My mom just moved in the assisted living. I cannot say enough about the staff here. Being a nurse myself, I’m pretty particular. I have loved the way they treat patients like family. I observe how they treated not only my mom but other residents. I’m so impressed with everyone we have encountered and Molly G was a HUGE help & blessing to our family! We all appreciate all the love, care & respect you are giving! I know your job isn’t easy, God bless you all for making a difference every day to all of the residents & their families! Amazing! All of you! Thank you so much! Also My Mom had fish and chips that looked great and she ate her entire meal. That is not typical for her! So well done chef service staff & the kind lady who took care of her her first few days in dining room. My mom is excited about the activities , which the calendar looks like fun to me!

Facility spends money on furnishings. Beautiful common areas, but they have no hot water in residents showers and sinks; they boast about having above state requirements in regard to their 1nurse to 30 residents, and numbers for aids but the care is neglectful to almost abusive. Clothing goes missing, they encourage incontinence, your loved one if they spill their tray and the kitchen is closed gets no supplement and they can sit in the spillage. State mandates be damned, there is a thing called common sense and compassion. The nurses are beyond frustrated and simply say "please tell management they don't listen to us."

My 88 yr old father recently stayed at Sunset House for physical rehab following a hospital stay. Immediately upon admission, I noticed serious faults with the facility. They are lacking a permanent Director of Nursing and it has created a severe lack of communication between admin and staff. The nurses are stressed, rude, and overworked. Response time is extremely slow. My dad was there for weeks and never received a shower at all. He was repeatedly given unthickened liquids when he is on a restricted diet due to aspiration/swallowing issues. Mt dad was given chocolate cake when he had very elevated blood sugars. Worst of all my dad was experiencing symptoms of a UTI and It took an entire week for the facility to get him antibiotics. I was told he did not have one and they tried to discharge my dad without the results of the culture to treat him. When they did the urine sample, they used a urinal jug instead of the typical clean catch container for the test. Staff would argue amongst themselves in front of my father and me. My dad was on oxygen for his previous stay as well as his stay at Sunset house. The social worker in charge of discharge never got authorization from the VA to set up and get an at-home oxygen tank and was going to discharge him without it. The meds they gave us to take were incorrect it was a pretty serious blood thinner medication and the dosage was 2ce what it should have been. Thank goodness our in-home nurses caught it before he took it for too long. There was a very nice fill-in LPN working the day of our discharge and she was screamed at by Amy the nurse. When I arrived I had serious concerns about all the above-mentioned issues and when trying to discuss the discharge with Amy, she began screaming at me, was hostile and rude, and even the fill-in LPN said she would never work at this facility again. She said it was the worst facility she had ever worked for. The staff is rude, unresponsive and very unprofessional. I spoke with neighboring family members who had their loved ones there and they too shared my concerns. I would not let my dog stay there let alone my sick, fragile elderly parent. I plan on filing a formal complaint to the state. My dad has sadly declined quite a bit over the last year and has stayed at numerous facilities during this time. SUNSET HOUSE WAS BY FAR THE WORST PLACE HE HAS STAYED. NEVER AGAIN! DO NOT LET YOUR LOVED ONES STAY HERE!

Sunset House was expensive. They require a bit of money to live there, but it was very nice. It had everything that one would need or want. They had restaurant-style living. They were very informal about breakfast -- i.e., you could come down any time and have it. They definitely have levels of care and assistance. Once you got settled there, you never had to leave. However, the staff was not accommodating as much. It was less accommodating and less friendly, but they had everything that one would want.

This retirement community is a life changing place where I had decided to go with my relatives. When I was there I almost wept looking at all these aged people who have been abandoned by their children or do not have the proper financial resources to protect themselves. It was a sorry state of affairs when I saw them but they did not show a single glimpse of sadness on their face. They were really happy and when I started interacting with them they were talking to me happily. I asked them a bunch of questions like what is their typical day like or what do they do here for all of you and they said this place is refreshing. They actually provide financial assistance to the elderly and also ask all of them what they want during this phase of life. So they actually have a wish list. They receive a lot of gifts from visitors and we also gave them a lot of donation to bring smiles on their face. It was the best time of my life and I would love to go back there again.
