"We toured Charter Senior Living of Oak Openings for my in-laws. We did a walk-through, they were very good, and the lady was very nice. It was a very nice facility, and it was brand new, but I just felt there weren't enough males there for my father-in-law to interact with. Everybody we saw was female, and he needs a man to watch football with and that type of thing. The staff showed us both the assisted living and the memory care. She was very nice, very personable, and knowledgeable, and she was a very nice person. They just opened so they don't have many people there yet. She gave us a dessert and a soup for visiting, and it was fine."

"We needed a place for my ailing father to recuperate and my doctor's office suggested Aspen Grove. The facility is wonderful. It is clean, bright and well maintained. The staff are very friendly and always helpful. Living at Aspen Grove is staying at an upscale hotel with benefits added, like the weekly ice cream social."

"I had an in-person tour of Vibrant Life Temperance. There's only 20 people that are allowed in there. And they only have about eight people in there so far. The people there have better cognizance, and so my mom would be able to talk to them. The main place where they would gather for dinner had a TV where they would socialize. They are more one-on-ones with the people. They have memory care. They do more things with the people to make them try to remember better. The staff members were very nice and caring to the people. They have a good menu. They'll do the diet according to the person. They have a room where they have workout stuff. They had a courtyard or a patio. There are restaurants nearby."

"Maumee Pointe was very nice. It was new so it was a lot nicer and a lot more modern than the other place I toured. The rooms were also more modern. The person who gave the tour was nice, I had no issues with her. We saw the dining area, but we did not taste any food or anything like that, it was pretty and it was an open dining area, it was nice. There were some people in the one area that we saw doing something, it seemed like they had lots of activities for people to do."

"We placed my in-laws at first in the Memory Care Unit, then there were able to move into the regular Assisted Living facility. As with all senior care facilities, there simply is not enough staff. In spite of that, many of the aides and nurses are caring, professional and do the absolute best they can to take care of their residents. The facility has been purchased by the Meridian Group, whose representatives held a meet and greet and promised to address all the issues that were raised. One issue that exists is the fact there isn't an automatic door at the entrance of the main Assisted Living building, and we were all told that would be changed. It is very difficult to get in and out of the building for anyone using a walker or in a wheelchair, which covers the majority of residents. It has been several months, and that issue STILL has not been addressed, in spite of the fact the representative from Meridian said it would be, soon. Truth is, it is a very nice facility, comfortable, clean and the staff really does provide the best care they can. My in-laws like it there, and that is the most important factor in all of this. Granted, they are lucky because they have the financial resources to afford to live there. We are thankful they are able to afford it as well."

"Mom lived in StoryPoint Waterville. However, they promise you things and they don't always communicate with the people of what you're getting. Also, I think it was easier to get lost in there, because of the way it's laid out. Other than that, the facility was very nice. They have a courtyard, a salon, and bingo games for the residents to play."

"Otterbein Pemberville SeniorLife Community was all right but they were so far away from everything, from my kids and my family. The one advantage they had was you could transition from one to the other, from independent to assisted then nursing home without leaving the grounds, which I thought was nice. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly, and they weren't pushy or anything. They took their time to show us everything."

"The first thing that I thought when I stepped into the facility was wow! It looks more like a home than an assisted living place. I felt very comfortable with my grand mother being there. The furnishings were nice and clean. There was no medicine smell in the place. There was ample security so I knew she would be safe. The staff was friendly. I would recommend this establishment to any friends or family. The grounds were nice too. There were many activities that my loved one could get involved with as well. All in all, a very nice place. "This facility really cared about my grandmother. They knew how stubborn she was and that she would try and leave if she could possibly escape so they kept her very engaged and kept an eye on her. The staff was wonderful, thoughtful and always there to help. The facility isn't exactly the most beautiful but I think they did well with what they had to use. When my grandmother fell and hurt herself a few weeks before she passed away she was severly cut and bruised and they felt terrible about it and expressed a lot of concern. It was nice that they cared enough but they knew it wasn't something that could have been prevented. The facility had lots of field trips and different things people who were staying there and visiting could do. They did field trips to zoos and museums, and they had a beauty parlor their patients could use. The food was pretty good and they made sure that everyone had something they liked so the patient wouldn't skip out on their meals. They had weekly crafts, bingo and other interactive activities to keep people from staying in their rooms all the time. They also allowed for you to decorate and buy things to make your room feel like home. Altogether our family was pleased with how our grandmother was cared for. "

"Alice Lorraine called themselves a senior foster home, so it's assisted living. They seemed pretty nice and pretty good. They had a maximum of 20 people there. They had nice facilities and a lot of light because they had big windows in the dining, community, and individual rooms. Not all of the rooms had private beds, and some of the rooms had community rooms. The personnel were great. "

"My mother is in Charlotte Stephenson. It is a very attractive building and has very warm feeling. The attendants are pleasant and caring. The rooms are clean. My mother is moving to a larger room next week. The bathroom is immaculate, spacious, and very safe. They empty the waste basket in the room every day. We are very pleased with the care. They offer activities every day, and everything seems to be fine. They accommodate Father for a modest fee. He has dinner with Mother every night at a special table set aside so the two of them may eat together. We are very happy with it."

"Sunset House was expensive. They require a bit of money to live there, but it was very nice. It had everything that one would need or want. They had restaurant-style living. They were very informal about breakfast -- i.e., you could come down any time and have it. They definitely have levels of care and assistance. Once you got settled there, you never had to leave. However, the staff was not accommodating as much. It was less accommodating and less friendly, but they had everything that one would want. "

"It was a wonderful community. Their staff had been there quite a long time, and they just seemed like really terrific people who care. When we visited, the residents seemed pleased and expressed their pleasure in the community. It was clean. We saw several rooms, and they were all private. They were clean and well taken care of. When my husband and I get to that point, this is something we would consider for ourselves. The staff seemed like really fabulous folks. We appreciated their level of care."
