Although we didn't have the opportunity to sample the food firsthand, our visit coincided with lunchtime, and it was heartening to see the residents thoroughly enjoying their meals. The positive feedback from those around us confirmed the quality of the dining experience. The community offers an impressive range of amenities, and the staff was friendly and attentive. The kitchen, dining area, and bedrooms were all beautifully designed and maintained. I decided to move my father into this facility and I am very happy with it. "My tour at Hacienda Senior Living Assisted Living & Memory Care was very informative. They're very caring people. It looked clean. The apartments were organized, clean, and well-kept. The staff who gave the tour was very accommodating, helpful, and knowledgeable. They have a very beautiful courtyard area. There are trees, grass, and fountains."

"The staff is very good. They're kind to us and they are more than willing to help us with anything we need. I like the activities. They give us a table where we can do puzzles every day in the activity room. We also play bingo and poker. They also have a lot of barbecues and they even had a pageant during the summer. We go out once a month to eat and go to a sightseeing trip. Whatever they do, we're involved. The rooms are adequate and the food is very good. I'm very happy here. We also have a non-denominational meeting every Sunday for church. But I'd like to have a Catholic mass once a month, where priest would come in and say mass for us. That's what I like and my personal feeling."

"My friend put a deposit in, but she changed her mind and didn't moved in. So she's still in her home bored to death because she can't go anywhere. We were quite happy with the information we got. Everybody we talked to was fine. It's just she backed out. Although, I think the reason she liked Emeritus Senior Living is because the decor was dark rather than bright and light. It was cozier since the decor was darker. The residents seem to be happy. It was clean. We tasted the food and we ate well. I didn't notice anything that would cause any worry or wonder about the situation. "

"We toured. The studio rooms were very small with no kitchenettes. The staff was friendly and informative. The facility was in good condition. It appeared to be neat, clean, and well-maintained."

"We are going with Buena Vista Assisted Living. My mother-in-law hasn't moved in yet, but it's more intimate because it's a little bit smaller of a facility. It seems very much like more of a home. Everyone that I met that worked there was very nice and friendly, and everyone seemed very helpful. The rooms were sort of like a studio. It's like a bedroom- living room kind of all in one, and then the bathroom. Each one has its own, so there's no shared rooms. Every time I've been in there, everything seems really nice. The dining area seems very nice. It's like a large home kitchen kind of dining area, where everybody comes together and sits. They have a little beauty salon. They have classes, but I don't know much about them yet."

"My loved one is at Pico de Loro. I liked the fact that it’s a closed community and that they're able to take care of his needs. What we need is memory care, which they are able to provide. He has Alzheimer’s, and he’s a wanderer. They have exercises and special outings where they’re watched like hawks. They do arts and crafts and things to help them at least with their motor development and, in his case, he likes to build model airplanes, so that works out really well. The rooms are large and completely furnished. I don’t have to buy comforters for him anymore because they provide them. Right now, I’m going to give them a 4 because I haven’t been able to get out there to physically look at it, but I feel pretty comfortable with it. I talk to them probably every week or every 10 days to get updates. "

"My mom is in Westmont Village Assisted Living. She is in for independent living, but she does have a nurse come in once a week, she has housekeeping, and her meals are provided. What I like best is the actual property itself. It is a 150-acre facility, and it is set up as a normal-looking suburban neighborhood. They have a mixture of apartments, duplexes, and four-bedroom houses; it looks like a common neighborhood. They have the assisted living, and they call them cottages, but they're apartments. It's a little bit more upscale looking than the plethora of nursing home facilities. It's not as utilitarian looking, because it's hard for people to swallow the whole nursing home scenario. For decades that has been a derogatory term, so I think they have definitely pulled off the aesthetics to where it doesn't reek of urine and string peas. (I worked at different facilities as a hospice volunteer and have some experience.) The food there is excellent. I lived with mom for almost a month over there to get her settled in. She has a two-bedroom place, and I partook in their food. They have a lovely variety of nutritious food, with good quantity and quality. I didn't have anything bad there or taste anything like hospital food. Activity-wise it is difficult to judge any facilities on what they offer at this point because of COVID restrictions. According to their calendar, I could tell they have had different activities planned for the different levels of care, from the memory care to the assisted living. They even offered group activities for those in the independent living. Right now, my mom is going on a group outdoor walk once a week; everybody is kind of stuck in that situation because of COVID. My mom's room is very clean. When we moved in, it was like moving into a brand-new house. When the facility was first built, it was built for the March Air Force Base officers because it's just around the corner from them. It is a big facility out here in Riverside, and it is next door to the national cemetery. It was built for all the officers, so everything was not like your typical cookie-cutter subdivision; it was aesthetically pleasing. I would say in today's market it would be comparable to any house anywhere else in the community. They are not anything less than what a regular family would buy. The staff don't seem to have their stuff together. Westmont has changed hands at least three times over the last decade. Westmont is the most recent owner, and being there with mom, I could hear other residents speak. I talked with residents who had been there for a good number of years, and they are not happy with Westmont management. I think the staff lacks experience, and they don't seem to have it all together. For example, I needed to get some things taken care of, such as her life-alert system because it was malfunctioning. It took almost a week to get that taken care of. They don't seem to have a broad understanding. The front desk, which is considered to be the hub, has young girls working who don't really have good customer service."

"We're very happy with Erwin Lake, and my father has been there since early December. He is bedridden at this point, so there is not an awful lot that he can do as far as external activities. He hasn't complained about the food, the people there take care of him very well, and his room is very nice. All indications are that he is happy there. My mother and father had been there before, and it turned out we were familiar with it. I would recommend them. They've been very helpful. "

"My experience with this assisted living provider was always pleasant. The accommodation was ideal, with each person receiving their own room and only about 10-15 people per 'cottage'. There would be group activities such as crafts or exercising in the main house to encourage inter-cottage relationships. The staff was always pleasant and helpful and there was a small medical team, dentist, and beautician on site. There was also a free shuttle service for those who were able and wanting to go shopping. All food was made on-site in view of the residents of each cottage. Each meal was healthy and balanced with several options per meal. On site were also several 'lock-down' cottages to house those with dementia. Despite not being let outside unsupervised, these cottages worked just like the rest with no difference in care or aptitude of the staff. Staff was always around to help and answer questions for both family members and residents. "

"I went here. The staff was great and knowledgeable. It's a really beautiful facility. The dining area was clean and well-stocked. It's a gorgeous facility. It didn't look like a nursing home. They have a movie room, a game room, an outside patio, and a TV room downstairs. They did not take me to the memory care area because it's a locked area. They have a central courtyard with locked gates, so residents could get out that way, but they couldn't go anywhere."
