I was impressed that Leslie from The Meadows at Cypress Gardens waited for me because I was stuck in traffic for six hours. I loved the inside, and she explained that they were doing renovations. I liked the room. I didn't get to see the outside because it was very dark. I was to do a virtual tour with her, but I don't know what happened. She sat there spoke with me for quite a while, and was trying to help me get my mom in, and she actually gave me the paperwork for my mom to get evaluated by her doctor and everything. I just felt a little pressured by her to get things going but on my end things were not flowing as I wanted. And to top it off, I was supposed to go back down there to do a day tour, but the winter storm and Armageddon-like flu kind of ruined it, and then, finding it difficult to reach Leslie all of a sudden, and when we did schedule the virtual tour ,she wasn't at work that day, felt very odd. I didn't get a message from her about the matter. I loved their price and everything, and the fact that my mom will not have to share. I loved the room. It's plain, but it's good. It's all that you need. It's not fancy, fancy. No pool, though.

My cousin has been at The Meadows at Cypress Gardens for a couple of months now. I am happy. The people and the manager are very nice. They clean and wash his clothes. They have Bingo, they play cards, listen to music, and drive to outside entertainment. They have a garden where they can feed the birds and give food to the cats. They play checkers there.

My brother has been at The Meadows at Cypress Gardens for 3 or 4 years now. He likes it down there. He has his own apartment with his own furniture. He has his bed in there, a recliner chair, his bureau, and a TV set. He has his own bathroom and a closet. He watches his own TV programs. It’s like a little apartment. It’s nice, and it’s not a big place. I like the facility. It’s right across Legoland. The grounds are OK, and the pricing is reasonable. It’s over 30 miles away, but I go down, take care of him, and do things with him. The food is OK; he seems to like it. I’d recommend it.

I looked at this place in October 2014 when I needed a facility to move my mother. The place is beautiful (star #1) and very clean (star #2), however, there was no one around. I wandered in the large front foyer/dining room for 10 minutes before we found anyone that worked there (ding #1). There were not any residents hanging around or walking about either. There were a couple small sitting areas we encountered a resident or two watching tv. I think it was a bit concerning not to see a lot of staff or residents, like everyone was locked in their rooms (ding #2). Maybe we should have gone during meal time. This place also was far above my mother's price point. Everything was a la carte, $1700 for a room + $350 for medicine dispensary + $20 cable + $$ laundry + $$ phone + $$ + $$ + $$$$ memory unit. After all we needed for my mother it was close to $3000-3500 a month (big ding #3). The little $$ that really nixed it for us. If your family member can afford it and doesn't mind just staying in their living area, then this place could be nice for them. If they like to socialize or on a limited budget like most elderly folks these days, I would not recommend you wasting your time.

The place is wonderful, it's homey. But my dad has Alzheimer's so he doesn't like being there, he likes having his freedom. Not that he doesn't have his freedom, but of course he doesn't realize that.
