"All the attendants at Eustis Senior Care were visible and walking around. It's clean, nice, and neat. Everything's tidy. Everyone seemed friendly, very informative and answered all my questions. I liked the fact that it's a locked facility. It's secured. They had the code as you go in and once the door closes, you have to have a code to open it, which I liked. No one can wander out. I didn't see a courtyard. When you first walk up to the entry, there's a little patio area that's gated with a lock. The rooms were pretty big, had a nice sized bathroom, with two beds. They were clean. They were just watching TV because it was early in the morning. The dining room wasn't big, but it was suitable and nice for that size. The room I saw had a nice scent to it. There was no odor in the whole facility at all."

"A Banyan Residence was extremely expensive, but the people there were extremely happy and kind. My husband was in memory care and they had him sitting up in the wheelchair from early in the morning until bedtime often. I complained several times and said that they can't have someone sitting like that all day for a year and half. He needs to lie down and take a nap after lunch and so they started doing that for him. There was a lot of entertainment, where they would go from one entertainment to another and many people that are in charge of activities said, "This is not good for these people. They need to lay down and rest." You just cannot have lunch and put them into this big exercise room that had a huge TV there, and kept them going all day. That was not desirable, but they did many other things that were exceedingly good. The staff were extremely kind, always helpful, and always guiding. The food was horrible. One case was they had a little piece of dried-up, overcooked chicken, very thin, like a piece of paper, that you couldn't even cut with a knife and other things in the plate that you didn't even know what they were. They had two skinny little pieces of bacon and a tablespoon of egg. The Christmas meal was just a disgrace. They had a piece of whole wheat toast, a little piece, like a Pepperidge Farm size, and they put them alongside. No jelly. No butter. They put them in the oven and I said, "Why aren't you toasting it and giving it a nice piece of bread?" They said that they don't have a toaster. I said, "You have a couple hundred people and you don't even have a toaster?" That was just unbelievable. In the morning, no butter on the pancakes and syrup. I really complained and then they started changing things. The place is beautiful, but they are putting all the money outside, on the grounds. They have in many cases, a recliner, that you can't move (if you're really in a horrible shape, I guess you don't need it.) They have so many things going for them, but they're spending a fortune outside in landscaping. It is absolutely an oasis. When you have a memory problem or you're just sitting around staring, you don't need all of that."

"I visited Highpoint at Stonecrest. They have a swimming pool, and it's beautiful and new. I liked everything that I saw. The whole facility is a five plus. The staff was wonderful, very friendly, and very informative. Everything about it was professional. I did see the dining room. It's like a restaurant. The cleanliness was superior. We went in the lobby, which was very well organized, clean, and well maintained. There's plenty of seating. They had a snack bar in there. It's like a hotel lobby. To me it was superior. The only drawback I saw was that the cost to stay there was too expensive from what I can afford."

"Hunt Trace Senior Living was very nice. It's 5 to 10 minutes from my area. The facilities were great. The manager there was great. Everything was great, but the asking price was too much. The staff was excellent. The apartments that they've shown were small, but they were OK. They showed us all the amenities, the common areas, and things like that. It was all very good, but their minimum was like $4,400 a month, and that's not in our ballpark."

"I went to The Summit of Winter Garden. The staff takes the time to talk to you and explain everything to you. The people working there, I feel more comfortable talking to them. They really care. They have a gym and they have an outside where you can sit down, and it's really good."

"We toured Brookdale Wekiwa Springs. The lighting in the restaurant area where the residents go to eat seemed kind of dim to me, maybe a little more lighting or whatever. We spoke with the director. My oldest daughter went with me. We toured a couple of the rooms. One was just like a studio room and the other one was like a one-bedroom. She was able to answer questions and she gave us more information about the kinds of activities that they have for their residents. They served us lunch."

There was no furniture in the place when I last saw it, but when people move in, they bring their own furniture. "
