"I toured Otterbein Senior Life Monclova for my dad, and I went to the one in Monclova. There is also one in Perrysburg. It's a series of five homes, they're all individual homes, and each home has 10 to 12 residents in it. It is a phenomenal concept. It's just a fantastic idea because it's like being at home and each resident has their own bedroom off of the main kitchen and gathering area. It's just great because they do all the cooking. They're kind of like short-order chefs and so whatever time the residents get up, they can eat whatever they want, so they'll just make it right there for them. It's a great idea. But it's like ten thousand dollars a month, so, way out of range. But it's a great facility. One of the houses is for rehab only, and then the other four houses don't differentiate between memory care and assisted living, so everybody's together. Because it's such a small community, the nurses know who's who and who needs a lot. It's like being in my home. It's small and it's easy to keep up. Everything was very clean. Two women who toured me, and they did a great job. They're very friendly and very helpful. They showed me everything they possibly could. It was great. They have a phenomenal outdoor area for their residents and it's like having a backyard. It's gated so that they can't get out, but family can come and have cookouts out there. They have grills and it's cool. I saw them preparing some things and I saw some of the residents eating. I just think it's a great idea because they grocery shop according to what the residents eat. They just get what they need. It's just way out of our price range, but maybe it's good for other people."

"I've been appreciative of The Lakes of Monclova's good care for my husband. Most of the staff are very willing to answer questions, and if my husband requires something special, they listen and do what they can. All of the areas are very kept up and very clean. They're just getting into the activities, but what's interesting is because of COVID, they would point in the direction of everybody's TV and they would play bingo in their rooms. They have a happy hour on Fridays; they're starting to pick up on their activities so they can play the different games and things that people can participate in. The food is good; my husband doesn't dislike their food. Overall, I think they're a good facility and I think they understand the needs of their residents. We've been to a few others before, and I like this the best."

"My mother spent a respite here for one week. She seemed to enjoy it, we didn't have any problems, she did activities. The place was clean, the atmosphere was nice, and the people who worked there were excellent. They had bingo, they did her nails there, they had UNO, and they got a chance to go out in the garden and watch the ducks. She had a two-bedroom, she was in the dementia care unit, but she didn't have a roommate. It was kept clean, she had her own bathroom inside the room, and she was near the front desk, so if she needed someone right away, someone could be there quickly. My family sent my mom flowers twice, and the administrator who I spoke with to help me get in there, took the two and sent them to us, called us, and let us know what was going on, and made us very comfortable. They had a courtyard, and they had a big glass-in container where they had some birds. The residents could go there and watch the birds."

"My friend was a resident of Spring Meadows Extended Care. They were accommodating. My friend was not in very good shape, and that was the problem. It is an older building, but it was kept up okay. They answered all my questions, and they took care of my friend. They had locked down quite a few times, so they took care of it pretty well. And then we were checked when we went into the building too."

"My husband suffered a traumatic brain injury in early 2015. He was at Wolf Creek Village Nursing home for appx six weeks. The nurses, nurse's aides, therapists, etc. were compassionate, attentive and very professional. They not only cared FOR my husband's medical condition, they cared about him and our family! The staff here embraced our family's situation and encouraged and supported us, as well. "

"The Arbors facility is located on the outskirts of Toledo Ohio. The setting leaves a lot to be desired as the facility is situated on a semi busy road right off of a state highway and is adjacent to a shopping center. This drawback is offset however by a friendly staff and clean, modern amenities. I was able to participant in activities overseen by their recreational therapist. The residents were engaged and everyone had a great time for the most part. The residents are treated with respect and patience. I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and caring of the staff during my time there. I would recommend this facility to anyone seeking a nursing home/assisted living solution. "

"We chose to have Mom at The Lakes of Sylvania because she was there for rehab, so the transition from there to assisted living was easy for her as she was familiar with the staff and the caregivers. The facility allowed us to come in and bring the things that would fit into her room. The employees are very nice. The PT department was excellent. Now that she's in the assisted living, they do crafts, bingo games, and a lot of activities with the family. Every Friday, they have a little happy hour where they get drinks and have music, so they have a fairly active schedule. My mom likes the food. It is awesome. They have a family night very frequently for families to come in, as well as brunches and things where families eat with the residents. It's a fairly new facility compared to the others in the area and athough it could be a little cleaner, it's set up very well. The assisted living rooms are roomy. They have a microwave, a small sink, and a small refrigerator so they can have some of their own things. They are very nice with a great big shower room in it."

"My sister-in-law has moved into Otterbein SeniorLife Sunset Village. It was the only one that had the amenities that we were looking for. We were looking for assisted living that went into skilled nursing care at the same facility, and they had to revert from private pay to Medicaid, and it was the only one out of all the facilities that we looked at that would do that. Also, they took her because she had already been their patient in Monclova. It was very nice. It has independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing, and so it's all right there in one place, and it was good for that. They have a very nice campus. They have walking trails. Each separate offering is really on the same campus. In other words, independent living is separate from assisted living, and assisted living is separate from skilled nursing. My sister-in-law's room is a studio apartment. It has a bed area. There's space for sitting so she can sit, look out the window or talk on the phone or something. There is a kitchen area, and I use the term loosely because it has a half refrigerator, a sink, and a microwave. There are no other heating units in there, which is good for safety purposes. They have a dining room. They have a faux post office, if you will, where the residents could buy stamps and they had the mailboxes there and everything. They have an activity room that has a full kitchen and that is available for the residents if they want to bake a cake or something. At the end of each hall, they have a sitting area that is like a living room, and that is in addition to the lobby area. They have what they call ice cream social at least three times a week, and that is like a little café where they offer desserts. They have a laundry room on each floor that the residents can use to do their laundry, and there is no charge for that. The washing machines are free. We met the maintenance people, one of the nursing staff, and one of the activity people. We met a fair amount of them. They were good with the residents. I haven't participated in any activities, but they have two or more a day and they have outings where they can take the residents out."

"My husband stayed at Kingston Care Center of Sylvania for rehab. I would describe that experience as pretty good. My husband has not been one to care to participate in activities too much, but they did have them. Their staff was fairly attentive, but what I'm finding with all of these places is that when you press the call button, it sometimes takes quite a while for someone to come. I know that they're understaffed in most cases, so they can't respond immediately, but when you have an individual who needs help, and it doesn't get there until half an hour to an hour later, it can be pretty frustrating. The upkeep and maintenance were pretty good, though. The food was good, too."

"My husband & I had his grandparents in Kingston,grandma had alzheimers, this was the only place they could stay together! The unit was great, the nursing staff was the best. I can't say enough good things about the head nurse Sue B. I have already told my husband if I get this awful illness thats where I want to go! "

"Ohio Living Swan Creek was a very nice building. The residents were taken care of very well by the staff. I saw a few that were very kind and very good. They were good. It is a nice place. It's clean. I looked at the menu, and the people that were eating there seemed to be fine."

"From the little time I have spent at Fulton Manor, I have come to the conclusion that it is a very pleasant and comfortable place. Although I have only spent a short time there when visiting a longtime friend, I am always pleased by the care that is taking place. The staff seem to know what they are doing, and seem to enjoy the work that they participate in. The residents also seem to like the staff, and I know that my friend who lives there has no complaints about the care from the staff. The facility is also something that I think to be very nice. The rooms are always very clean and well organized. The rooms in which the residents stay are also very pleasant. The rooms are very large, and from what I have seen firsthand they accommodate the needs of the residents. The only complaint about the rooms that I have is that, some of the rooms have to share a bathroom with the room next door. Although no all rooms do, I feel that each room should have its own personal bathroom, so that the residents have more privacy. Overall I feel that it is a very welcoming place, and I would recommend it to anyone. "

"My father was there for a few weeks and I cannot say enough nice about it! The facility is clean and smells nice, not like a typical nursing home can be. The staff is pleasant and the aides are wonderful! I would highly recommend bringing your loved one here!"
