60+ years old. The residents' favorite things to do during their wake hours varies. Thus, our home patterns our activities depending on our residents' preferences.

Our home offers Music Therapy, Karaoke and Movie Nights, Board & Group Games, Gardening, Faith-enrichment Activities, Social Activities with volunteers, families and friends, and Pet Therapy.

Our home is 5 to 10 minutes away from Community Parks and Shopping complexes. Our neighborhood is relatively safe for morning and afternoon walks. You will see lots of joggers, both young and senior, doing their morning or afternoon exercise.

Administrator and Owner contact Resident's family via phone and email right away as the need arises. We keep our social media accounts (Facebook & Instagram) updated and we post notices on them and on our website. At daytime (6 AM to 6 PM), our staff ration is 1 staff per 3 residents. At night, we have a Wake Staff ready to assist our residents' needs. Administrator and owner live on-site for 24 hr. support.

Using our experience and professional training, our goal is to keep our residents with memory problems engaged or "busy" at all times. To achieve this, we have planned activities specially-designed for residents with dementia and/or memory issues. We partner with Alzheimer's Association for additional support and resources.

Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?

Prior to admission, we request documents from the facilities the residents was previously at. As for their health, we require a signed Physician's Report (LIC 602) and their social workers' assessments and their cognitive functioning assessment performed by a licensed psychologist. Administrator, Licensee conduct the pre-admission face to face cognitive function assessment (conducted by social workers and licensed nurses). On-going cognitive skills monitoring for any decline.

What techniques does Citrus Pines Senior Living use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?

We offer just one food at a time instead of filling the plate or table with too many options. We are patient and give the resident enough time to finish the meal. We cut the food into small pieces and make it soft enough to eat, which will help with chewing, swallowing, and digesting. We provide encouragement and reward accomplishments.
