"Our tour experience with Water Edge of Lake Wales was very good. They explained the place to me very well. I saw a studio apartment with a kitchenette that was unfurnished. So, you have to furnish it. The amenities were great. They had a library, a hobby shop, and the place was very clean. It was like a luxury hotel."

"I toured Brookdale Highlands. They were great. I would say that they were open and friendly. They were accommodating to what we were looking for. We got to interact with some of the residents, and it was great too. The residents seemed happy. The facility was very clean and organized. The activities looked very interactive, and the facility was in great shape."

"My father is in Hawthorne Inn Lakeland. It is a wonderful place. He's on the locked-down unit. We have a party tonight to go to there. The rooms are very nice. Cleanliness is perfection. The staff is wonderful and they take very good care of him. They call me for anything and everything, and I can call them for anything and everything. The food was delicious. They have things going on all the time. It's kind of expensive, but we're hoping that he can get on Medicaid as a secondary, and it would cut it in half because it's $4550 a month, so that's pretty costly."

"We visited the independent living community of Lake Morton Senior Living, and everything was wonderful. I like that they come and clean your house once a week. We are not totally disabled or anything, but cleaning the house and keeping it maintained has become very difficult for us, and it's never completely clean, so that part really appealed to me. Their rooms were very spacious, and I can see us being in there. It's big enough to put a queen-size bed. They have transportation to wherever you want to go and outings. Some people there like to gamble, so they've had an outing to Las Vegas. They offer a variety of entertainment, and they have a library, too. They'll do your laundry for you, but there's a laundry facility there if you want to do it yourself. They have a little gift and snack shop there to buy just small things. They schedule different activities, so when we were there a few days later, they were going to have a sock hop dance, time dancing, and they had Bible devotions three times a week. There is just a lot to do there. The tour we had was just amazing, and all the people were just very friendly, kind, and concerned."

"Foxtail Lodge is very nice. It seemed very well maintained, and they're adding two more rooms that are very well done. They aren't furnished yet but they have them completed as far as the floors and walls. There was a huge living room, and they had two dining areas. They have non-ambulatory people eating in the kitchen area and ambulatory people in the dining rooms. They had a menu and activities on the refrigerator for the month."

"Aum Haven Assisted Living Facility was very, very nice. It was a house made into a facility. It had all of the ADA accommodations and it was well-kept. I had a lot of good feedback from the residents when I asked about how they were being taken care of. The staff was nice and very helpful. They would provide meals 3 times a day and they had 24/7 staffing."

"The Courtyard At Granada is almost like a house that somebody converted. It looked very nice. It was a little bit cheaper than the other place, but with the drive, I'm thinking that the other place is going to be more suited to us. They don't have a memory care area. That's one of the other things I was a little concerned about. They don't have a locked-down situation except at night; they just close the main doors of the facility and lock them, whereas the other place has an actual place that's locked down inside the building. It seemed like a fairly decent place, but as far as staff and food, I don't know anything about it. I don't know about their accreditation. The food looks fine, but I don't know about taste or anything like that. The woman who took me around on the tour was the owner of the place, and she was very knowledgeable. I didn't meet many of the staff. I did see a copy of the menu, and it looked fine. A lot of the rooms are private, but they share a bathroom. That wouldn't work out for a lot of people, including my wife. She's a very private person, and she would not like that at all. Their dining area is very nice."

"I toured The Canopy at Walden Woods. It's a very friendly place. The colors are calming, and the way it's set up is open. There are plenty of care members around, especially in memory care. I was really impressed with it. They were all very pleasant and very helpful. It has a welcoming feeling. Their menu looked well-balanced and appealing. The ambience of the place was comfortable. I would feel comfortable if I had to stay there."

"We already found a place for my stepmother and that's Gentle Shepherd Assisted Living Facility. It is close to where I live. It is a very clean facility and the room that she is in is very good. I'm very happy with it. She is 92 years old, and unfortunately, she is not very happy there because she wants to be on her own in her own house. That's the only problem we have. However, Gentle Shepherd takes care of her very well. The staff is also very friendly. Of course, I visited her at least four to five times a week. Hopefully, little by little she will get used to it. "

"I liked La Ritane; it was the best of the places I went to. They had a nurse who was very good at handling people with memory issues and they had activities for them. This was a home, it was well organized. She only has six residents at a time. She gives you a folder with all the information and references that you can call, and she's the only one that did that. The facility was very nicely done, the rooms weren't huge but also nicely done. The staff was wonderful. Someone comes in and cuts the nails. The dining area was nice, it wasn't huge, but they had a dining room with eight chairs around it, and they also had a dining room where they sit and do activities. They were doing some game, and someone was sitting there doing it with them. I would move my husband there if they have an opening."

"The tour we had at Sonata Hunter's Creek was really good. I truly appreciated the help of Ashley. She went through all the details that we needed to know. It was a very beautiful place. They had private rooms, and that's something that we liked. They had different rooms where they could get together. They had a beautiful patio area and a gym where they could do therapy. It was such a big place for my father and they had so much space. Safety was very important for them. The way people would go in and out, they needed to have a special fob. I liked that they were very strict in the sense of safety, but at the same time, you could go and see them any time. I liked that flexibility. I liked that they were very, very safe and that they could not really wander around and then get lost."

"My sister will be moving into Spring Hills Hunters Creek. We chose it because she needs memory care. Theirs was large, open, and airy, and they had a lot of staff and my sister is still pretty lively physically. It's just her mind is the problem. The room was very nice, very sunny, and bright. It is month to month, so if we don't like it in six months, it's not a problem. It's a little pricy like they all are, but the presentation was good and a lot of staff seems to be around. They have meals and they have a good active monthly calendar. They have musicians that come in and singers, and they have art on the walls that is interactive, so the residents can draw on this art. They do some outings on occasion, and they have an exercise class, which I liked. They take care of everything. They do laundry, they have doctors that come in, and physical therapists that come in. Everything is kind of one-stop shopping. The staff during the visit seems to be very caring. She went to my sister's house (who was my other sister's caregiver) and helped her fill out the paperwork and everything like that on a computer. They just seemed to be very involved and caring. I can revisit it once my sister is actually in there and see how the care goes."
