I was well received at Brookdale Lake Tavares. There was a welcome sign as I entered the reception desk. They provided me with some water as a refreshment. The director who was going to do the tour came down. However, I thought the tour was rather brief and I was not seated in an office so I would have an opportunity to ask questions. The tour took no more than 10 minutes. They thanked me for coming and that was pretty much it. The lady who did the tour knew that I was expected at a certain time. I arrived a little bit early because I hadn't been to the community before and when she came down, she said that she was on a conference call, I believe, or a Zoom call, and I guess I interrupted that. She was very professional, but somewhat on the brief side, maybe a tiny bit abrupt. I spoke with some of the residents there and they seemed to be happy with the facility. They showed me a room and it was very nicely appointed and very cheerful. All the amenities that were there would work well for my husband or for anyone who was staying there. It was very nicely presented, at least the model room was, so I'm assuming that his room would be similar to that if we had selected that facility. The dining area was more formal. I was on another level looking down. It looked like they had tablecloths and cloth napkins. It was also very nicely presented. I left feeling that it was an OK place. Everything seemed to be professionally maintained as far as the exterior and the interior.

I toured Brookdale Lake Tavares, and I liked it. First thing, the personality of the person that was in charge was good for her position. She showed me the place upstairs and downstairs as much as I was willing to walk. For me, that makes the place. If you don't like or don't feel comfortable with a person that I have to see maybe daily or at least weekly, it's not a good place for me. My main thing here is that the person in charge was really good. The rooms were very nice and well-kept. I met the residents, and they were friendly. The dining area was clean and well set up. They had different games and they had movie nights. They had gone outside for activities, like sightseeing and visiting different places in the area, which I like very much. Counting the age of the place, deterioration is already there.

I particularly didn't care for Brookdale Lake Tavares because it was like an apartment complex, and it was kind of dark inside. The rooms were OK. They were older, but they were OK. There's a couple of people who smoked outside and they go back into the room, so I told them that I don't want my mother going into a room that has people that smoke outside because their clothes would smell like smoke. The front office staff was knowledgeable, but I didn't get a chance to talk to any of the sub-staff like the nurse's aides and the nurses. They were very knowledgeable and cordial. They just showed me the rooms. They showed me what they have. They had an entertainment area where they do bingo, checkers, and cards, and you can go in there. There's a quiet area as they call it, and you can go put puzzles together, and there are games and stuff for them to do there. They also have an activity director.

My mom moved into Brookdale Lake Tavares. The apartments were very nice, theyre very roomy, bigger than most places, and very well-kept. Im very happy with the facility. Its not as big, only three-stories. The price had a lot to do with it, and its close to where I live. They have bus trips that go here and there, my mother doesnt participate, but they have quite a bit going on. The staff has been very helpful, and I dont have any complaints.

We liked Brookdale Lake Tavares very much. The apartments had a bedroom, a big walk-in closet, a living room, a dining area, and a little kitchenette. They were nice. You didn't feel like you were just stuck in a room. It's had a nice balcony too. They have entertainment, music, church on Sunday, bible study, bingo, and cards. The dining area was beautiful and we met the chef. The food was very good. They've got a lovely library and they have an outdoor patio that looks out on the lake. You can walk near the lake and sit on the benches down there. It's just beautiful. They have a community room and a computer room. The staff was wonderful. It's beautiful on the outside and very nice on the inside.

Brookdale Lake Tavares was very good for my mother. She would be happy there, but it was too much money. The staff was very good, very friendly, and seemed to be very concerned about the patients.
