"My dad is in assisted living at American House Carpenter. The staff is nice, friendly, and knowledgeable. He said the food is decent. There is no pool, but they have a salon. I talked to him, and from what I've heard, he likes the staff. There are no activities since COVID, like everything else. The facility is clean, decent, and better than some I looked at when I was helping him find a place. His room is all good, very clean, and up to date. I'm satisfied with the care."

"My mother-in-law is in Hampton Manor of Madison Township. We like the place. Everybody is really nice there and it's convenient for us. They're really good with her. She loves it there. The staff is very nice. They take care of the people. She loves the food. We're like, "Where were you at this time?" She goes, "We got to go down and we got to get ice cream." They have different kinds of activities for her. Some people go places and they go in groups. She tells us how much she likes it. She's very happy there. She's in a studio apartment. She pays for it and then she has money after, too."

"The biggest problem we're running into is cost. It's a very nice place only that it's pricey. It's a clean place and the staff was very nice, too. It's a bit expensive so I hope they would have something more affordable for seniors who are not well off, but would be able to enjoy their service. They're definitely an attractive place! The only complaint I have is the price. "

"My parents moved into Sunset Village seven months ago. Everything is going really well, and they're very happy. The staff is good, right there when my parents need help. The food is very good. They have housekeeping come in once a week to clean the room. It's a nice size, and when you walk in there's a nice living room, a kitchenette, a little refrigerator, and a microwave, but no stove. They have one bedroom, a bathroom, and it's big enough for the two of them. They have different sizes of rooms there. They're in assisted living, but my dad needs a lot of help. They have bingo, music groups come in, they take trips out to stores, they go to a restaurant once a month, they went to a casino this month, and this summer they will have outdoor concerts come to the facility. They have lots of activities if the individuals want to take advantage of it."

"I got a positive impression from Brooklyn Living Center. The people were elderly, but they were up and about. The activities director took us around. We saw a nice two-bedroom, which was what we wanted. They had a walking club, showed movies, and played cards. The dining area was set up with round tables and assigned seating according to if you're diabetic or not, so they could bring certain food to certain tables."

"We chose to have Mom at The Lakes of Sylvania because she was there for rehab, so the transition from there to assisted living was easy for her as she was familiar with the staff and the caregivers. The facility allowed us to come in and bring the things that would fit into her room. The employees are very nice. The PT department was excellent. Now that she's in the assisted living, they do crafts, bingo games, and a lot of activities with the family. Every Friday, they have a little happy hour where they get drinks and have music, so they have a fairly active schedule. My mom likes the food. It is awesome. They have a family night very frequently for families to come in, as well as brunches and things where families eat with the residents. It's a fairly new facility compared to the others in the area and athough it could be a little cleaner, it's set up very well. The assisted living rooms are roomy. They have a microwave, a small sink, and a small refrigerator so they can have some of their own things. They are very nice with a great big shower room in it."

"My grandfather had a stroke and has been in and out of Kingston many times as a resident and also for physical therapy. It is a very upscale facility with an amazing staff of nurses and therapists. They always have taken great care of my grandfather. Even though other facilities would have been less expensive, we always have gone back to Kingston because of their care. They have an indoor pool and great facilities for physical therapy of the residents. I also know that their dining is excellent and they even have a beauty shop on-site for the residents!! It's a great place for those who are recovering and those who may never recover. "

"Brecon Village in Saline was really nice and had more of a luxury apartment feel. But I didn’t pick this one, even though they are closer to me, because they were set up so that you can very quickly run up a large bill. They had a lot of a la carte choices, and I thought this was not going to be cost-effective for my dad. The rooms were very large, very light and airy, and everything was immaculate. The bathrooms were big, and the kitchenette was quite large and had a lot of cupboard space. They had the apartment-sized fridges. They had a huge exercise room, and assisted living and independent living in one building. It was a very nice, well-equipped facility. The menu looked like it was from an upscale restaurant. They had so many choices; I was astounded. It was really nice. "

"My mother lives in The Woodlands at Sunset House. She is in a two-bedroom, two-bath home with fireplace and cathedral ceilings. It is gorgeous. It's 2100 square feet and way more than she needs. They provide breakfast and dinner. There's a hairdresser on site while they bring in bookmobiles and local banks. They provide transportation to grocery stores every week and to and from doctor's appointments. My mother loves the food. The staff is wonderful and very helpful. There is a low turnover, with the exception of the young people that work in the dining room in the evenings since a lot of them are college students. The core staff is the same all the time. It is the most expensive in our community, but they do a good job. They have an activities director and they have movies twice a week, they bring in musicians, hold a cocktail hour every other Friday night, and trips to local restaurants or the theater. Pets are allowed, as many as you would like, as long as you are capable of taking care of them."

"My sister decided to stay at Luther Haus. They have activities and church on Sundays. They have bingo a couple of days a week, and they have parties occasionally. They get together and have dinners. They have a place for puzzles. They have a library and they also hold meetings there. The facility is nice and clean, and it's out in the country. It has a big yard with a nice gazebo. My sister has a 1-bedroom apartment and it is a decent size. They have washers and dryers and an ironing board in a nice laundry room. The building is older, but it is well-kept. They have a social coordinator there. The staff is very friendly. My sister was hospitalized for 5 weeks and they called and checked on her to see how she was doing, just to let her know that they do care."

"I volunteered in a variety of areas in this nursing home which also incorporates an assisted living community. While my great-grandfather was alive I wish that this home had been available to him. Not only does it offer a variety of places which make it more of a community than a home, such as a gift shop and a bauuty salon, but the many people who run these locations enjoy their work, and I heard from more than one employee the reason they work at Wolf Creek is because of what they saw at other places when their parents were moved to a home. Many open spaces in the design of the building encourage mingling of patients and visitors and family was always welcomed into activities which often included bingo and card games. The staff also seemed to go the extra effort to make the family feel welcome with a smile or talking about how their loved one missed them. I think its important with a nursing home to make the experience not only pleasant for the elderly, but for their family, because it can be hard seeing a loved one incapable of caring for themself and any extra unpleasantness seems only one more reason to skip the occasional visit. "

"Reynolds Senior Village was a manufactured home community. It was handicapped-accessible. It was more like a rented home. It was nice because the rent was not that expensive, but they didn't have a nurse on call. It had stairs. The only good thing about it was that it was an open community where you could stand outside and have your own space. I spoke to the staff several times over the phone, and when I came in, she knew exactly who I was. She showed me around, and she was accommodating. No meals are included. The facility was clean."
