Sunshine Children's home offers adult day services and respite care for individuals with developmental disabilities. The property has a number of facilities for these individuals to use from computer labs to gardening areas. The employees were very friendly. They answered my questions with enthusiasm and communicated with the residents just like the would communicated with anyone else. They did not treat them any differently because of their disabilities. The majority of the people who work there have been there for five years plus. The area on which the facility is located is very spacious, I believe it is about 25 acres. There is a main building and then cottages spread out. Many therapeutic activities are available such as horseback riding, animal activities, swimming and arts and crafts. There is a special building for overnight respite care which can be from one night to two weeks so caregivers can get a break. The only negative to this building is that it only contains eight beds so respite care waiting lists are very long.
