I live in Massachusetts but was the Next of Kin, PoA, Health Care Proxy for my aunt in Tucson. In January of 2015 she got really sick and could no longer live by herself. I spent 5 months in Tucson figuring everything out, preparing her home for sale, etc. I was so blessed to have found Crossroads. When she moved in, I chose a semi-private room because if she ever transitioned to Medicaid I did not want there to be any shifts in her living arrangements. She had most of her marbles and later told me how blessed she was to have found this place and bought it... I nodded. Each year I came to visit and she and I talked every week without fail. It was such a gift to me to absolutely KNOW that I did not have to worry, that she was receiving excellent care, that she was happy, that I too could sleep at night. She had no family out there but had lived and worked in Tucson since the 70's. Her roommate at the time was 104. Now you don't get to be 104 if you are not being well taken care of. The food is great. The staff are caring. If you are looking for a place for someone you are caring for, I would encourage you to schedule a visit. It is spacious and offers options for people who like the outside, like the inside, have their marbles, are missing some marbles. No matter where you go though, I would make one suggestion. Gather your loved ones photos, get them scanned, get a digital frame and upload them. This will save you lots of space and the frames usually double as a clock/calendar and picture frame. You can set the pictures to cycle through. It is so important to keep people connected, stimulate their memories of whatever is important to them.

- Special Comment: Crossroads offers an innovative independent option for couples. Oftentimes one spouse or the other may require additional care; yet, the couple chooses to remain somewhat independent…private. Or perhaps one spouse is the Caregiver for the other but would just feel a little more comfortable knowing help is just next door. Crossroads offers regularly schedule activities and continually searches for ways to add to our Residents’ life experiences. From arts and crafts, bingo, ice cream socials and tea parties to making bird feeders and memory boxes, there are always events to anticipate. Special planned events with outside entertainment are held in our outdoor Pavilion area and we anxiously anticipate the ground breaking of our raised vegetable garden where Residents can assist in growing our very own organic produce!

I was impressed with Crossroads Adult Care Community because it was very clean. Everyone looked very well cared for, happy, and very engaged in what they were doing which was nice. I got a good feeling from the people that I talked to there. The staff were very thorough and answered all of my questions. They invited us to see the different houses there on the property and the grounds. They even showed us what each person's responsibilities are. I saw some of the residents outside, some were walking, and some were out on the patio reading.
