

We're moving my mother-in-law into Pickering Manor. I have come across this facility by word of mouth. My mother-in-law will be moving into their nursing home facility because she has Alzheimer's. She wouldn't be eligible for their assisted living. Because Pickering Manor was an older facility, their rooms were rather small. That's the biggest disappointment for us. However, they did have large windows so you would be able to look out and see pleasant surrounding because this facility was in a beautiful setting. The staff's work attitude was very good. They seemed to be very caring of the residents. They also seemed well trained and observant with picking up the needs of the residents. That's the main reason we're going with this place. For activities though, they have bus trips to various places.
