I'm on a waiting list at Aspire at West End. That's the only place I toured. It's a nice and clean place. I like its cleanliness. They offered food, but I didn't try it. They offer everything that an independent living offers. They have a salon and an indoor swimming pool. It's a good place. It's near restaurants.

Aspire at West End was great. The only thing was the price point. I couldn't afford it, but it was just a wonderful place. The staff was great. I had no problem with it at all. I didn't meet too many people other than my tour guide, but there were a couple of technicians and they were very nice and very helpful. They invited us to have a meal, but we didn't have time to stay. The facility was very nice. They had everything that you could want, like the pool, and the dining area, and even compensated you with a meal card that you could use in the dining room. The dining room looks like a restaurant. Everything was just fantastic and clean. They were even updating their Internet system to high speed. It was just great.

Aspire at West End was very welcoming, and I was very impressed with it. It was a fairly new building. They had a handicapped parking outside where you could drive up and let people off. They had places in the front where some of their clients could sit. We went inside the automatic sliding doors, and there was a welcome room with a welcome desk. And then there was a lounge area. Behind it, they had a meeting room where they had a little party going on and then the cafeteria was there. A vendor had come in and they had brought pizza in for them to have a little social gathering while the vendor was sharing whatever they were sharing. They had 1-bedroom and 2-bedroom apartments. You could bring in your own caretakers or they had caretakers that you could hire. The staff was very good, very helpful, and very welcoming, and she wanted to help in any way that she could.

Aspire at West End was fantastic. Everything was just perfect, but it's for people who aren't working and want to have a lifestyle. I'm working and I'm exercising. They were just outstanding. They had everything. They have exercise, and they have all kinds of excursions. If you need a companion, you can hire somebody. They have a list of agencies that will help you out. They had a one-bedroom and the layout was outstanding. The hospital is in the vicinity.

Since August 2021, I have been living at Aspire at West End. What attracted me to this particular senior community were the in house restaurant, an indoor pool and supposed weekly cleaning services. Unfortunately, in the last 17 months, the pool has been available for use only a few weeks, the restaurant food options and quality have severely decreased (yet prices went up), the cleaning service doesn't really do any cleaning and there have been tremendous staff turn overs as well as shortages. With all those issues, it really is not appropriate to raise rent prices. Since you are not able to deliver everything that I was promised when I moved in, the rent should go down in it's monthly price.

I am on the waiting list for Aspire at West End. I like the floor plan. I like the average age of the residents. It is the closest facility to my daughter and her family. The staff was very friendly, very helpful, and knowledgeable. The director was the one who took me on tour. She was delightful, and she cares very much about her facility and the people who live there. The community is strictly independent living. The chef came out and met us when my daughter and I had dinner there. We were both impressed with the quality of the food. The people that I was in contact with were all very polite and very caring. The food was excellent. They only have independent living and don't have anything else for the others. If I were to need assisted living or something that was beyond what I could do with home health care, I would have to move. It doesn't bother me. I'm young enough now that I don't foresee that in the near future. Their median age is 72. They have several quite young people like in their late fifties, so they're more my age.

The place stands out because all else in this densely populated area seems long in the tooth. The Highway shop is one neighbor on Basie Road where something attracts fast, loud cars and motorcycles. This 2019 construction was clearly done at the lowest possible cost; it looks good but things tend to fit poorly, make noise (think washer, dishwasher, refrigerator) and yet look nice because they're new. Lots of staff turnover and food for which all pay monthly, is sketchy at best. Activities range from coloring books to NASCAR race tickets, local plays to D.C. or mountain day trips. Yes, transportation is provided to doctor's appointments if you make them on Tue. or Thurs.

I like Aspire at West End very much. It actually reminds you of going into a hotel. They have a very nice dining room. We liked the two people we met. They had the same sort of sense of humor and interests. The food was very good. The dining room is not utilitarian looking. They have exercise machines, and people who can do the training. You have to pay extra for that. They have trips to places in Richmond. The apartments are all new, moderate-sized, and modern.

Aspire at West End is not bad. It's right in the middle of a large apartment complex, so there's a lot of people, and a lot of cars are all around. So, it's not real quiet at different times. There is a small swimming pool which is in need of repair since I've been here, but I don't use the pool anyways, then they have a bus to go to the stores if that's what you need. The only thing is just the location itself. It's not too far from the train station, so there are trains coming in at different times. Sometimes you can hear whistles at night. Also, there has been big staff turnover, and so you see new people frequently that sometimes don't even have staff available for certain areas, and there's not a lot of food choices here, but those staff members that I've talked to seemed interested in what they do.
