We've found a place for my husband in Mountlake Terrace. It's called Amazing Care AFH and it's a private family-run business. The place was so lovely. When I walked in, the gentleman, Jim, and the woman that runs it, Elizabeth, were just so caring and kind. It was the best thing I did for my husband. Elizabeth now has her license to run it with her son, Sammy. They adore my husband, and he adores them. It's all fenced-in yard, it's a rambler, so when you walk in, there's a living room to the right and you can go straight to the kitchen then on the left there's 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. It goes all the way around the hall and back to the kitchen, family room, or dining room, and then the living room. With dementia, my husband walks a lot so this was the perfect setup. It was the second house I saw and I fell in love with it. I think it's just assisted living. They make his meals, do his laundry, change his bedding, and help shower him. He wasn't walking for a while, so they had to move him around in a wheelchair and bathe him every day. He's walking there now and they just help bathe him. He loves it there. The food is great. She makes fresh kale vegetables every night with meat or a protein and he's eating very nicely. The atmosphere is great too. Elizabeth is so upbeat and she is just a wonderful person. Yesterday, they put on a CD with music and she said, "Let's dance" and my husband was just cracking up while she danced. It's just a great atmosphere. It's also a very clean place. For activities, he only likes listening to music and playing his guitar. He sleeps a lot, so he doesn't do a lot. I went over there one time and he hadn't had lunch so I went over and woke him up to have him eat. I brought him some food and he loved it. Activity-wise, they sometimes go outside for a walk in the yard. They have a ramp down in the backyard, and they sit out there for a little while in the two-seater chair that they have. He doesn't do many activities. He just usually listens to YouTube music and stuff, that's what he likes. There's another resident there, she's older than him and she has dementia too, but they get along so well. He wets all the time because he's incontinent but his room never smells like urine. There's only one time that he smelled and it was because they didn't realize what it was. It was his shoes, he must have peed on them and nobody noticed. That's the only time though. Other than that, his clothes and his beddings are always clean, and the bedroom is always aired out.
