The Best Independent Living Communities in Spotsylvania County, VA

"We liked everybody we met. It seemed clean, and the residents seemed very friendly. Everybody was interacting with each other, and they had a big dining hall where everybody could go and eat together. They had lots of activities going on. They had a movie room, and they can go on day trips on their little van, so there are a lot of things going on. "

"Chancellor’s Village was wonderful overall, especially the person who showed me around, Vicky, the sales person. Their amenities were beautiful, and it's a beautiful place. At the time, we were looking for my mother and brother, but they didn't offer any two-bedroom apartments, so that was the reason we didn't go with them, but we probably would have gone with them initially. They recommended the community where my mom is now. They have happy hours, bingo, they have people come in to entertain, and they have trips that they take to different activities in the community like the theater and things like that. The dining area was really nice. Everyone that I met there was extremely nice, and I was greeted by everyone I walked by. The place smelled good, not old or icky."

"I just visited Harmony at Falls Run yesterday. The price is lower. Virginia, who was the person giving the tour, did a great job. I wanted to see one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments. I like the levels, like independent living and assisted living, and the benefits of using other assistance as I needed it. It's very comparable to the other place as far as square footage. They're nice apartments. I'm very satisfied with the tour. Another plus is that there are residents there that came to Falls Run, so it wouldn't be like I would be moving to a place where I wouldn't know anybody. Several residents are already living over there."

"Potomac was very expensive and not affordable for me. The rooms were a little larger than what I saw at the other place, but they had the same activities. They were not willing to help me in making it more affordable. They had a therapy room, a large dining room, and a nice garden area outside. I guess they have to be more accommodating, and they weren’t as friendly as I thought they would be. "

"We live in Summerlake right now. It is an over 65 community and a wonderful place too, but it just doesn't have continuing care. This is just a community of seniors living in an area that is a gated community for seniors. We have movies and gatherings of various sorts where generally people bring refreshments and everybody contributes. It is more like a neighborhood arrangement of friends. One thing they can improve is to have an exercise room. "

"We went to Alexander Heights, and we liked it very much. It’s the facility closest to my daughter. The apartment was very nice. It had a washer and dryer, a kitchen, one bedroom, and entrance to the bath from two different places. The price was average. They had recreation rooms, and everything about it was nice. "
