I toured Serenity Care of Virginia. I went by myself. It was very tidy and clean. It was inviting. There were no odors. It wasn't like a nursing home-type environment. It was refreshing. Everyone seemed very polite. It just seemed relaxed. My sister has to have pureed food, and they offered to buy equipment to puree her meals. They were selective and they wanted to make sure that it was a peaceful, happy environment for the residents. They have a Hoyer lift there, too, so that's important for what our needs are. They seemed to be more personal with the residents, and they were concerned about them and their needs. They're there for them. There are four residents, and I think there are three rooms. For the price, my sister would be in a room with somebody else. I also met her potential roommate as well. It's the type of environment I would love for my sister to be in.

My father is going to go to Serenity Care of Virginia for two weeks. Everything was good. The staff was knowledgeable. She came from a big box nursing home-type place and wanted a smaller place to give individual care, which we thought was good. It's just like a regular house. They had about three or four residents and private rooms. One of the things that's also unique there is you eat what you want to eat. You give them a shopping list and they'll make what you want. It's not like everybody used the same thing.

The company staff/owners have been incredibly helpful; they attentively listened to my needs and concerns. They expressed genuine empathy and compassion. They reached out to me days later to ensure that I didn’t need anything else, but also reassured me that they know it’s a difficult decision and to ultimately do what’s best for me and my loved one. Praying that my siblings and I can all agree that this is the best place for our mom.

Serenity Care of VA is really amazing, honestly my Mother and I weren’t big fans of the huge corporate assisted living centers. I came across Serenity Care, their home is so welcoming, and accommodating. Ms. Doreen is very attentive, and hands on, and the management was able to work with me financially. I am blessed to have found you all, and I am relieved to know my mother is in good hands.
