"My sister moved to Bickford of Urbandale's assisted living. The care is more personalized to each individual. I love the place. It's bright and welcoming, and just a nice place to be in. They make sure that the residents are served with activities and games to keep them going. The staff has also been very helpful. The dining program is just like being at a restaurant. It's really wonderful. My sister has no complaints that I know of, and she is well fed. It's just beautiful out there."

"Edencrest at Green Meadows was a new facility in a beautiful environment. I felt that it had adequate open spaces. The programming seemed to be very good, especially for the memory care unit, which was the unit we were especially interested in. I liked the overall setup of the facility and felt that it would be a very homey place. They had assisted living and memory care."

"Mom is in Holland Farms Senior Living. It's a very, very nice place. It's very modern, beautifully decorated, very clean, and well maintained, and they've got a very nice staff. They have a very nice dining area. They had a Christmas party on Tuesday night. My mom likes to walk and there's a place there for her to walk and she enjoys that. The food is excellent. I haven't eaten anything, but I've looked at the menus and it looked like they would be very good. The activities are excellent too. They take them on rides and they have church activities and things like that. They have a lot of things and they keep it very interesting for them. Comparatively, their pricing is very competitive."

"My mom has chosen MorningStar. It is the one she feels most comfortable in. It is bright, shiny, and new. She likes it. They have a theater room for movies. They also do sitting exercises and have Sunday worship services. It is gorgeous and cool. They have a computer area, an area where they can play Scrabble, and a huge area with eight or 10 game tables that have different game settings and puzzles. They have Wii bowling, putting area, massage area, beauty shop, and work out center. It is all in one level in one big area. The place is very nice. The staff is incredible. We met two or three people, and they're excellent. However, this place is expensive."

"We like Independence Village Of Waukee. The woman that talked to us and toured us around, her grandmother is there. We met the grandmother, and it was a nice situation. We saw one room that was kind of being used as a storage room because they're full. And then the staff asked her Grammy if we could see her, so we did that, and they were very nice. There were some people doing activities, but not a lot. They have a courtyard and an exercise room, and they do movies. The menu looks really good. The person that taught us was very nice, and she knew everyone. We went to a little café part of it, and people were having a snack. It was wine Wednesday or something, so people were getting ready to have a little bit of wine."

"I was very impressed with Bickford of Ames. The rooms are small compared to what my mom has now, but their goal is you don't spend a lot of time in your apartment. They have activities for the residents to do, and they can get out and visit. This is what I'm looking for because my mother is locked in her room right now under quarantine, and at 93-years-old that's not a good thing. The staff was very friendly, the facility was very welcoming, and smelled good. A lot of these places have a smell, but this one looked clean and the residents were clean. They have two TVs, one in the main area and one in the fireplace. They can just get out, visit, and read the paper. The maintenance guy who works there full time gets the guys together and plays the Yahtzee. On the other side of the building some ladies were getting a manicure, and some were sitting on the couch while visiting, and they have activities planned all day. The rooms were really small and Mom won't be able to take much of her furniture that she has, but at the same time she really doesn't need all of that extra stuff. They have a chef there and everything's homemade, so it's doesn't sound like it's industrial."

"The location of Prairie Vista Village is ideal for me because it's close to two of my sons and I like that the home has a patio, which I like having in my apartment. I like the idea that there are two meals a day included in the rent. The rent was affordable to me and there's a garage. The apartment that I will be in has two bedrooms with a full kitchen and laundry (a washer and dryer). The rooms are all quite spacious, larger than the rooms in the house that I'm living in now. There's lots of light in the rooms. The living room has large windows on two sides and the bedroom also has a large window and lots of closet space. The lady who gave the tour was very, very bright, and very intelligent, and she answered all of my questions exactly the way I wanted to satisfy my curiosity. She was very nice. They have an area where people can plant plants in the summertime if they get the urge to do some gardening. There is a small area for that and there's a walking path around the building."
