"I toured Summerset Senior Living - Rancho Cordova. The grounds were almost smaller than other places. They were still very nice. Everything was very clean and very organized. They did have a lot of activities, which was nice. I thought the rooms were small as far as space for two people, but they were still very clean, very nice, and everything was current and modern. Jennifer was great. She was very professional, had great advice, covered all the bases very well, and was very accommodating, even when I had to call her and ask questions, she was excellent. I saw the dining area, but I wasn't in a position to stay there and sample the food. I saw staff there and I interacted with some staff. They seemed to be very attentive, caring, and friendly. Everything was maintained well. They had nice extra features whether it be a a sports bar area, a workout room, or things of that nature."

"I toured the memory care of Eskaton Gold River for my husband. The facility is beautiful. The lady who was giving me the tour was interacting with the patients in wheelchairs or walkers walking around in the halls. She knew each of them by name and we must have run into 15 people. She greeted them, asked how they were doing, and had knowledge of them enough to make comments to them that were personal. That was very amazing to me, I thought that was wonderful. The place is clean, beautiful, and very comfortable. The patients looked happy, too. The only downside is the expense of it, which is unbelievable to me. I don't know how people could afford it. The standard rate for a room there is $10,500 a month and that would be more for memory care. If my husband needed other things, it would be even more so that was prohibitive. Even though the VA will cover a significant portion, it would still leave me with more than it would cost me to pay for everything at the other place we also looked into."

"It was memory care only, and the person that we spoke with was very helpful and very caring. The rooms were very tiny. They were trying to put on shows, but it's memory care, and they're not very involved in things. They had a nice outdoor area."

"Mom was a resident for almost three years prior to her death at age 97. Chris and Helen were wonderful, kind, and caring. Mom was very well taken care of and the home is clean. The staff was watchful and she was happy until the last."

"This is a well organized and well run facility. You can see the staff really cares and engages with the residents. Meals are prepared on site and food quality and variety is just like home. The rooms and entire facility are clean and well kept. It is not a large "factory facility" so your loved one will not be lost in the crowd. The administrator and staff keep a close eye on the health concerns and needs of the residents. Very conscientious about taking them to the doctor when needed and making sure medication is available and taken. This care home is as close as you are going to get to providing care yourself."

"My former husband moved into Carlton Senior Living Sacramento. I've been there several times, and several hours each time when I do visit. I'm just impressed with its cleanliness, and with the staff in particular. It's not a new facility, it was built in 1985, but it has the amenities that we thought were important for him. It's clean and doesn't smell. Any nursing home type or assisted living place will occasionally have that, but they don't last longer. They're cleaned up. The staff is so extremely well trained. They speak to him by name and that happened like immediately when he moved in. Somehow every single staff member knew his name almost immediately, and always calls him by name. They're friendly. The response when he has a need, like he has a Foley catheter, it has to be emptied. He has a call button and they come quickly. Every person is polite. Every person has a very pleasant, caring persona. He likes the food and the variety of food. He has nothing negative to say about it. His daughter and I and her husband picked it out, and he says, you found me a good place, and that says a lot. He's happy. He feels like he's in a good place. So far he's not chosen to get into any activities. However, I see lots of activities, and the residents seem to be very busy. They're very active. It's obvious you can be just as active as you care to be or don't care to be."

"We went to Golden Pond, it's close to where my friend lives, and she enjoyed that one tremendously, and liked it. It has a lot of great features that would help her, and it's not multistory so she would be comfortable. She had people there that she could already talk to because she talked Japanese a lot of the time. It's very clean, very well attended. It's got everything they need right there. They don't have to go far for anything, as far as a salon, coffee house, assistance with the people, and the nurses. They have cars that will take them to their appointments if they need to go out. They had quite a lot of features that we liked on it. She's a painter, she likes to paint. They had classes for painting, which she loved. They had a movie theater, they had a library, so she was thrilled with all of that. She liked it a lot. The staff was very attentive and very informational and they took us where we needed to go or where we asked that we could see the facilities and what they had. They were very attentive to everything."

"We toured The Courte At Citrus Heights for my mother. It was excellent. We chose that place until a place nearer offered to take her in. They had a place for crafts and a place for people to just gather. They also have beautiful dining areas and a beautiful outdoor area for the patients. It's just a beautiful place and very pleasant. The staff is very nice and helpful. The people there were also very nice."

"I toured Ivy Park at Sacramento. The people were extremely nice and looked like a wonderful facility. They would take very good care of you. It's a little more controlled than I would look for at first. The only downside is the rooms are kind of small, but they're not bad. It's a beautiful spot, they have a little garden and the very best part is it's near Scripps Drive where the majority of my doctors are located, which is a good thing. I liked it. I'm not ready for it yet. But the people, most of them have walkers, and it just looks like a little more care than I would need. The staff was excellent. They showed me a few menus and they looked fine, and they had sandwiches available all day. I was happy to see that they had a hair salon. And there was one room, if I could get it on the corner of the bottom floor, that looked very nice. But, some of the one-bedrooms are very small. I liked it, it was a typical senior home."

"We toured Oakwood Meadows Assisted Living. It was clean. It was big. The patients are allowed to go outside and do whatever. It looks like a big older-style house. The dining room was really big, and I didn't get to see the rooms themselves, because a lot was going on that day, and it was unexpected for me. I didn't have an appointment or anything. The staff was very nice and very helpful. They went out of their way to try to help me to amend the problems we were having with the issue with the card. The administrator came out and he spoke to me as well. They were very nice."

"We went to Bella Villa Elderly Care. The private room was nice, but not big enough for my brother to bring his small recliner. The facility was very nice. The upkeep was great. They're very friendly. We were treated very well."

"I visited my friend at Sunrise of Fair Oaks and I had lunch in the dining hall with her. I liked that it smelled nice. The decorations and the furnishings were nice. Most of all, she really liked it. The staff was very friendly. We got to meet a lot of people, and they stopped to take time to talk to us. I liked that there was a choice for the food. The facility appeared very clean. It was very beautiful. It had a nice setting and nice landscaping with the trees, which I liked. There were lots of activities to choose from. They had exercises, bingo, movies, and puzzles. They had a library. They also had excursions where they could go do things away from the facility. I would recommend it because my friend likes it there, and to me, the biggest referral is when a resident says they like it."
