"I like Sugar Grove Senior Living because the apartments had a door where they could go outside to a courtyard and go out a little bit. I like that well. I like that the whole place was kind of in a circle that you could walk. Mom did not like it because she thought the apartment was too small. The kitchen area was cut in half and the bathroom was as you come in the door, instead of being off the bedroom. The staff was very friendly. They gave you a lot of information. They walked with us and told us about everything. It was very clean and I thought it was really good. I liked it being on one floor. It didn't have levels on it. You didn't have to worry about going up the elevators and stuff."

"We liked Harmony at Avon a lot. It's a beautiful place, but in my friend's situation, the expenses were a little too high. The lady that we talked to was really helpful and very knowledgeable about the facility and how she could help if it came to the point where things would have to go from private pay to Medicaid or something. We saw one of the apartments and it was nice, my friend was happy with the size of it. It was very clean. It's not too far from a hospital and eating places, and they have a shuttle service for people, so it's not like you have to drive yourself."

"I really wanted to put him in Traditions. This was where I had my sight set, but after he broke his hip, he was down too far for them to take him. He was in too bad a shape, so I had to go from an assisted living type of situation to skilled nursing, and I had to do it quickly. When he broke the hip, it was just downhill quick. They were very pleasing, decorative-wise, the menu was looking good, and everything was just really good. The staff people were all just fine. They all went out of their way. I even showed up unannounced to have a tour, and they stopped everything and took me all around. "

"We visited Cumberland Trace. It was very nice. It was a newer facility. The furnishings were nice. The people were nice. We went up to a room and saw a room and the staff took us on a really short walk around a specific part of the building, but that's all, we weren't able to interact with anybody. The room was nice, but a little small. The staff members were excellent."

"My step-dad just got out of Meadow Lakes. It seemed fine but we couldn't see anything because of COVID, they would bring him out and we could see him in the lobby. He likes it there which is rare. Staff was really nice and he liked them too. The facility was very nice, I think it's expensive. They have transportation to doctors' appointments and things, they have game nights, they take people shopping if they can go. They also have retirement homes and condos."

"Writing reviews for assisted living is difficult. You have to remember you’re dealing with humans, and no one is perfect. They have ups and downs. I will say that overall the ups far outweigh the downs at IVoWZ. My dad lived in their memory care for almost a year before he passed away from Alzheimer’s. It was during the height of the pandemic. I feel that Independence did a fantastic job caring for him and keeping us connected. When my dad was transitioning, they allowed me to be by his side. I will be forever grateful. My mom is currently in assisted living. She gets great care, and I’m very involved. On the occasion there is an issue, I call and talk to the appropriate person in charge, and the issue is resolved. Again, I feel that’s what is important. Can issues be addressed and resolved. Things don’t come up very often. I can usually take care of the issues my 87 year old mother is requiring! The facility is clean and beautiful! I love the staff. I have a great relationship with so many of the nurses and aides. You will get to know them by name and they will know you by name. They become extended family. There are all kinds of activities and outings too. It’s really a busy place! The food was on a down, but they are correcting that. That’s an example of management listening. I’m giving three stars for food because they’re still working on it and I haven’t tried it since the new chef has started. My mom seems to be happy again though. Staff gets a four ONLY because of agency. That happens occasionally now, but there was a time that it was the norm. "

"Staff is very friendly and Brad is great - Always goes the extra mile to take care of my mom. She loves Roger and trips. Loves also 4pm Happy Hour! Her room is comfortable and she likes the food but says service is sometimes slow. Overall a great place and we are very glad that my mom is happy here. Highly recommend. "

"We are thinking of choosing Bickford of Greenwood for my dad because of the location and the cost. It is high-caliber care, but it has a great staff-to-resident ratio; they have more staff than actual residents there. I would rate the staff a "high four" because of their personality and how they get along with my dad. He is not an easy man, but they love him. He tried the food, and he liked it. The facility is clean, well kept, and renovated. They have a salon. In the memory care, the activities are monitored, but they have fitness activities."

"Altenheim was where I had my rehab. That's probably one of the best places I've been to. They also have a separate section where you can either have assisted or independent living. Everything was spotless. The living environment was great. They have a section for picnics and a pond, which was so big that you can actually fish in it. They have benches and walkways all over the place. It was pretty easy to get around there. They have bingo in the afternoons. They have a snack bar for the residents and you can eat at three different spots. They have a dining room setting where you can get waited on and another area where you can wait on yourself. The staff was great and my rehab was good. They seemed to really care about their patients. Their rooms were great. From what I've seen they were like apartments where you have a double room there and you all have shower facilities. They also have laundry service available if you want. I just found everything great there. "

"I toured the Grand Victorian of Greenwood. It's a lovely place. They asked me to stay for lunch, and they were very gracious. They weren't trying to sell me anything. They are just really nice. It had a microwave and a refrigerator. It had a mini kitchenette type, but it was nice. It was OK because I've seen some awful ones, not even a countertop big enough to put a coffee pot on. So, this was good. It would meet my needs, but the price goes way up from independent living to assisted living. There are three meals a day. It's a nice place."

"We chose Demaree Crossing for my mom basically by the looks of it. It's very nice, clean, open, and it's just a very nice place to live. She is in memory care and the staff there is very good, very helpful, very attentive, and the rooms are very, very nice. She has a large room, the food is good, and the dining area is very nice. They do exercises every day, play games, watch TV in an open area, and they have an outside patio area. So, they stay pretty busy."

"My mom is here. I am really happy with the service that we are getting there. They are very caring people. It has been really a good experience so far. They have a library, a room for church services, and an activity center where people can do crafts, puzzles, and different projects that they want to do. The amenities are very nice. They have several dining rooms for different wings. The food is average. They are doing a good job and seem to be interested in helping the residents. "

"Copper Trace was a nice facility inside and out. The staff was knowledgeable, but the front desk staff didn't appear to understand that we had an appointment, so they were a little confused. They were preparing for an activity when I was there and people were waiting eagerly for it to happen. They had a beauty shop, library, exercise area, and spacious dining area."
