"The staff at Phoebe Home was very nice. They didn’t try to push me into getting it, that’s what a lot of them do; they left it up to me. They didn’t rush me at all and they answered any questions I had. It could have been a little better but I can’t complain because they were helpful when they can be. They’re so busy sometimes you didn’t get the attention that you really needed, but they were pretty good. I was really happy with them. The place is clean all the time. They’re always doing some sort of cleaning - mopping the floor, cleaning windows. It has a cheery environment and they’re so nice to the residents; anything they need, they help them right away. I like that about them and they listen. They have all of activities there. One day, they put them on a bus and off they went to see a movie. The residents were thrilled that they could get out of there for a while and go watch a movie. They do have bible studies too. "

"We went on a tour here. We had a nice luncheon there, and the food was good. They showed us a cottage that had been redone. It was very interesting. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. They have various activities and they also had gardening facilities and even woodworking. The main concern we had was there were no covered walkways, although they had transportation between the cottages and the main building."

"We loved Manor at York Town. It felt like a boutique hotel. The staff was very friendly. They have a coffee shop, they have a bar, and they have a beautiful indoor pool. The grounds were great, and from our point of view, we liked the fact that it was very small. The accommodations were apartments, and they had a good selection of single-bedroom to two-bedroom-and-den. We ate there, and the food was 5. If you choose to have meals, you get a budget and you can use it for breakfast, lunch, or dinner."

"Shepherd’s Crossing is very close to where I live right now. I know other people that live there very happily. The staff was very fine, and I like the fact that I can have my own home with a two-bedroom which is quite lovely. "

"Ann's Choice was beautiful and it looked very impressive, but it's also extremely expensive. I've heard good things about them from my friends."

"My mom is on Elm Terrace Gardens' waiting list. I thought this facility was welcoming and homey. The residents there looked clean, well cared for and content. The room that I saw I thought would meet my mom's needs. The staff was very helpful, friendly, and sincere. They said they would get back to me and they did. We did talk about their activities and they did have regularly scheduled activities. That's one of the things that made me choose them. "

"The Community at Rockhill is very nice. It's pretty. It's beautiful in the way it overlooks the grounds. They have this big glass window that is filling the floor. It's beautifully lit. What I don't like about the facility is that they're owned by another community. And if you're into activities and stuff, you got to get the bus and go over to this other community. The bus runs between the two. I am sight impaired, I don't like to go out and step on a bus in the middle of winter, or anything to go over there. The Community at Rockhill has a few activities, but not nearly what this other place has since they're owned by them, and that's what I have again. The rooms are not big, but they're nice and well-kept. They would re-do if you wanted to move in, like most of them do. The staff who gave the tour was very nice. It's beautifully cleaned and painted."

"If I had the money, I would move into Foulkeways Gwynedd tomorrow. But it is too expensive for me; otherwise, it is a wonderful community. I have friends who live there, and I would be very comfortable with the people. I like their philosophy, and the food is excellent. It is a very nice place, and they have lots of things. They are redoing a lot of their apartments, and everything is 1-story, so everybody has a patio, which is really nice. They were designed like that, so that you are not walking down long hallways or covered walkways. If you need assistance getting back and forth to the dining room, somebody would come with a golf cart or anything, but it gets you outside each day. That is their philosophy, and I really like that idea."

"Gwynedd Estates was very well-run and nice. Everybody was hospitable, but it is a CCRC, and the entrance fee is not refundable. The units were also rather small, so I wasn't interested."

"This place was one of the best things my mother ever did. It was perfect for her as she lived there for almost 30 years. And she did get to stay in all of their diferant wings such as assisted living and the nursing wing. All of this is there and I can tell you from many visits I always found it to be clean, operated by knowledgeable staff who liked what they did. To me this means a lot. All in all a great place. "

"I toured Southampton Estates. I like it. It's on a lot of ground where you can take your animal out and take a walk or ride a bicycle. They're on a major road, but they're way back, so you get lots of room. To me, it was very good. The fitness center was there, and the pool was there. They have a whole connected system where you can go from one building to another without going outside. I saw a lot of good things there. The food was good, just that the name of them were fancy, but they were sandwiches. They gave me a snack and a drink. The food was very good. It was very nicely done. I was very pleased with a lot of things. I didn't see many things that were pulling me away from it except, of course, these things are expensive and the better they are, the more expensive they are, but that's OK, you're paying for that."

"Lutheran was one of the places we were considering, but it was too far from where my daughter lives. They have homes, apartments, and other facilities. The rooms are roomier than the other places. They have church services, and they have bus trips. The staff seemed friendly and active."

"Brittany Pointe Estates is close to my neighborhood so I visited the place. It's a very nice facility with good food. The people are very pleasant and professional. They met the needs of their clients. What I like the best is that they have continuing care. As you get older and need more care, you don't need to leave the place and go somewhere else. "

"I visited Souderton Mennonite Homes. It was old, over a hundred years, but it was very nice. The community had a cafe, and a place for people to gather, and it seemed very friendly. I was impressed with that. They have cottages and villas, but they have a 4-5 year waiting list. They take people out, they have indoor exercise in the pool, chess, Bridge, and clothing group. They have apartments that are independent living."
