Goldwater is such a beautiful place on 55th avenue but it was already full when I went to tour the facility. There's no opening some time soon and there are people in the waiting list and I really needed to find a place for my mother then. The house is actually build specifically for care. It's a newer facility compared to others and it's a little sophisticated too. Their rooms are spacious enough. They have a lot of sophisticated activities. They have a lot of music and they have a piano. People just come in and play. I saw them preparing food and it's very organized and very well ran. They also have an organized exercise program every morning. Also since my mom has dementia, she prefers to be in a smaller place and smaller crowd. I think that she would be having a hard time if she lives there but I would probably live there in the future. It's a very nice facility- excellent I would say.

What you see is not what you get. Owner does not have a lot of patience, nor enough help. Is not able to care for dementia patients with sundowners. One live in couple expected to do most of work including getting up at night with patients in 10 room facility. Needs to be a person separately scheduled to work night shift. The minute there is any problem the family is called and given veiled threats to outright ultimatums. We had to leave another state 3 times in 6 month period to stop the threats and put out fires when if enough qualified help was hired this would not have been a problem. The owner cannot give shots, does bare minimum to ensure peace for dementia resident or their family. If you have a loved one with Alzheimer's dementia with sundowners, you will become increasingly stressed at threatened eviction when you are promised help to hospice in this facility. Sometimes you really can't read a book by its cover...
