The Best Nursing Home Communities in Hunterdon County, NJ

"My parent was here to recover from a difficult operation for about 2 months. My family was so impressed with the professionalism & kind treatment my mother received. They catered to her every need and went above and beyond what we expected. The facility is slightly older but very, very clean. The staff was always accessible if we had questions & we always felt welcome to visit at any time of day. My mothers roommate, who was also recovering from an operation, said that she had been to 2 other facilities prior to coming to Country Arch and this far better & exceeded the care she received at the other locations. I can't say enough good things about this facility & staff. If any other family members are in need, this is where we will go. It's hard to know where to bring your loved ones in time of need. We checked other facilities and were not impressed. Country Arch is really a very good facility. The staff could not have been nicer or more attentive. "

"Foothill Acres Rehabilitation & Nursing Center has been good generally, but I'm lacking physical therapy and I need that. Most of the staff here are very good and very caring. The nurses are great, but there are few aides that have not treated me very well. I have a beautiful room. It's a big, spacious private room, and I've been very happy with it. The place is very, very clean. They're here every day cleaning and doing the floors outside and inside. It's very pretty. The food is not good at all though, and it's a major complaint of all the residents here. They're trying, but they're not succeeding."

"My father in law, who suffered with alzheimers disease, was a resident at Bridgeway for about three years, until his passing away 10 months ago. The nursing staff, RNs, LPNs, CNAs, treated him like he was their top patient! In fact, they treated ALL their patients with respect and dignity and care. For a nursing facility, they were/are by far, outstanding! "

"My aunt is at Rehab at River's Edge. They seemed to be OK with her, she's happy, and has no complaints with being there. We really have to have a lot of contact because we are not allowed to go there. The rehabilitation people have called a lot of times to let us know what her status is, and that kind of stuff, so there's no problems. She likes the food, she's happy with the food, and she has no complaints about anything. From what I've seen I've only been in the main lobby part of it, and it's in very good condition I have never been into the rooms. They don't allow the visits."

"My mother is at River's Edge. The staff is helpful, but understaffed on the weekend. They’re very helpful people though, and they have activities. My mother is in a shared room. The housekeeping does a good job. They clean adequately. The rooms are spacious. There are small closets. "

"We liked Bridgeway Care and Rehab Center at Hillsborough very much. It was one of the newer and cleaner places. It had large windows and a high ceiling in the lobby, and it just felt very airy. The rooms were much larger than the place that my sister is in now. The bedrooms were shared and the bathroom was only shared by those 2 people. The bathroom was huge and it got a huge walk-in shower and they provided the shower chairs and the commodes to go over the toilet so that they have arms and they can stand easily. The showers have all kinds of rails in them for safety. The furniture was new and it looked very comfortable. They provided flat-screen TVs for all the residents. I've visited at times when most of the residents were in activities. So, I've seen them playing bingo and Family Feud. The schedule for the activities was extensive and they all looked so happy. They explained to us that they have a printed menu and the residents will have a choice, and it's also online. So, I can just go online and read the menu to her so she can have a choice. Their rehab facility was pretty large and it had a lot of machines."

"I had one woman whom I talked with at The Avalon at Hillsborough who was very informative. She sat down with me and talked over finances. I think it all went pretty smoothly. The place was laid out pretty nicely with a dining room set up like a nice restaurant. They seemed to have a lot of activities, a theater room, a pool table outside, and a little stand for popcorn or candies. "

"Brakeley Park Center was very clean, it seemed to be well-managed, and the staff was exceptionally kind and attentive. Most of the rooms were semi-private, and the private rooms shared a bathroom with a private room next to it. They use the same staff members as the skilled nursing and rehab center in a separate building, so I think the delivery of service and activities are geared more toward a nursing home than assisted living."

"If you are thinking of putting a loved one in the New Jersey Eastern Star Home in Bridgewater NJ, you may want to hear about my terrible experience. My father was transferred to that facility from the hospital. The facility was given time to look over his records and after that, accepted the transfer. When we arrived in his room, it was obvious that the room had not been cleaned. The toilet was filthy, there were no toiletries, the pillowcase was soiled, and the phone was also dirty. I showed it to the staff member in the room and there was very little reaction. This leads me to believe it is not unusual. That should have been a clue that this facility was not going to work out. The following day we receive a call that he was being discharged. They said he would not be eligible for services because he would not make any progress with rehab. They determined that in less than 12 hours. We wanted to know why they would not even give him a chance to improve and was given no reason. We asked to speak to someone clinical to ask why, but no one would speak with us. I left multiple messages for the rehab director to call me back, but she did not. I email her and the Administrator and neither called me, even though I said it was urgent. To this day, they still have not returned my calls or emails. Now we were faced with no time to investigate another facility. We should have been given three days noticed before they discharged him, but we were not. We had to scramble to find a facility that would take him. Based on this experience, I would not recommend that you put a loved one in this facility. If an urgent matter should arise, you cannot be sure that your issue will be addressed. This facility does not take urgent matters seriously."

"The care was very good but they could use more help. Food was acceptable. In general it seemed well kept for all of the use it gets. Someone is always cleaning. The aides and staff are a United Nations of people. PT seems acceptable, they all care about their patients. I am happy with my stay. Advocates are around to smooth out problems. Residents in rehab are very old. "

"The staff and the caregivers at The Gardens at Easton are very courteous and compassionate. I have a single, clean room. They are in the process of remodeling the rooms here. The outside grounds look very nice from what I can see, but I have never been there yet."
