"We toured Brentwood at Niles. There were fairly small numbers of residents there. It looks well-staffed. When we were there, safety precautions and those kinds of things were scattered at a high level for doorways and things like that. They're using coded doors, they also reported in by radio that they were the ones opening a particular door. So it was kind of another check on it, which I was kind of impressed with in addition to having the coded locks and keys locked, that kind of thing. The staff assisted us very well. The facility looked good. It was clean. It could have had a few more lights in some of the areas to keep it brighter."

"My uncle is comfortable at Kelly's Hillside Manor. He likes the other people who live there. He likes the guy who owns the place who also takes him to all his doctors' appointments. My uncle shares a room with a fella and they get along really well. The owner's wife is from the Philippines and she does all the cooking, so she cooks Filipino food and my uncle really likes it. The owner takes them out for a pizza once every two weeks and asks them if they want to go to a movie and if they do, he takes them. Don, the owner, is a really great guy who cares a lot about the people. He always talks to them and listens to what they have to say."

"We had several options to choose from when looking at apartments for dad. They had a studio & a spacious 1 bedroom. We chose the 1 bedroom as it provides a kitchenette for dad when making snacks during the day. Their activity team is amazing and always offered to take dad to the activities during the day. Dad was not a very social-able person prior to coming to Greenleaf and now that is all he wants to do is participate in their events. Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication to caring for our dad."

"HolistiCare Homes would fit us if we can get my sister on Medicaid. You could get three meals a day and housekeeping once a week. They have a salon. The facilities were very clean."

"It is a very clean place. All the staff is very helpful, and we've had a good experience so far. My mother gets three meals a day and they distribute her medication. The dining area is very clean. They keep the residents spaced apart and they have assigned seating, so she knows where she's going to eat every day. It's very nice. There's a lot of activities such as balloon volleyball, noodle ball, and some other physical activities. My mother seems to enjoy it."

"Mom has moved to Cottage Garden. The people are really good and caring. They only have six residents. There are two caregivers there all the time, so the ratio of caregivers to residents is high. It's like a home setting. It's a big house, so it's not like a lot of the care places where you walk out of your room and you're in a hallway. Mom walks out of her room, and she's right in the kitchen, and the other side of the kitchen is the living room. It's set up nice. There's a lot of individual care. She's got a full bath off the bedroom. She's got a TV that they installed, and she got a hospital bed. The room is average-sized. She can help with the cooking if she wants to. They have games and knitting. They have an outdoor patio where she can birdwatch. They have a lot of feeders out and stuff like that. It was a little expensive."

"My mother-in-law moved into Green Oaks of Goshen. They've been very welcoming and accommodating. It's a low-income housing. They were very helpful to us during the Medicaid process. It's brand new, so it's clean and in good condition. The one thing I have been dissatisfied with a little bit is the maintenance. She's had a couple of maintenance issues and they haven't been tended to as quickly as they should have. The staff is kind and attentive. The food is fine. They offer bingo, they offer trips to the store, play cards, they have UNO, they had Thanksgiving dinner, a luau, and trick or treating. The residents passed out candy to the neighborhood children. The rooms are very spacious, and the layout is good."

"My mother is in Miller's Merry Manor, and we're very happy with them. They check up on her and make sure she's taking her meds and cleaning her room. I have seen other places offer more things to do than what this one does, but it's not a huge community either. She likes everything there and has not complained about the food. The staff seems to be very helpful and polite, not snarky or anything. The place is very spacious with big hallways, the rooms and bedrooms are very nice."

"My dad moved into Cedarhurst of Edison Lakes. It's been a very positive experience, so far. The staff seems knowledgeable, friendly, and have done a really good job of keeping him both clean and fed and in good health. They did a great job on the renovation. I think the new facility looks nice. They offer quite a variety of activities and they do everything they can to try to entice my dad to participate."

"This is an excellent nursing home, I have worked here as a volunteer and planning to get an actually paid job. So it highly recommend it. "

"Primrose Retirement Community is beautiful. I like the fact that it was only five years old, so it's very modern. I like the fact that it had a washer and dryer in every room. They have assisted but they are separated from the independent for dining and things like that. They have movie nights. They have a pub and a bistro. It would be my first choice except for the price. The staff was very friendly and very thorough. They presented us with a little gift bag with goodies in it as we left. They were just very friendly people."

"My parents moved into Greencroft Goshen. They have multiple levels of care. Since my parents are in independent living, they get their first choice if they have to move up to either assisted living or nursing care, so that was one of the main reasons we chose it. The area is very close to doctors and grocery stores. It is a very good area, and it is easy to get around. I've heard a lot of great reviews. The staff has been wonderful. My parents seem to like the food. They have a lot of activities."

"We live at The Village at Arborwood Senior Community. It's an independent living community and we've been here for about a year and a half. It's been a very positive experience. We're very pleased with it. They're very loving in the sense that they take good care of the people who are here. They're open to suggestions. We've enjoyed it. We're very positively oriented towards it. There's a library onsite. There's an activity sheet. At the beginning of each month, they publish a brochure consisting of about six to maybe ten pages with the activities that are planned for that month and a calendar of events so that if you want to see what's going on next week, it's easy enough to do and then they have buses that take you shopping if you wish to. They have different activities for people, both men and women. They've got bingo. The food is ala carte. You get a menu of different items at the beginning of the week, and then you select what you'd like. If you like to have a meal at that time, you can. If you don't want a meal, you don't do that. It works out pretty well. They'll have singers come in. It's a very positive experience for people who live here. I don't think I've ever run across anyone who has a bad word for it. Like every place, you probably can find room for improvement, but I don't have any problems at all. I'm sure most of the people here don't either. They're very positively oriented towards it. It's just a good community and it's a safe community. The staff members listen. They fix things if needed. They're very attentive to what you have to say. If you need help, they're there to give you help. They have people who come in, for example, they'll do your wash if you want and they maintain your area. They'll do whatever is required to make sure that you're comfortable. They have the pull cords in case you need help. There are a lot of activities that you can choose from, from card playing to bingo to bowling. They have Wii bowling and a ton of different activities. The value that you get here is exceptional for the money that you pay. We couldn't be happier. We're not rich, but at least we're not destitute either because of the monthly payments."
