My dad was at this facility for just under two months. Although they say cameras are in place throughout, I am not sure that the owners or whoever is in charge here, really knows how the residents are being treated. The staff here is extremely nice but spend a LOT of time on their cell phones during their shift. We even saw staff members SLEEPING or dozing off during their shifts! A couple staff members even make it apparent that they do not like their job, which is very disconcerting when you know they are taking care of your family member. My dad needed help being coaxed to eat and needed help being fed. The staff would ask him if he was hungry and if he was out of it (mentally confused), they would walk away and not even try to get him to eat. I would go by to see him daily and I could always get him to eat. It just took gentle coaxing and some patience. Also, we never once saw anyone at this facility check my Dad's vital signs. There were no records kept of what he ate and when, when he was changed or whether or not hospice noticed any changes in my Dad's status -- and believe me, there were changes. But we always had to call hospice after visiting with my Dad because the staff here did not appear to ask any questions of the hospice nurse that came to see Dad. Its like they were not even communicating with the hospice service. We never saw any activities here either. Nothing being done to stimulate the patients. We didn't know any better though. We had never had a family member in hospice care before. We thought this place would be great because it was so close to home. But after seeing the staff asleep on the small couch in the kitchen for probably the 50th time, and researching what a care home is SUPPOSED to do, we moved my dad. If you just need a place to keep your loved one until they pass away, then this is your care home. Because there is very little care here. The owner comes through only occasionally, in a mad dash to pick up the monthly checks - and has absolutely zero interest in the patients in his facility. My Dad had been there a month before I finally met the owner. And when I spoke to him and mentioned my Dad's name, he had a blank look on his face because he did not know who my Dad was. Please, if you love your family member, do not send them here. There is better care available at more affordable pricing. I promise you.
