"We really liked the apartments here. They had large rooms that were very clean. The person who took us around was very good. The apartments that were shown to us were close to the main building where the activities are and we liked that. We liked the lounge rooms and we liked the fact that we could walk outside. They serve two meals a day and the staff member we met was topnotch."

"I toured Thunderbird Senior Living. I did see their menu and everything seemed good. It's like an all-day kind of thing. It's open all day. The facility was clean and nice. I was impressed. It was very well-maintained. The rooms were nice. I'm interested in the studio, large, it was a pretty good size, and it'll work for me. The staff was very friendly and informative."

"My mother is in LifeStream at Thunderbird. I really like the marketing director, Cindy. She was very accommodating, patient, and walked us through the process. The facility is really nice inside, and my mom went into the assisted living portion of it where they provide every hour check ins, do the laundry, have three meals a day, have a nurse, blood drawn on-site, doctors, and transportation if she needs to go to an outside doctor. They charge about $5 per five miles. They also have a bus that takes them shopping to different locations and plan activities to keep the seniors engaged and out of their rooms. My mom seems to be enjoying her time in a two-room suite where she gets one bedroom and somebody else gets the other bedroom, which is currently empty. They have a kitchenette and a handicap bathroom. What I liked about the handicap bathroom is they have soap on the wall, a towel dispenser, and provide all of the bathroom tissue, so there's not really an expense associated with that for somebody that has support on a government program. It's actually cost-saving. "

"The tour at Adobe Country Gables was fine. The place was clean. Everything was good. The staff was very personable, nice, and informative. They showed me a couple of rooms. They were medium-sized, and some were large rooms. They said that the residents could pick what food they wanted. They had an outside porch and a barbecue area. They had different activities. They have a doctor who comes in for care. The living atmosphere was very good."

"The staff were very kind and attentive at The Woodmark at Sun City. The rooms were lovely, but this facility does not accept Medicaid. "

"The rooms at Fellowship Square of Phoenix were nice. The lady who gave us the tour was very helpful, and she followed up to see if there was anything else she could do for my friend. The facility was nice, but not as polished as the others, and it was less value for the dollar."

"Brookdale Central Paradise Valley was very clean when we walked in. The rooms were a nice size and newly remodeled. The people were very nice. The selection for the food good, and the kitchen is open longer. "

"I moved into Revel McDowell Mountain. I chose it because it fulfilled most of what I was looking for. My apartment is adequate. The staff is excellent. The amenities offered are equal to or a little better than those of others I checked out. It has all those activities, which most of the places I looked at contain. They seemed a little better organized and a little better at information sharing. I picked this place over others because of the staff, friendliness, cooperation, and willingness to take care of any little things that may be different. The variety of food and portions are good. The service is also very good. The value was very good, but the only drawback that I've seen in the place was the design of the rooms. Whoever designed these rooms did not design them for senior citizens. The cabinetry is to the ceiling, and no senior will be climbing on ladders to put stuff in, so everything above a certain level is unusable."

"We toured MorningStar Senior Living at Golden Ridge. The gentleman (who is probably in his early 20s) did a very good job. He got some experience in caring for family members. Usually, the younger generation doesn't understand the older generation. He was very polite and very well-versed. It is a five-star community. It's very new with all the modern amenities. Everything is under one roof. The staff was very nice. We walked around and looked at a lot of the people that work in various areas like the arts and crafts or somebody that works in the garden area. We had the opportunity to talk to them. It's in a newer area and it's 35 or 40 years newer, so it's built on a modern basis versus the other place that is keeping up with it. It was an excellent tour, and it was great. However, what we were looking for specifically was a community that would accept ALTEC if my parents ran out of money, and MorningStar did not. They are a private pay-only community. It's as nice as any of the other private pay communities that we've gone to, it's just my parents won't be able to afford that. They will run out of money before they pass on because my mom is in really good shape. Nevertheless, the staff were wonderful. They're amazing. "

"My sister will be going to Glencroft. She liked it because it's faith-based. You get a lot for what you pay for. It has an indoor pool, which is really important because she loves the water aerobics. They have their own bank and five different restaurants they can choose. She got more for her money there. They offer movies, exercises, their own little grocery store, and a primary care doctor right on campus that she could use every day. They have different doctors who come in for skin checks and a podiatrist. It's an older facility that's been there for a long time, and it's not as fancy as some of the other ones. The food was very good."

"My friend is in ACOYA Shea. It's fabulous. We chose it because it was new. The staff is very helpful. The food is a five. They have movie nights, trivia, a beauty salon, a gym, and a fitness center."

"My impression of Madison Meadows is very good. The staff is also quite good. I was impressed. The food is quite good. The residents seem very comfortable. "

"The Ranch Estates at Scottsdale is very welcoming and very efficient. They had availability when we needed it for my mom-in-law so we moved her in. We liked that their location was closer to where her daughter lives and where some of her doctors are located. She is in proximity to the area that she was familiar with and where she used to live. So a lot of those things played out in the thought process of why we chose that place for her. It's also very clean and very nice. She has a one-bedroom apartment with a kitchen. She has an outdoor patio if she chooses to use it. There is a pool facility, exercise, and all the other basic amenities that almost all of the senior places have. They have on-demand dining so you can go in any time and order whatever you want from a select menu, which is very accommodating. There's a salon and nails can be done on-site. Transportation seems to be pretty easy to organize and there always seems to be activities of people coming and going. The staff has all been extremely responsive. I think my mom-in-law is much happier now because she has that responsiveness and everybody's been welcoming there. No questions asked. All the staff came in to introduce themselves to her, let her know that she was going to be taken care of, and open their arms to try to make this thing a special place."
