"This facility is absolutely wonderful. Where do I start? The staff is extremely attentive and caring for every resident. When walking with my grandmother in the hallways, everytime we pass a staff member, he or she makes it a point to say hi, call her by name, make some sort of joke about her, and wish us a great day. They truly get to know those they serve. Then comes the food. The food at this place is to die for and the patients get as much as they want whenever they want. My grandma is not much of an eater, but the staff always makes it a point to offer us something off the snack cart when it comes around. Then are the activites they have for the residents. While I am not too familair with them, I know my grandma enjoys bingo the most. She has won quite a few pies as a result of her for the game. Overall, the facility is wonderful and we could not ask for anything better for our loved one. "

"Recently had to place my grandmother here. She was terrified to come into this type of a setting. This facility took the time to find out what mattered most. They ensured that she was met upon admission and even had a few of her favorite things set up in her room. They took the time to make sure she felt safe an comfortable. I have seen great improvment since her rehab has started, and we are looking to discharge to home soon. A few weeks ago I thought for sure she would never be able to go home. The therapy is excellent she has more energy, and gets around so much better. I cannot thank them enough for giving her back her independence. She loves the food, and has a safe spacious room to stay in, I was really impressed with the variety of activities they offered. Highly reccomend "

"My mother spent a respite here for one week. She seemed to enjoy it, we didn't have any problems, she did activities. The place was clean, the atmosphere was nice, and the people who worked there were excellent. They had bingo, they did her nails there, they had UNO, and they got a chance to go out in the garden and watch the ducks. She had a two-bedroom, she was in the dementia care unit, but she didn't have a roommate. It was kept clean, she had her own bathroom inside the room, and she was near the front desk, so if she needed someone right away, someone could be there quickly. My family sent my mom flowers twice, and the administrator who I spoke with to help me get in there, took the two and sent them to us, called us, and let us know what was going on, and made us very comfortable. They had a courtyard, and they had a big glass-in container where they had some birds. The residents could go there and watch the birds."

"I went to Elizabeth Scott Community. Elizabeth's grandson was the one that actually showed us around and he was excellent. I really liked him. I really loved the facility. The facility was very nice and very upscale. The rooms were much nicer than the other place, but just like the other place they didn't have central heating and air-conditioning. It was like a hotel experience where you have the unit by the window with the control within the unit. As far as the facility goes, one of the things I liked about Elizabeth Scott was regardless of what kind of a room you would get, whether it be a studio or a one-bedroom, you got a full-size refrigerator. The rooms were very, very nice. There were lots of lighting. It's a very bright and very comfortable facility. The decor throughout the facility and all the common areas and everything were very, very nice. It was very clean. The staff was very, very friendly. We actually spoke to residents in the facility about the dining experience, and they all said that the food was excellent. They had a five-star dining experience with the tables with real tablecloths, real plates, and forks, and the menus. It's like going to a five-star dining restaurant. We never ate there, but we did get firsthand testimonials from the residents. The dining facility looked very, very nice. The staff was very open and honest with us. One thing that I really appreciated is that Elizabeth's grandson, who runs the facility, was very honest with us when we asked questions. He admitted that they have staffing shortages just like everywhere. One of the things that he said is that they didn't have anybody available to drive the facility van. To us, it was kind of a big deal to be able to offer the residents any kind of activities outside of the community."

"My mother receives excellent care at Brookview. When I call with questions or concerns, they are addressed. The fact that one nurse has worked there something like 29 years says it all. She's the best, and my mama is fortunate to have the nurses I have met. "

"Otterbein provided great care to my friend up to his passing there. They were attentive and his safety was always their top concern. If he needed anything they accomodated his requests in a timely manner. The staff treated him like family. They went above and beyond and Ashley the Administrator was always supportive and was very knowledgeable when we needed her. We are thankful and happy we chose this facility."

"The Arbors facility is located on the outskirts of Toledo Ohio. The setting leaves a lot to be desired as the facility is situated on a semi busy road right off of a state highway and is adjacent to a shopping center. This drawback is offset however by a friendly staff and clean, modern amenities. I was able to participant in activities overseen by their recreational therapist. The residents were engaged and everyone had a great time for the most part. The residents are treated with respect and patience. I was pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and caring of the staff during my time there. I would recommend this facility to anyone seeking a nursing home/assisted living solution. "

"My parents moved into Sunset Village seven months ago. Everything is going really well, and they're very happy. The staff is good, right there when my parents need help. The food is very good. They have housekeeping come in once a week to clean the room. It's a nice size, and when you walk in there's a nice living room, a kitchenette, a little refrigerator, and a microwave, but no stove. They have one bedroom, a bathroom, and it's big enough for the two of them. They have different sizes of rooms there. They're in assisted living, but my dad needs a lot of help. They have bingo, music groups come in, they take trips out to stores, they go to a restaurant once a month, they went to a casino this month, and this summer they will have outdoor concerts come to the facility. They have lots of activities if the individuals want to take advantage of it."

"The Lakes of Sylvania is excellent and I like the staff's availability. The rooms were great, they're one of the few places where rooms were furnished. The dining area was very clean, nice and open. They had a ton of activities which is one of the things I like about it. They have people doing different kinds of things, like they have exercise and bingo available. What appealed to me was that if my dad wanted to do something there's something he can do with a group. Every day they also had a bus that goes offsite, like going to the grocery store of if you want to get out you'd be able to. I worked with Madison, and she was fabulous. So in comparison to other places I have visited, this place is way ahead."

"I toured The Lakes of Monclova for my dad, and I was very, very impressed with them. Their assisted living director showed me around the assisted living. I went through that, and I went to the memory care building. Out there in the memory care building, the person who was in charge was just really phenomenal. She has a great idea and a great plan for the residents. She considers everything - their rhythm and their routines. She schedules everything according to how the residents respond during the day and what their rhythms are. I can't say enough about the memory care side of things. When I walked in, it was right around noon and I said, "Oh, something smells really good." and she said, "Yes, that's exactly what we try to do. We put something in the oven so that they can smell it." All the residents were coming out of their rooms because they could smell the food. They knew that it was mealtime. It was great. What better way to get them out as opposed to going in and dragging them out? She just has a really good grasp on what kinds of activities to do when. It's homey, but it's also that they're being observed. You get the feeling that it's not too big, so that they can't wander off somewhere where they're not seen. It made me feel comfortable that there were enough people around if something were to happen. Something else that I notice is that the residents were very quiet. They weren't agitated, weren't upset, and weren't yelling. I've seen different places where memory care can be very chaotic, and this was not what I saw here. I'm pretty sure that's where we'll end up, but I want mom to take a look, too. When I was there smelling the food, I was watching the people come up. Obviously they were anxious to eat, which doesn't always happen."

"My visit with Spring Meadows was very good. I loved it there. It had all kinds of stuff and was not a giant place, which I liked. It had a homey feel and was very friendly. There were lots of people doing different things, and you could tell that there were activities going on. They served three meals a day. The staff was very accommodating and very friendly. I did not have an appointment, but they were so nice. "

"There isn’t enough words for me to describe how much this place means to me. From management to the amazing nursing staff are always there for you when your love one is in their care, any questions you have they will answer them right away put your mind at ease. I never had to worry about my mom (who was in hospice) and my dad (who had triple bypass surgery) because I knew they were being taken care of so I could focus on them. I want to give a huge shoutout to Mary Ann that is head of admissions who was always there for me and helped me every way she could. I am very grateful for her. The food was always good and with a home comfort touch. Thank you kitchen for all your hospitality . Thank you housekeeping for all the hard work you put in to make these rooms clean and comfortable for our love ones. Thank you Laurels of Defiance for all the love you put in this beautiful facility."
