"I toured Hawthorne Inn Lakeland, and it is a gorgeous place. It's very, very bright and airy and the staff seems very, very attentive to the patients. The biggest problem is it's so expensive, so I guess you get what you pay for. They have amenities like a salon, they had a fitness room, they had a little ice cream parlor, and they had a lot of stuff up towards the front. They also had transportation available for the residents and the cleanliness of the facility is perfect. In terms of location, it's more isolated than the other places we toured, but it's close to a large clinic. Other than that, it's five to six miles from the hospital. There are a couple of places like a pizza place nearby, but it's not like they could go out and walk to a restaurant, although they had transportation available."

"I toured the assisted living facility of Brookdale Highlands, and I will be moving there. It just seems to be very pretty and very clean, and everybody seems very nice. They have a happy hour on Friday, and I was there for that. It seems like they have a lot of activities as well. They have a lunch group that goes out on Wednesdays. They also have Bible Studies and a weekly church service. The staff who gave the tour was very friendly and very responsive. If I had a question, she responded as soon as she could. I would just say they're a little disorganized in welcoming people. They need a better system than that, but otherwise it's all very good."

"I toured Aldea Green in Brandon. It's very clean and they have years of experience. They also pretty much keep their staff. The facility was nice, it was basically laid out in an apartment style, and it was bright. The rooms were very spacious and clean. They also have lots of activities. They answer a lot of questions, are very knowledgeable, and there's nothing you should be afraid to ask them."

"I toured the Hawthorne Inn of Brandon's assisted living facility. One negative was that the studio was very small, much smaller than anything I've seen. I thought it was a very beautiful facility, though, and it looked like they had a lot of nice things. They had what they called a library, a place with books, and a snack place with coffee. They had a lot of activities, too. I just don't think it's a place I want to go, as nice as it was, as I would rather be where the rooms are a little bigger. I also don't think it's the one I would pick because it was so quiet. They spoke highly of the lady who does their activities. They said she had a lot of ideas. They were painting masks and they were nice and cool. The activities looked very interesting. The lady who did the tour was nice. She answered all my questions and gave us a good tour and some information for people with Medicaid. She also gave me a menu sample, but I didn't get a chance to look at it."

"My friend is going to go to The Crossings at Riverview. We took her on a tour, and she said she felt comfortable there. It was very nice. My other neighbor and I were with her, and we decided we wanted to be there because it's so good. She likes the idea that you could go to the dining room because she doesn't cook at home. So that's one of the good things. She also likes that she could bring her dogs. She likes the idea that they would do her laundry and clean the place once a week. She will have a very cute apartment on the first floor which is quite close to where she could bring the dogs out to the back courtyard. Everything was very clean. They're fairly new, and I think they did a good job. They even let us go back and let us go into the apartment one more time. They were really good. They opened up the apartment and then we walked all around the building. It was very nice. In terms of activities, a couple of ladies were at the theater, and they were getting ready to watch a video. There's a sidewalk around the building and even in the back. My friend likes to take her dogs for long walks, so this is going to be good for her because she can walk around the building. Plus, they have a screened-in porch upstairs on the second floor and down below on the first floor. There are some benches outside, too. My friend can also see the river from her apartment. She got a nice view. "

"Lake Morton Senior Living was just too small of a place. It didn't fit our situation, but they had very nice apartments. The staff was very informative about things. It was a very nice facility. They have a lounge, an exercise area, a general area where everybody gets together, a cafeteria, and everything."

"The independent and the assisted living at The Meridian at Brandon are all in the same building, but we went for the independent living. The facility itself is a brand new structure, so it's very appealing to the eyes. Everything about it was newer. They didn't have a model unit available to show. They have one unit that they showed us that's vacant. I think that a facility like that should ensure that there are model units available for a perspective person to be able to see, and they didn't have any. The staff during the tour didn't work there. He was like a regional person who tours and goes to different facilities. He started by saying, "If I don't have the information, I'll get it for you." He wasn't that well-versed on that particular location because he works for the company, and he goes all around. It had different rooms. It was very clean. It had a big library, an art room, and a theater room. It had all of the amenities, and everything was new. We only got to see one room, and it was a studio, and it was average."

"I went to Sun City Senior Living. They gave me the walk through and some materials to look because that was my first walk through to get an idea of the costs of things around and to see what the best facility would be for my dad. The rooms were very nice and had various types. I was able to see everything in the facility including the common areas, the recreation areas and things like that. I saw their activities calendar and it looked like they had something almost every day, like arts and arts and things like that. With the holiday season coming up, they were all centered on Christmas. The dining area looked clean. I liked that it was not a huge place, but it had all the essential care available that my father could need. Unfortunately, he did not live long enough to do it."

"This facility is really beautiful. The apartments are nice. The staff was very helpful during my tour. At that time, I was concerned on a lot of things such as approval from my mom's long term insurance care company. I was really struggling in making a decision for a while but Grand Court is one of the best facilities I visited and considered. "

"My mom was at Spring Haven. We chose it because it was in her price range and her location. It was an adequate facility. I thought the staff members were very competent. They did a good job. My mom's living space was very nice. It was a one-bedroom apartment. In terms of activities, they have a library, a game room, and a pool. There was plenty for her to do. I thought the food was pretty good considering it was institutional food."

"It is a very big community. They have several floors. It is the best one I've visited. It's very clean and very well structured. The staff was very nice and seemed to be concerned about our situation. However, in the end, they couldn't help us because of my brother's criminal record in the past. The dining area was set up like a hotel. The private room was nice and roomy, and it had a bathroom. The residents all seemed happy and engaged in whatever activity they were doing."

The staff is very professional, very loving, and very concerned. The food was awesome. The dining area was great. They do a lot with their residents. "Seacoast at Uptown Oaks had a very pleasant atmosphere. They've got big dining rooms. It's not a real big place, but it's very nice. The rooms were nice sized. They had cupboards and a kitchenette. The room I saw was semi-private, but it was very nice. They had some rooms with patios and they had activities like bingo. They are expanding, so they should be bigger soon. Everything looked clean and well taken care of. I met two of the staff and they were very friendly. The facility was in pretty good shape."
