"I did an in-person tour of The Waterford in Perrysburg. It was very informative, very pleasant, and overall, it was a good experience. The staff was pleasant, informative, and helpful. We got to see the rooms, and we walked around, so we also got to see the activities. We got to see the little pub where they have cocktail hours. We saw the dining facility and the library. I think we saw everything that we could have. The rooms we saw were very spacious and clean. For activities, they have exercise, bocce-ball competitions, some movies, and cocktail hours."

"During Covid we moved our Mother to Story Point. The Staff made this difficult transaction / handoff happen under the worst of times in 2020. My brothers and sisters and I are very happy with the loving care, safe environment and attention our mother receives. The activities everyday is a great benefit to our mother. "

"I went to Otterbein Pemberville SeniorLife Community. The place was beautiful. I think anybody would be happy to be there. I just didn't like the long drive to get there. That was my only objection. As for the staff, whoever we passed in the hallway, everybody spoke. It was like a big family. You were not a stranger. Even before my tour guide introduced me, everybody was so friendly. I just couldn't get over that. They had a laundry room, exercise, places, little sitting rooms, and a big sitting room. I don't think you would get lonesome if you went there. If the road going there was a little shorter, I would go there in a minute. It's still on top of my list. It's fabulous."

"My mother lives in The Woodlands at Sunset House. She is in a two-bedroom, two-bath home with fireplace and cathedral ceilings. It is gorgeous. It's 2100 square feet and way more than she needs. They provide breakfast and dinner. There's a hairdresser on site while they bring in bookmobiles and local banks. They provide transportation to grocery stores every week and to and from doctor's appointments. My mother loves the food. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. There is a low turnover, with the exception of the young people that work in the dining room in the evenings since a lot of them are college students. The core staff is the same all the time. It is the most expensive in our community, but they do a good job. They have an activities director and they have movies twice a week, they bring in musicians, hold a cocktail hour every other Friday night, and trips to local restaurants or the theater. Pets are allowed, as many as you would like, as long as you are capable of taking care of them."

"Reynolds Senior Village was a manufactured home community. It was handicapped-accessible. It was more like a rented home. It was nice because the rent was not that expensive, but they didn't have a nurse on call. It had stairs. The only good thing about it was that it was an open community where you could stand outside and have your own space. I spoke to the staff several times over the phone, and when I came in, she knew exactly who I was. She showed me around, and she was accommodating. No meals are included. The facility was clean."

"The one I like the most was Swan Creek. It had everything. It had restaurant-style dining, it had a kitchen and a bath, and the apartment was fully equipped. It had different levels of care, so you would never be asked to leave. They have a library, but they didn't have a pool. They have everything everybody else has and maybe even more. They have the same level of activities. They have a fit room. They also have a happy hour. "

"We are going to the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek. They are controlled by the Lutheran Society. We chose this place because the monthly rate was quite a bit lower than a couple of the other ones we looked at, and everybody we talked to said they really love it there. The campus is beautiful. It is just so well kept up. The staff seemed to perfectly willing to work with us in all ways. The residents that we met there all seemed really happy with everything. We are moving into the ILF, and we have a small apartment -- a two-bedroom, bath and a half apartment. They have different apartments. They are versatile in what you really want and need. Regarding food, they only serve dinner. As for activities, the reason why we are going there was because you are free to do what you want to do. You don't have to stay at their building to do everything. They do have workshops for men and women. They do have a couple of workout rooms and craft rooms. They have bus services available to take you to the doctor, and they go shopping once a week. If you don't want to drive yourself, you can use that facility. "

"My sister decided to stay at Luther Haus. They have activities and church on Sundays. They have bingo a couple of days a week, and they have parties occasionally. They get together and have dinners. They have a place for puzzles. They have a library and they also hold meetings there. The facility is nice and clean, and it's out in the country. It has a big yard with a nice gazebo. My sister has a 1-bedroom apartment and it is a decent size. They have washers and dryers and an ironing board in a nice laundry room. The building is older, but it is well-kept. They have a social coordinator there. The staff is very friendly. My sister was hospitalized for 5 weeks and they called and checked on her to see how she was doing, just to let her know that they do care."

"I have been to a lot of nursing homes and assisted living centers while providing support and volunteer work for the community. The Kingston Residence of Sylvania, Ohio far exceeded other facilities! I cannot speak for all of the Kingston facilities as I have not visited them all but I can rant for the one that is located in Sylvania. I would like to comment on a few key points about this facility: the staff is extremely friendly, there is plenty of staff and they all seem to enjoy being there even if it is just for work, the residents seem content yet very happy, the entire place is clean and very well kept, multiple activities and entertainment are provided for the residents that live there, and in general this facility just seems like a very lovely place for any senior citizen. I would recommend Kingston Residence of Sylvania to friends and family, as well as strangers. "

"The resident's rooms are very nice, and kept up to date. Watching the residents interact with each other while Wii bowling was great fun! The staff of this beautiful facility was amazing, showing care and compassion for my Mother. Her favorite was Helen, who is a great asset to this facility, and made Mom smile. During Mom's final days, their heartfelt words were appreciated. "

"We chose to have Mom at The Lakes of Sylvania because she was there for rehab, so the transition from there to assisted living was easy for her as she was familiar with the staff and the caregivers. The facility allowed us to come in and bring the things that would fit into her room. The employees are very nice. The PT department was excellent. Now that she's in the assisted living, they do crafts, bingo games, and a lot of activities with the family. Every Friday, they have a little happy hour where they get drinks and have music, so they have a fairly active schedule. My mom likes the food. It is awesome. They have a family night very frequently for families to come in, as well as brunches and things where families eat with the residents. It's a fairly new facility compared to the others in the area and athough it could be a little cleaner, it's set up very well. The assisted living rooms are roomy. They have a microwave, a small sink, and a small refrigerator so they can have some of their own things. They are very nice with a great big shower room in it."

"My parents moved into Sunset Village seven months ago. Everything is going really well, and they're very happy. The staff is good, right there when my parents need help. The food is very good. They have housekeeping come in once a week to clean the room. It's a nice size, and when you walk in there's a nice living room, a kitchenette, a little refrigerator, and a microwave, but no stove. They have one bedroom, a bathroom, and it's big enough for the two of them. They have different sizes of rooms there. They're in assisted living, but my dad needs a lot of help. They have bingo, music groups come in, they take trips out to stores, they go to a restaurant once a month, they went to a casino this month, and this summer they will have outdoor concerts come to the facility. They have lots of activities if the individuals want to take advantage of it."

"My grandmother was a resident at Heritage in 2008. She had been in 3, or 4 other homes before she arrived here. This was, by far, the best facility she was in. The staff was always friendly, the doctor's cared, the food was good, etc. My grandmother had dementia and often forgot the nurses. They were always patient and respective. She had her own room, which was extremely roomy (under the circumstances) and clean. She was a resident when she passed away and did an excellent job of showing sympathy and respect. I would highly recommend Heritage. "

"Marian Place is near the river and there's a church next door to it. It's very nice and it's a friendly place. The studio was a little too small. For me, it would have been like living in a closet. The person who lives next door to the room that I was interested in went to lunch with me, and we walked around and saw the laundry facilities and that sort of thing. Other than the fact that I was kind of tired that day and it was a little too much walking for me, it was a good place to be. There was a dining room, and it was pretty much taking a tray, collecting your food, and then finding a table. The food was fine. I don't remember quite anymore what we had, but I walk with a walker and they did volunteer a person to carry my tray if I needed it. There were a couple of ladies who were knitting and I think it was some sort of a class. They have computer facilities there that you can use. The lady that we dealt with in the office was ready to retire, and I think she has since retired, but she was very helpful and very friendly. It was clean and tidy and not hard to get around in. With the walkers, sometimes you have to walk around things, but there were no major obstacles for me to navigate or anything. it's probably a little bit expensive for me if I want something more than just a studio."
