Assisted Living Communities in Kokomo, IN

"I went to Bloom at Kokomo, and it was a good visit. It's a very neat, and more modern than some of the other places at Kokomo. We've always liked that. The lady was nice about the whole thing, and she kept in contact with us for awhile, but it didn't work out because the nurse supervisor decided my wife wouldn't fit in. There were rooms nicer than some of the other places we saw. We wanted a two-bedroom for our furniture and things. The only two-bedroom was on the second floor, and wouldn't accommodate them, but there was also a nice one-bedroom on the first floor."

"We visited Silver Birch of Kokomo, and I like the fact that she can have somewhat independent living, along with somebody there to assist her medications and the layout of the facility. The staff I've come across on Saturday were excellent. They offer different activities like bingo and cards. They have a room that they can play all that in and the dining services and different things like that. I was impressed by the room. We just had a little glitch coming in the front doors, but that's the whole Covid restrictions and all that other stuff. There was just a little glitch in getting in the door."

"My dad is at a new facility called Emerald Haven. It's very small and more like a group home. For people who are mobile and very high functioning, it's a fine place, but if they have any health issues, I can't recommend it. The only meal I've had there was a Christmas meal, and I had to cook it. However, a lot of the residents don't like it because they have to share a bathroom with someone. The house itself is very nice, comfortable, and very pretty. It's an open concept with a very nice kitchen/dining area and a fireplace in the living room. However, they have like fifteen people in there who have come and gone, and part of the problem there is that no one knows who works there and who doesn't. Also some of them are not trained to work with senior citizens or senior citizens with issues, but they have a manager who is doing her best, and she is very good. They are supposed to have activities, but so far, the only one I've seen is a jigsaw puzzle."

"The rooms at Jefferson Manor were very nice. The staff was very nice. They had 1 and 2-bedroom apartments and studio apartments. The dining area was nice."

"Waterford Place is a great facility for those nearing the end of their time with us. The staff was always exceptional and welcoming. They have treated my family, both those living there and those visiting, with respect and care. They have even allowed us to come on holidays and have (rather large) gatherings and celebrate together. My grandmother died the day after Christmas in 2008 and we were able to have a nice family dinner and gift exchange with her the night before. The facilities themselves are very nice and convenient for patients. The location is towards the northeast end of the city, which was very convenient for my family. It was also a short drive to the hospital, should anything happen to a patient or if there was an appointment they had to make. The one downside to this facility was a certain faculty member who was not very welcoming or nice to my family. She would not speak to my grandmother (the patient) and often ignored us. I do believe this person had a past with one of my family members, but she should not have let that interfere with her work. "

"It has individual garden homes. What I liked about it was the independent living residents could live independently but they still provide meals. The food is excellent, and they have a lot of activities going on. They had five different card games that I like to play, Bible study, weekly Church services, exercise programs, and a walking club. It is a very active community and they allow dogs. The staff is very client-oriented and very friendly. They have pendants to send a nurse to your casita in case of emergency."

"My friend absolutely loved it. We had a very friendly and good tour. The employees were extremely nice, and he thought that place would be nirvana. There were a lot of available activities. The thing I liked about it was there were more men at this facility than I've seen at other places. They also have a courtyard, an area where they play cards together, and a living room area. It's a very welcoming facility."

"My relative moved into Century Fields Retirement Community. The people are wonderful. They pay attention to the detail of his care, and there's a lot of continuity of care. I feel like they take care of everything and then communicate with me on anything that I can do to coordinate with them to make his stay more pleasant. My relative says the food is very, very good. He has no complaints about the food. The people are very welcoming. He has a one-bedroom apartment, and it's fairly large. It has a view of a pond, so he enjoys seeing the wildlife. They have a variety of different apartment types, everything from a studio to a two-bedroom. They are very responsive to both his physical needs and his general well-being. We have just had a wonderful experience so far."

"I found the staff of Aperion Estates Peru to be helpful and the place to be clean. The dining area was very small and conducive to having conversations. I found the community to be very nice. I would be very comfortable putting anybody there. It's like walking down a boulevard and to your right and to your left are where the residents live. The center of it is made to look and feel like it's outdoors. It's very well lit, comfortable, and relaxed. There was a little library at the end. I talked to one of the residents who was very happy being there. The staff was great, courteous, answered questions, and gave me information. They were willing to come and meet with my friend. They're very upbeat, very positive, and very nice."

"My dad was at Autumnwood. It's an excellent facility, and it's a beautiful building. Everyone was super helpful. He was quite happy there. We had no complaints. They had medical staff and hairdressers, they had a variety of games and activities that the residents could be a part of, and they had church services, too. Before the pandemic, they took them on outings in the area, so they could shop and things like that. Their food was excellent. The staff members were very nice. Everything was top of the line, it was always very clean, and the rooms were very nice. I could not have asked for anything better than that. I often had lunch with him there, and it was restaurant-quality food. The food was excellent. The staff members were very outgoing, very friendly, and helped residents and families."

"My grandmother lived in this facility for about 6 months. The facility was very clean and had employee's that were attentive and seemed to care about the residents there. When my grandmother finally passed away and I was along side her during those final moments, the facility took extra care to give us privacy and meet our needs. The nurses on duty were always available when needed and helped my Grandmother to stay as active as possible. They listened to her appointed caretaker and never adjusted the medicines without prior contact to both my Grandmother's doctor and her legal medical power of attorney. Overall it was a well maintained facility from the maintenance to the staff. "

"The grounds at Wesley Manor are beautifully landscaped. The buildings are current, and well-kept. I have visited a few assisted living facilities, and none of them were on par with what Wesley Manor offers. My grandmother was happy there. The staff was kind, friendly, helpful, and informative. The assisted living at Wesley Manor was great. My grandmother had a very nice, clean, modern one bedroom apartment. She was very independent, but still needed help doing some daily tasks. The staff was not intrusive, but made sure that my grandmother was well cared for. The tasks she asked for help with were done regularly, and well.While I was visiting, the staff brought me a menu shortly before lunch time. The menu was great, and they delivered the meals from the main facility directly to my grandmother's apartment. I enjoyed seeing my grandmother cared for, but still able to hold on to her sense of independence. Moving to Wesley Manor's assisted living apartments was a great decision for her.Later on, when my grandmother needed more medical care, she moved into the main facility on the same property. The staff and amenities were equally as impressive. If I ever have another family member who needs assisted living care, I hope they go to Wesley Manor. I am grateful that they made my grandmother as happy and comfortable as possible while she was with them. "

"My dad is at Neal Home. It is a good, very small facility with only 14 residents, so, obviously, everybody has one-on-one personal care. The room has a bed with a bathroom and furniture. The staff is friendly. They have Bingo, cards, and some calisthenics. When it's warmer, they put them all in a bus and go to a restaurant together. "
