We chose Via Linda Assisted Living for mom because it's a mile from my house, and it's small. They only have 10 residents. It's like a family. It's like a private community, and I was impressed with the owner/manager. The same people would be helping her all the time. There's not a big turnover in staff and all that. The room is small, and we have complete freedom to do whatever we want in there, so we will make it hers for sure with our own furniture and things they will provide. Their dining area has a table for 10, and it is in a great room, adjacent to the kitchen. It's very nice and kind of elegant. There's plenty of parking. There is hardly anybody there.

Ancala Assisted Living of North Scottsdale is a fairly new facility and run by a gentleman who's a nurse. There are about four or five people there, so the care is really good. We're very happy about where my mom is living. The rooms are very spacious, clean, and my mom has a couple of her own things in there. It has a nice, big bathroom and an open shower which you can just wheel a wheelchair in. The food is specially home cooked, and they try to accommodate what the residents want.
