"Amethyst Gardens is clean and the people who showed me around were nice. The rooms were nice and all had sliding doors that went out into the courtyards. There's also easy access for the residents. They have Bingo and weekly outings."

"I toured The Montecito, and the staff was good. They were remodeling a lot of stuff. Their rooms were exceptional. They had individual casitas. It was like independent living. It was more private, and they had a kitchen and a dishwasher."

"Vista del Rio was good. My friend went downstairs and ate with other people at different tables. He could go out within his room, go out and visit with people, the tables had tablecloths all set for them, and everything was clean. He would ask the other residents how they were doing, and they would answer, “Great.” I think it was a great place. "

There's nothing bad that I can say about it. The staff was very nice. They have housekeeping and activities. The facility is clean."

"I chose Inspira Arrowhead for my friend because of their responsiveness, they're so kind, just the services, the price, and the cleanliness. I couldn't say enough. They bend over backwards to just make you feel like this is your home. It's not quite my taste of architecture, but everything looks very well built. It looks like a small resort. It's nice, maybe not my colors, but other people might like it. Everybody has different tastes, but everything that they did was done tastefully. It seems like a wonderful value. It's close to everything that he knows, so it's accessible. It's within his three-mile radius of everything and everybody he knows."

"Everything about Adobe Country Gables was so organized and friendly for the residents. They looked happy and content. The whole place was just organized so well for memory care. Their rooms are just the right size with access to the rest of the home and activities. There's a large eating area, a large living room with comfortable furniture, and a large backyard with a covered patio for them. I also looked at the menu, and it was very extensive and perfect for my husband."

"Westgate Village is the only community we went to, and my uncle fell in love with it. The community within the facility is amazing. They have a chapel, and they have Bible study. And these are very important to my uncle. And him being allowed to have his little pet just thrills him. They have a one-bedroom apartment that he likes. His furniture will fit there. He can see himself living there. It's so welcoming. The staff is so amazing. My uncle just felt accepted and included. And he was thrilled about the chapel being in the facility. And if he wants to go to his own church, transportation will take him. This is just an incredible place. The dining area was beautiful. We met the chef. He was very accommodating. He told my uncle that he would be glad to fix the things that he liked, and he'd make sure he had hot sauce and chili sauce and everything he needed. They'll get him stevia. They were so accommodating. The staff we met were incredible people."

"I've been here in Thunderbird Senior Living for a long time now. I came here with my wife. I'm in independent living right now. I live in a studio, and I get two meals a day. They've recently changed management companies, and they've been doing a lot of fix-up, painting, and all that kind of good stuff. In general, I think they're doing a good job that way. They changed their chefs, and the meals are quite good. They have a lot of activities. The reason I came here in the first place is because of the friendliness of the people. When you come here, there's always somebody out and about. It's not like some places I've been to where there's nobody out doing anything, except maybe sitting in a restaurant. Here, you meet a lot of people who become your friends. We have a courtyard and all the baby ducks like to visit there. They put some new koi fish in the pond and some turtles, too. There are a lot of tall trees that provide very good shade. The grounds are good, and they are always trying to improve them. It's a three-floor building, and there are a lot of residents. They have assisted living and memory care, besides the independent living."

"I toured LifeStream at Glendale. I thought it was a nice community, and I just wish it was closer to my area of town. I like the little window in the kitchen by the sink where you can set plants or decorate. It's a nice touch, because you don't have much area for a garden or anything like that, but you can put stuff in the window. Everybody that I came across was just, "Oh, you would really like it," and the food is good. She said once in a while there's something we don't like, but otherwise it's all good. The staff was very nice."

"I liked MorningStar Senior Living at Golden Ridge. That was honestly the one that I would have preferred to have my dad at, but my stepmother lives in Gilbert, and she wanted my dad closer to her. They did independent all the way through memory care, but I was looking at memory care. They did exercise and arts and crafts, they said they had music come in once a week, and they had "no cooking" cooking class. They had a very big foyer, a big dining area, and an outdoor area that was enclosed for memory care, so they could still go out, but it was still secured. The staff members were all really friendly. What I liked about that place was its philosophy was mingling the different levels of care. In a lot of places I went to, the memory care people just stay in that one unit and they couldn't go anywhere else. Whereas at MorningStar, they mix them, so all of the activities there were for independent living all the way through memory care. There was a lot more interaction happening. They were telling how the independent people living there would help the people in memory care do whatever the activity is. This is all that they told me. My dad did not end up going there, so I don't know how it played out in real life, but I liked that idea, especially with my dad. He's just barely at the start of memory care need. I liked the idea of him getting to be more socially interactive with others because that would help him with his cognition, just having that socialization happening. I like that the activities they plan were for everybody and they would take the people from memory care out, so they weren't just always locked away. I also like that if my stepmom had chosen to, she could stay with him in the memory care area, but still be independent. She could come and go as she wanted because in most of the places if they were in memory care, they couldn't have someone living with them. I liked that they could have stayed together at that place. They were the only place that I went to that had those options."

"I thought the Glencroft Center for Modern Aging was very nice. They had a two-bedroom, and it had a patio. The living room was small, I thought. There was no kitchen. They had what they call a galley, but it's about half the size of a galley you've ever seen. I like it except for the space. The thing is that I have a walker and a scooter, but there's no place to put them. They said I have to put them in your apartment, but if I put them in my apartment, I wouldn't be able to get out. I cannot walk; I'm in a wheelchair at home, but I use a walker for short distances. So, I could not manage that. I thought the facilities they had were very good. The price they had was especially very good. The two bedrooms were wonderful, and the patio was great. However, there's no place to eat. They only give you one meal a day, so I would have to make my own breakfast, but if I put even a small table in the living room, it would take it right up. It's also very clean, and it looked very good, but it just wasn't for me. Also, I can't do my own laundry, so I would have to set up something special for that. So, I had to let it go. The gentleman who took me around was very good. He explained everything. He took me around to see what activities they had and so on and so forth, and I thought they were also good. I sampled the food, and the food was okay. I didn't go to the regular dining room. They had another one there, and that's where they sent me to have lunch because I stayed there very long. Overall, the facility was pretty good except that things are kind of spread out and a little difficult to get to. I couldn't get anywhere without a scooter, I couldn't use my walker, and I wouldn't be able to walk those distances."

"I live in Estrella Estates now. It is very nice. It is a very new facility. They have only been open for a year. It is very modern. The management is good. My only complaint is the food sometimes is not good to me, but everybody has your own way of cooking meals, and what they prefer. That’s my only complaint; otherwise, they are wonderful. In the activities, I like the beanbag baseball. "
