The facility was only 6 months old when I moved my parent into the memory care unit (late 2022). A new director was hired mid year of 2023. During this time most of the original staff has quit or were forced to leave. Dining room servers who were experienced with working with older adults were replaced with the directors high school aged son and his friends. Most of these new servers had no restaurant experience let alone experience working with individuals with severe memory problems. Care givers are attentive but their turnover now is frequent. The nursing director (LPN credentials I believe) only started working the floor because they can’t hire staff qualified to hand out meds. The director actually pitched in and served meals in the dining room because the head cook quit after several months. Food is fare to mediocre. The hardest working individual is “I” in housekeeping! “S”, the concierge, is very friendly and knowledgeable. Room size for memory care is adequate. A queen size bed takes up a lot of room so a full or twin would be better. There is no supply store available for residents to pick up and buy a few essentials, but I believe a bus for assisted living goes weekly to either the grocery store or Walmart. Parking has been a challenge lately because the construction workers building the apartments next door frequently use the independent and assisted living facility parking for their convenience. I would give Vista Winds Memory Care a 2.5-3 on a 5 point scale.

Vista Winds is very new. It's like a year and a half old. We had lunch there and another couple came over, introduced themselves, and chatted with us during lunch, so that was very nice. They were very friendly, and we liked that. The food was really good. Being that everything was so new, it was very nice. We interacted with that salesperson who was very nice. The waitress was very nice, too. They had a nice gym. They had a beauty parlor where I could get my nails done and all that. They're still kind of getting up and going with the different rooms and activities since they haven't filled all the rooms yet. If you have an interest, you can share it, and they'll try to set up a group that has that interest, too. They were very accommodating that way. There was a pool and a courtyard; it was very nice.

We toured Vista Winds, and it went fine. The facility presents itself very nice. We are moving into this community because it's closest to our daughter. The person who toured us was Elizabeth, and she did fine. We had lunch with them, and it was very good. The staff was very pleasant and very informative.
