Assisted Living Communities in Oxford, OH

"I actually helped someone moved into Atria Northgate Park. It is very nice. It looks like they maintain it very well. The person I helped has a studio. He doesn't have a full kitchen; he only has a little refrigerator, a sink, and a microwave. He wouldn't cook anyway. He just goes to the dining room and eats there. So that's fine for him. He is also happy with the food there. The people at the front desk are all really nice. The staff is very nice and friendly. They take care of his meds, they help him do his bath, and they clean the room once a week. When we visited, we asked a question of one of the cleaners in the hallway. She introduced herself, and she was very nice. "

"One star for the owner of this place. When my husband was dying a former wonderful caregiver of my husband who my husband and the whole family loved wanted to come visit him but the owner would not allow her into the house! He had held a former disagreement against her and thus prevented my husband from seeing someone who cared about him from seeing him before he died. Remember I am paying money for my husband to live here. Secondly, after my husband came back from the hospital and was going to be under hospice care we found out a new resident had been accepted. This new resident was highly inappropriate for the house. She had serious mental health problems, was constantly shouting obscenities( several times in front of my grandchildren and also to a hospice worker) had a dog that was having accidents all over the house and she was allowed to smoke. All this was going on while my husband was dying. My husbands relatives wondered what kind of place we had my husband in. It was very bad. I would think twice about bringing a loved one here. "

"We toured the assisted living community of Aaron's Garden Senior Living & Memory Care for my mom. It was nice and clean when we went in. The tour person or the admission person was very kind and answered all of our questions. The rooms were also very nice and immaculate. There weren't many residents there because I guess they were on a field trip or an outing, but the residents seemed very happy there. The place smelled clean and had a nice home-like feel, which is what I liked about it. It is small and intimate. If they didn't have that long waiting list, that's the place that I would have trusted my mother to be in, because even the staff seemed friendly and very attentive to the residents' needs. In the other places I went, they didn't even greet me, and I think that's very important. When you go somewhere, the staff members should always greet you with a smile, and I was greeted with a smile there. It just made me feel comfortable and welcome. It made me feel like my mother would be welcome there, too."

"I visited this community as I needed memory care for my dad. Clare Bridge is a nice, small, quaint area with only 12 rooms and very dementia/Alzheimer's friendly. We are moving my dad here this week. We looked at about a dozen communities and we liked this one the best due to the smallness or the community and the friendly staff. "

"My mother and I visited Arbor Trace's assisted living facility several weeks ago, to see a family friend who was recuperating from a bad fall. The friend was staying in the assisted living portion of Arbor Trace until she was well enough to return to her residence. My impressions of Arbor Trace were mostly positive. The facilities appeared to be clean and well-maintained. Several of the common areas were named after local attractions. There was a small movie theatre named after the former Tivoli movie house that many residents at Arbor Trace probably remember fondly. The dining halls and community room appeared to be nicely appointed. We didn't see a lot of people around, but that could have been because of the time of day we visited, which was early afternoon. I think that most of the residents are in the nursing home section of the facility, and we did not go into that area. Our friend was doing well, and seemed to like it there, all things considered. I thought her room was a bit sparse, but maybe that was because she was there only for a temporary stay. I think if she had moved in permanently, she would have selected a larger room. The staff we interacted with were friendly, and were very courteous about not interrupting our visit. The person at the front desk had to call around to verify that our friend was there and where she was staying, however, which I thought was odd. I would give Arbor Trace a good rating overall from what I saw during the visit. "

"I toured Brookdale Finneytown. It was a little newer and a little larger than the others. The staff were very nice and very professional. It's clean and I like the structure and the layout. It's a little better than some of the others. The room was adequate. The dining area was fine. They did a good job of walking me around."

"Bickford of Middletown is wonderful and beautiful. The staff is really good. The dining area is really pretty. They have a lot of different activities. The apartment we saw had a living room and a bedroom. The place is friendly and everybody looks happy."

"My mother has moved into Ohio Living Llanfair. It's clean, well kept, and it doesn't stink as my wife would say. The rooms got new carpet, and they painted it. The rooms are nice. The staff is very professional and very thorough. We like the people that we've dealt with. She's not complaining about the food, so I would say it's good. I know they're having a Christmas party today. They have happy hours on Fridays, bingo, a big TV room, and games."

"My mother has been in Otterbein Senior Lifestyle Choices for 14 years now. They have anything you could possibly want except assisted living. They only have 38 assisted living rooms for over 1,000 people. She had a 2-bedroom, 2 bath house, and she now is in a 2-bedroom, 2 bath apartment. You could have houses all the way up to four bedrooms and a den, and you can have houses all the way down to 1-bedroom, 1-bath, and a living room. It doesn't have a whole lot of assisted living. They're trying to do aging in place, but they're having trouble hiring enough staff and I have to have somebody who's going to be there when they're supposed to. They have independent living, and an absolutely exceptional memory care and nursing home. The assisted living is about to be built over the next three years. You have choices for food. If you're independent, you can cook your own. The dining room is open and you can buy a meal plan or you can go in one meal at a time. They have a cafeteria, a bistro that is brand new, and they just opened a new theater. I can't say anything bad about them except that I need an assisted living apartment, not an assisted living room. They work hard out there. The staff members are the best part of the whole place."

"My father-in-law has moved to Majestic Care of Cedar Village Assisted Living. The staff there had been nothing but helpful. They've got a schedule of activities. The facility is very nice, it's not the newest but there's nothing wrong with it. It's located near everything, it's a built-up suburb in Cincinnati. My father-in-law's bedroom is large enough."

"I toured The Summit of Blue Ash. That was very nice. I think the gal who took us there said they were being bought by somebody else. It was very neat, clean, sharp, and a very pleasant environment. They had a pool and a gym room and all that. The rooms were very nice and had a nice courtyard and a nice dining room. They have a substantial menu of a variety of everything from hamburgers to a real meal or whatever you want to say."

"We visited Deer Park Assisted Living. We enjoyed it. It was a nice visit. The staff was very nice, friendly, and organized. It seemed like a very nice place. The tour went through the entire location. We viewed several rooms, and we walked to the community outside. It was a nice, thorough view of the entire area. Their staffing is one of the strong points I like about them. From the time that we walked in up to the time we walked out, they were very nice. We called back afterwards to ask a couple of questions, and we got some good service. Another reason why we liked it is that they were in the process of upgrading the flooring and trying to make it a very nice place."

"Interactions with Staff have been great especially with this tall gentleman. I cannot remember his name but he treated me and my family with grace and kindness when we were there having a small get together."

"My mom moved to Brookdale Kenwood. We chose this community because of the location and the people we talked with. They were very helpful in showing us the location and facilities and explaining what their services were. They had some activities for the residents. The rooms were more than adequate. They showed us different sized rooms like the studio, one-bedroom, and two-bedrooms. The activities were the same as what we saw in another location. My mother seems to like the food, some of it is good and some of it is not very good. They have a salon, transportation to appointments, a little bistro, and lots of sitting areas around for when family members visit. They also play cards. I saw in their schedule of activities that they also have bingo and Christmas programs. The building itself is well-maintained and decorated very nicely. I don't have any issue with them."
