My mother-in-law is in Braswell's Mediterranean Gardens. It's OK, and it's adequate, but she's in lockdown. However, they're taking care of her all right. I don't like the inside environment, I don't like the whole look, the rooms, and everything; it's plain. It's a one room studio that's probably 12x12. We don't like that there's not even a lot of places for visitors to sit, but now we have to talk to her through the screen in the back, and it sucks. There's an outdoor area, but it's very plain, nothing special.

Over the past several years, the level of care has steadily declined. High turnover rate of staff who are too few per shift and overworked. Van provided for residents is often not functioning, and the number of stops for shopping, medical appts., and banking has shrunk to less than a 5-mile radius. Meals provided lack decent nutrition (high empty carbs, low protein). It seems like many residents have physical/mental needs beyond the scope of "assisted living" care and relatively few participate in provided activities. The dining room has not been remodeled since the place opened in the 1970s.

We are very pleased with Braswell Family Senior Care for my mom. I chose it because I like the price, the cleanliness, and the helpfulness of the staff. There are many things I like about this place. They have many games, go shopping every day if they want, and have a lot of things for a resident to do.

My brother stayed in Braswell. It was good, and the people were very nice, but we had to drive 100 miles to go back and forth.

What I didn’t like about Braswell's was that when the staff let us into a shared room, there was somebody in the room. The staff was nice and professional. They did get back to me right away with information. However, the facility needed updating. There were a lot of older groups of people who didn’t seem as active. They did have a list of activities, which is good, but the facility could be updated. I didn’t like the shared room. They should have showed me an empty one or asked a tenant because I didn’t know if it was OK to just open somebody’s door. I didn’t appreciate that.

I went to Braswell's Mediterranean Gardens. I don’t think they had anything available at the time. The staff just opened the door of the one of the rooms and let me look at that. The other staff that we met was friendly, but the one that showed me around was like, “This is it.” She was not into it. However, the residents seemed happy and friendly. Also they had activities.

I've been really happy with Braswell's Mediterranean Gardens for my cousin. The rooms are really clean and neat. They have remodeled them and before he moved in, they shampooed the carpets and it looks like they have all new furniture in the room. He is in a semi-private room and they have been really good with me. I am trying to work with social security because he has nothing. I happen to be a relative within the area, but no one else lives in the area so I have been trying to work finances and all of that. The food seemed good because he is a chef and I did not hear him complain about it.

This is an Assisted Living Facility. When you enter this facility the dining room is on the right side and the Administrator on the left. Meal time is assigned seating. The residents who are not able to feed themselves will be assisted if needed. Sometimes there is live music during meals. That's a nice touch. This is an older facility therefore the decor looks 70's. The staff are very knowledgeable of the patients I have seen. The staff also appear attentive and friendly. The rooms are private and semi private. I have a patient that has a private room which she likes very much. It was also revealed to me the food is so so, however the resident feels safe and comfortable living there. I enjoy visiting this facility.
