Tucson is a big city of 520,116 people located near Mount Lemmon and Saguaro National Park in sunny Arizona. The city is home to the Arizona-Sonora museum where seniors can enjoy a stroll while viewing the outdoor attractions. Tucson seniors, who make up 13.6% of the total population, also have access to abundant municipal services to help keep them active in the community. The city has three dedicated senior centers and many other programs with specific activity calendars that cater to retirees. For example, the Tucson Parks and Recreation Senior Activity Card connects people 50 years and older to a wide variety of activities such as fitness classes, field trips and festivals.
To help seniors discover the most senior-friendly locations around the country, Caring.com conducted a new study, “The Best and Worst Places for Senior Living.” The Caring Senior Living Report analyzes and ranks 300 cities and 50 states on the quality of senior living in that area. The cities were graded using 46 metrics across five categories: Health Care, Senior Living & Housing, Affordability, Quality of life, and Transportation.
