Located in Orange County in sunny southern California, La Habra is a town of around 60,000 people. About 12% of the city’s residents are over age 65. Though La Habra is close to bustling Los Angeles, its suburban pace of life is more serene. Annual festivals such as the Citrus Fair, Tamale Festival and Helicopter Egg Drop offer entertainment and a sense of community. Art lovers can take in a show at the Mysterium Theater or visit the Orange County Museum of Art, which features special exhibits on pop and contemporary art. Plus, residents over age 60 can ride the La Habra shuttle for free on their way to places such as the local senior center or Westridge Golf Club.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
