Our residents with assisted living needs are 60-70 year-olds with a range of interests and activities.

What makes the chef or dining program at Roseberry Care exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?

Accepted Answer

Roseberry prides itself on providing homestyle cooking, prepared in house from scratch, catered to the needs of our clients. We subscribe to the “food is love” world view and treat menu creation and meal prep as integral to engaging with our residents and integral to team morale by providing staff with a creative opportunity to develop house favorites and special events.

Roseberry also provides an “Anytime Menu” to help residents that require off-hour snacks and other comforts.

What safety features or security measures does Roseberry Care offer to assisted living residents?

Accepted Answer

We have a formal fall prevention program; all gates have voice alarms that alert staff to the location of a specific open gate.

How many staffers are on duty in the daytime and overnight?

Accepted Answer

Depending on the number of clients in residence, we have 2-3 team members on the floor at all times during day and evening shifts in addition to a highly engaged care administrator. We have a single staff member on duty during the overnight shift.

What techniques does Roseberry Care use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?

Accepted Answer

We proactively structure meals for our memory care clients, preparing manageable bites, active mealtime supervision and avoiding items that often pose chose risks, such as lettuce or peanuts.

Lots of hydration is offered during each meal, since it is a great time to encourage and monitor intake. Meal-time is also an opportunity for our staff to engage socially with residents and stimulate interactions with others at the “kitchen table”.

As with our assisted living residents, each resident has a personal care plan developed upon admission and revised as conditions change. Our Resident Care Administrator is personally involved with family updates, care conferences and any incident that may require medical assessment or recommended outside services. Family representatives are also encouraged to stay fully engaged with any of our team members by asking questions and calling for status updates.

Is Roseberry Care affiliated with a hospital if more care is needed?

Like all residential care facilities in the area, we have no direct affiliation with any hospitals, but we are located just two miles from either Sutter Roseville Medical Center or Kaiser Permanente Roseville. We also work frequently with discharge planners and emergency room staff at both facilities to keep communications open and timely for residents in need of acute medical treatments.

We arrange for transportation services to appointments and other activities on an as-needed basis with family involvement.

Roseberry is located in a quiet residential neighborhood, directly across from Roseville High School. Our facility is also just a two minute drive to either Vernon Street in Historic Old Roseville or the Westfield Galleria and the beautiful outdoor Fountains mall.

We currently have a facility emotional support dog in house at Roseberry (“Pab”) that is supervised by our staff and always lights up the day. From time to time, we can accommodate a small dog staying in residence with us.

Roseberry has a team of 24/7 awake staff; We monitor clients with fall risks for movements (e.g., sitting to standing). All gates have voice alarms that alert staff to the location of a specific open gate.

Daily activities include an after-breakfast cognitive activity where we review current events together as a small group. We conduct “sitter-size” movement therapy for most residents. In the afternoons, we have organized puzzle activities and game show answer competitions. Other afternoon activities include lunches on patio and manicures with tea.  
Due to our proximity to Roseville High School, we have also been able to develop a unique partnership with school leadership to engage and supervise high school volunteers who plan creative activities and events via our “Moments at Roseberry” program. Though this program had to be placed on hold during the months of the Covid-19 pandemic, we are working to revive our volunteer engagement with proper safety precautions.

Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?

Our Resident Care Service Director is trained in conducting assessments for incoming residents as well as ongoing monitoring behavioral changes of existing residents. Assessments are repeated formally every six months. We also maintain very engaged coordination with a variety of home health and hospice service professionals to address skin care needs, physical therapy, bathing, and pain management issues. Additionally, we coordinate with community physicians to assist specific medical issues, change in status and behavioral health needs.
