"Since Dad has been a resident at Maumee Pointe, I have seen an increase in his happiness and moods. He speaks highly of all the staff and is truly enjoying himself - for the first time in many years. There are so many activities to choose from and each week, he seems to increase his choices. I am so glad that he is comfortable and enjoying himself. Moving Dad to Maumee Pointe has been the best decision for him and our family."

"My friend is a resident of Brookdale Bowling Green. I think they've been fantastic. They took her at a moment's notice when she was getting out of the hospital, and I have not had one complaint since I've had her there in the last two years. They have them baking, and playing games and they celebrate their birthdays with all kinds of goodies. The staff has been in, even through the pandemic times. They kept all their patients and followed the rules; my friend never got anything, and the doctor and staff did a great job. She's been well cared for, and she doesn't have any complaints. They're always friendly. One of the things that I like about them is their security system, because I had her at another place when she was still pretty well, and she kept getting out of that place. Here, only the staff has the codes and they let you in and out, so that's a nice extra thing as well. I've never had any food, but they seem to have good meals."

"Our parents moved to Oakleaf Village in May of 2015. Mom enjoyed living there almost 4 years, and Dad over 5 years. He passed away in July 2020 of natural causes. We cannot say enough about this incredible Community. Our folks selected Oakleaf having visited friends there and noticing the vibrant Community. It's a unique, caring place filled with amazing staff. They took such great care of our folks. Even during the difficult days of the COVIC-19 pandemic when our Dad was declining (he did not have COVID), they treated our Dad (and us!) with the utmost kindness and respect. Our parents chose very well when they chose Oakleaf Village of Sylvania. Our entire family will forever be grateful for the excellent care, genuine compassion, and true friendship (lots of fun activities!) found at Oakleaf Village. I highly recommend this facility to you. I encourage you to visit and you will see the difference first-hand. "

"I liked Glass Peaks Senior Living very much, and so did my daughter. The bedrooms were a little bit small, but we could fit my husband's queen-size bed in there, and put his dresser in one of the closets. He would have a walk-in shower, and I would have a bathtub in my room that was across the hall. We would sleep in two different bedrooms because my dog would sleep with me. The upkeep was very good. They kept it beautifully. We walked through the dining area, and it was very nice, too. We would have a small kitchenette in our apartment, and I could fix something there for us if we didn't want to go down to the dining room. I could warm up soup or make a sandwich or whatever. The woman who gave the tour was fantastic. She answered all questions and everything for us."

"Since this community will be our final home, where one chooses to live is perhaps the most important feature. Having a one floor independent villa in one of the five courts, gives us the greatest joy and sense of peace that we no longer have to worry about the upkeep of a home. Downsizing in advance by having a house sale, really helped to keep what we brought with us , as those things we treasured. Besides our living space, the beauty of the property was of utmost importance to us, as open spaces, trees surrounding us, woods with trails to walk, and a beautiful view in any direction from our villa. We have a tremendous appreciation of staff who care for residents at all levels, from administration and management to preparation of all meals to nursing and attendants who cover daily duties, to activities directors who encourage involvement. To us one of the most important qualities is being respected as a resident and a member of the community. Being involved and serving where our interests lead us have all helped to allow us to call this our final home with a feeling of gratitude."

"I placed a deposit on Landings of Oregon, and I'm packing to move there. I like all the amenities that they have. Even though it's independent living, they have a nurse that calls you and checks on you every day. If you're not feeling well, she'll come over and take your vitals. If you don't feel good and you don't feel like you can get out, they'll bring you some soup. You pay your rent and you pay nothing else. Everything's included. Cable, wi-fi, all your utilities, everything is included in the price. You don't have to pay any other bills. I have a one bedroom because that's all I need. It has a very nice size bedroom, bathroom, and it has good storage. It's nice for one person. I haven't lived there yet, but it looks very well-kept. The grounds are very well-kept. The lady I've dealt with so far has been super nice. And they introduced me to some of the people that lived there and stuff. I liked it. That's why I chose it. The dining area is very nice looking, very clean. They offer you 30 meals a month included in your rent, so you can pick what and when you want to eat. They have a menu they put out a month, and you can choose what you want to eat that month."

"I didn't have an appointment when I went to Aspen Grove. But the girl at the front desk showed me around. It's beautiful there, and I think if Dad ever needs assisted living, we will take him there because it's close to home. Their prices are about the same as the other assisted living facilities. The staff that I met was really nice. They have a beautiful dining room, a library and game room. The grounds are beautiful, and there's a walking area. Their units are all studio apartments. The staff who gave the tour was awesome, too."

"I toured Vibrant Life Temperance. It was clean and organized, giving off a warm feeling. It's a little like a dormer. They have a bed, a closet, a TV, and a chair, just like a hotel room. I've been working with Nick, and he was good. They can go outside on the deck, and there's a lot for them to do besides sitting in the building. The facility has a little pond with seating and chairs, making it really nice, and they're served three meals a day."

"I toured The Lakes of Monclova for my dad, and I was very, very impressed with them. Their assisted living director showed me around the assisted living. I went through that, and I went to the memory care building. Out there in the memory care building, the person who was in charge was just really phenomenal. She has a great idea and a great plan for the residents. She considers everything - their rhythm and their routines. She schedules everything according to how the residents respond during the day and what their rhythms are. I can't say enough about the memory care side of things. When I walked in, it was right around noon and I said, "Oh, something smells really good." and she said, "Yes, that's exactly what we try to do. We put something in the oven so that they can smell it." All the residents were coming out of their rooms because they could smell the food. They knew that it was mealtime. It was great. What better way to get them out as opposed to going in and dragging them out? She just has a really good grasp on what kinds of activities to do when. It's homey, but it's also that they're being observed. You get the feeling that it's not too big, so that they can't wander off somewhere where they're not seen. It made me feel comfortable that there were enough people around if something were to happen. Something else that I notice is that the residents were very quiet. They weren't agitated, weren't upset, and weren't yelling. I've seen different places where memory care can be very chaotic, and this was not what I saw here. I'm pretty sure that's where we'll end up, but I want mom to take a look, too. When I was there smelling the food, I was watching the people come up. Obviously they were anxious to eat, which doesn't always happen."

"I was extremely impressed with St. Clare Commons. It's a beautiful facility with wonderful staff. That's the place we're going to start working with to try and get my wife in because they have skilled nursing. I'll have to pay out of pocket for a little while but they don't have anywhere near as long of a waiting list as the other places we looked at. We've already started some paperwork to get a full evaluation of my wife to see whether or not it would be a fit both for her and for us financially. We toured their assisted living, as well as long-term care and skilled nursing. It was like going into a resort that's beautiful. All the staff was phenomenal. They were just right on top of things and bent over backward to help me and a friend of mine who's also been going with me on some of these. They were just great, more than congenial, and helpful. A couple of the residents that we talked to were cool people. I have a good feeling about that spot. There are a couple of dining areas there and they're quite warm and inviting. It's right up there with some of the nicer restaurants I've ever eaten at. The rooms were also beautiful. Nicer than some good-level hotels that I've been to. They've got a beautiful library, crafts, and some stuff available. They've got a beautiful campus where there are places you can go outside and soak up some of the sunshine. It also has a very good security system. The whole place is top-notch."

"Mom is at Elizabeth Scott Community. I like that the hallways are not all closed in. There's glass and a sitting area where they can look outside. I like that there's a nurse there and that they clean once a week. If you want, they provide sheets and towels, too. Food is good. The employees are all very nice and very helpful. My mom plays bingo twice a week, and they had an outing the other day."

"Sunshine Children's home offers adult day services and respite care for individuals with developmental disabilities. The property has a number of facilities for these individuals to use from computer labs to gardening areas. The employees were very friendly. They answered my questions with enthusiasm and communicated with the residents just like the would communicated with anyone else. They did not treat them any differently because of their disabilities. The majority of the people who work there have been there for five years plus. The area on which the facility is located is very spacious, I believe it is about 25 acres. There is a main building and then cottages spread out. Many therapeutic activities are available such as horseback riding, animal activities, swimming and arts and crafts. There is a special building for overnight respite care which can be from one night to two weeks so caregivers can get a break. The only negative to this building is that it only contains eight beds so respite care waiting lists are very long. "

"I love the whole community of Genacross Lutheran Services - Wolf Creek Campus. I love the manager, and everyone is very nice and very friendly. They are always taking care of my brother. They are helpful, very kind, and warm. It is very good because it feels like a home. It's a beautiful community. The location is good, as well as what they offer. Their apartments are clean and in good condition. They have bingo, crafts, exercises, and a church (which is something that's important for us). They have all types of amenities. It's a perfect place."

"I had a wonderful lunch tour with my mom. Food is very important to her as she was a chef and the staff was very willing to host us. The lasagna was fantastic! I have to say the staff all seem to work together as if family. Beautiful courtyard! Mom will be moving in sometime in September! We are very excited for her! We had a friend that had a family member live at Kingston Residence for 8 years and was very happy with the communication and care her father received."

"AVIVA Glendale is a small place and it's very nice. I think it'll be perfect for my mother. She doesn't want to go to a gigantic facility. What I like best is that it's all on one floor. There are no elevators. It's more like a cozy feeling. It's a very simple floor plan. There's just one common area and then there are five hallways off of it and that is it. The landscaping was beautiful and I can put a birdfeeder outside her window. She would love that. The place was very clean and it smelled good. The person who I talked to was very knowledgeable and very professional. It was just a good experience in every way. I also like that you have to punch in a code at the door to get out. People can't just leave. The rooms were very nice. They had a lot of activities to offer. We just liked everything about it. Me, my brother and sister-in-law went. We only came into contact with the person who gave us the tour. She told us a lot of things without us asking and answered all of our questions. It was very cheerful. The whole inside, the way they have it decorated and painted and the colors that they chose are very cheerful. It just made a good impression on all of us."
