"Sunrise was very good all the way around -- the staff, the meals, and the rooms. It was very nice. The grounds were not bad. There was a small parking area in front. The staff was very good too. They also have a variety of activities. They even take you to field trips. "

"Oakmont of Carmichael was an excellent facility. It looked brand new. The tour person and the staff were very knowledgeable. They had different activities going on throughout the day. They have lots of different spaces for them to meet and socialize. They had tried to promote social interaction. They responded to the level of care that my parent would need. It's also extremely pricey, but you get what you pay for. I was very impressed with the whole facility, especially the individualization of the programs that they seem to be able to do there. I got to see the one private room. Even the shared rooms did not seem crowded there. They gave a feeling of space. The private room was big enough to make it accommodating for a few personal items. The bathroom was very spacious. The staff was very helpful, very understanding of the process that we're going through, and talked about having support for the family. The anecdotes showed how they individualized for a person's needs and their difficulties transitioning. They let them have the freedom that they could have in choosing their menu or items. It was a fast-food kind of thing, but they would assist them with their dining. They have several options for the main meals and then snacks throughout the day. So that was a nice and homey feeling for a dining area."

"Oakmont of Fair Oaks is wonderful as far as activities go. The activities director included us in a painting class that we attended with the residents. It was great to see that the residents were happy and engaged and getting some really meaningful, high-quality activities. We saw the dining area, which was where our activity was. It's clean, professional, and high-class. They knew the residents on a first-name basis. It's in a good central location. The grounds are well kept. It looks new. It looks like a very new facility."

"Sto. Thomas Guest Home was not so clean and organized. It was a little bit chaotic although the people were charming. I really enjoyed the couple that were running the place, and they seemed to take joy in the residents. The physical environment was not good, but the people were delightful, very caring, and seemed to have a really good relationship with the residents. It looked like they only had 2 residents at the time. They take them out and there was a lot more interaction than just simple caregiving. Whatever the residents want to eat, they will cook them that meal. The rooms would have been too small for my mom. "

"My sister and brother-in-law moved into Cogir of Stock Ranch Senior Living. They seem to be happy enough with the food. They have very nice happy hours twice a week, and then another show, usually around three entertainment shows a week. We looked at a lot of places, and this had very good ratings, and it was very, very nice. The place is kept very clean. Everybody is very nice, so no complaints. The staff is very good. They're all very friendly and helpful. The dining area is beautiful and very clean."

It was a difficult decision to make of helping my mom transition into a more supervised care environment with a lot of emotion attached to it and everyone at Apple Ridge has been so supportive and attentive! Communication when things need to be addressed is always there and the staff is so caring with great attention to detail. The Administration Staff and Wellness Director love what they do and it shows! Everyone here has gone above and beyond and there are not enough words to say how grateful I am. "I toured the assisted living of Almond Heights Senior Living. They have the same types of amenities. Everybody was so kind. They knew all the residents' names as we walked around. We were able to see an apartment, and it was very spacious and nice. They gave us lots of information. Good facilities. We saw some activities going on. When I left, they gave me a box of cookies that the chef made, and they were fantastic. They have a nice little outdoor area with lights. They do some evening activities there. You can go and sit and read there. It was very well kept up. It was very nice. They have a bus, and I met the driver, too."

"We went to Bella Villa Elderly Care. The private room was nice, but not big enough for my brother to bring his small recliner. The facility was very nice. The upkeep was great. They're very friendly. We were treated very well."

"I toured Blossom Vale Senior Living. I liked the actual studio apartment. It was very nice. It had fake wood floors, but they were beautiful. It had a great enclosed deck area looking out to trees and a garden. I only met some people, but they were very friendly, nice, and pleasant. It was clean. It has two living areas and a dining room. It's smaller but homey and comfortable. I think it would be really good for someone who needed a smaller atmosphere."

"My friend moved into All Seasons in Orangevale. It's very, very expensive, but she is getting excellent care. She's practically bedridden. She tries to walk a little bit, but it's very difficult for her. It's a high-level assisted living. I visit her there all the time. It's excellent. You have your own room, and then you can put all your things in the room. They are very clean, very helpful, and very good. They are just very top level. She's paying a top-level price for it, too, but the food is so much better there than where she was. She looks so much better, and they accommodate her diabetic diet. It's like a big home that they have converted into a board and care, and it's just outstanding. It's a beautiful home. Right now, they don't have activities, but you get good value for the money."
