My grandmother moved into The Pointe at Kirby Gate. I liked that we were able to move in quickly. My grandmother enjoys the food there, and the nursing staff is pretty awesome. They have a salon that's always busy, so you know that the residents like the hair salon and the nail salon there. They have activities almost daily that they encourage their residents to attend and participate in. I find the facility to be very nice. The rooms have a nice little kitchenette, which was exciting for us. It is very clean and smells clean.

I went to The Pointe at Kirby Gate. It's small but intimate and friendly. It's kind of a quaint close-knit community. The person who gave the tour was very knowledgeable and caring. The room was nice and modern for an elderly person. The rooms were clean. The rooms were not very large, but large enough for someone who is elderly. They don't need a lot of space, especially with some memory issues. The dining area looked efficient for the community. It seemed like it was well-staffed. In terms of activities, the person that gave me the tour told us that they provide activities. They had arts and crafts or something like that.

I liked The Pointe at Kirby Gate a lot. It was very small. It was intimate. It looked like a very tight community. It was clean. Everybody was very kind. It looked like there was a lot of interaction among seniors. There was a lot there that was positive about it. I didn't notice anything that was negative other than they told me that they were short-staffed as most people are right now. The staff were friendly. I got to tour a double room. It was very clean. It was very nice. It seemed like the AC was working well. It had a good window view. It was very nice. I saw the cafeteria, a sitting room, and a spa area where they wash their hair and stuff. That's all I saw; it was very small.

The one that we ended up choosing was The Pointe at Kirby Gate. The people who worked there were very nice. One of the things that my dad liked was that they had fewer patients than the other ones did, and the room was immediately available. We were turned down by a number of them because of my mom's physical limitations. My dad was happy that they were willing to give it a try, and they were willing to give it a try because they had plenty of staff to be able to handle her. The staff was very understanding of the situation that I'm in. I'm not in charge of this. My dad is the one who chooses, and I'm the one that just goes in and agrees with him. It was nice that they understood my predicament because I don't get to pick whether my mom goes in or not, so I thought they were very sweet, caring, and kind. They have a courtyard. I like it because the building is rectangular, and the courtyard is in the center, so there's no way for the patients to sneak out of that outdoor space. I like that. The amenities don't matter to me because it's something my mom is not capable of participating in anymore. But I know there was a lady in there that was painting fingernails for the ladies, and they had a few activities, but my mom is no longer able to do that anymore. It wasn't part of what I was looking for, it was more of having somebody there to watch her all the time and take care of her.

I went to The Pointe at Kirby Gate and toured the memory care. The young lady that showed me around and whom I had a conversation with, was very nice. She gave me plenty of information to go on and suggested a few things as well. The visit was excellent. She knew the area and she answered promptly to my questions. The grounds were nice. The area where my dad would be staying in (if we move him), was also very nice. She took me out to the courtyard where they do little plant things (like vegetables or some flowers) if the residents want to. Then they had a little picnic area that looked nice, quiet, and pleasant. The dining area and the area where they wash all the dishes were all very nice and very clean, too. We saw different rooms and you can decorate some of them the way you want to. They have semi-room and private rooms. They were doing some construction though, but other than that it was clean.

The one that I like was The Pointe at Kirby Gate. It's one of the ones that are on top of my list. It's pretty much everything that I'm looking for. It is a very homey environment. You can just feel the love when you walk into the facility and it's not very large. I didn't want my mother in a very large facility. All of those things, the rooms, and stuff, were perfect. We had a very nice tour guide, very informative. They're very friendly, informative, and welcoming staff. Everything was clean and in order. When you walk in, everything smelled good. Everything is in perfect shape. I didn't see anything out of order. The rooms are perfect. The staff mentioned some activities that they do. They can go out in the lobby and watch TV. They have an area where they can go outside and sit in the lounge. Overall, it's a very positive atmosphere.

The Pointe at Kirby Gate is a nice place. The people are nice. They take care of my mom, and they keep an eye on her. She gets three meals a day. They make sure her room stays clean. They keep up with her. It is working out fine. She has been there for three months now. She is in an apartment. They have a courtyard, they have different activities during the day, and they have some special on Fridays that they do, so it is nice. They keep them busy.

I toured the memory care facility and was very impressed. It was clean, homey and the staff was friendly and seemed to enjoy working there. I met the activities director at the memory care portion and she was very upbeat and the residents seemed to react well with her. I liked most of all the size of the facility and the small population of of residents in the memory care portion. I have toured other memory care facilities and was overwhelmed by their size and number of residents in them. I would not hesitate to place my loved one at The Pointe at Kirby Gate.

My mother stayed at The Pointe at Kirby Gate for less than a month. The staff was great, wonderful, polite, and courteous. They had a salon and a courtyard. My mom really liked the experience.

My 99-year-old Aunt Sarah recently had to come to The Pointe at Kirby Gate to the memory care unit. I say "had to" because she wasn't anxious to leave her own home. I have several comments: 1) The staff was extremely helpful to us in planning and executing her move. They gave us excellent advice as to what to bring and what not to bring, how to arrange her room to make her most comfortable with her new surroundings, and how to time the move to be the least upsetting for her. They also were very helpful in working out the logistics of moving her things in. 2) The ability (indeed the requirement) that we furnish her room, and the recommendation that it be with things she is familiar with and loves, has helped her make the adjustment quite well. 3) The staff are extremely pleasant and professional, and treat the residents with great respect. 4) During the move-in, we were given the door codes so we could come and go at our pleasure. Beyond the convenience, it gave us reassurance (based on evidence) that things weren't being "hidden" from family when nobody was around. Put another way: no "scheduled" visiting hours. 5) The food is very good -- at least, Aunt Sarah has been eating well and has commented favorably about it. The place is also very clean and always smells clean and fresh. 6) My final point is that, if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask the staff. They are always very helpful.

I really liked The Pointe at Kirby Gate and its administrator, but they didn’t have an opening, and I needed a place quickly. The rooms seemed fine.

I was very impressed with Pointe at Kirby Gate and it was close to our neighborhood. I had the people evaluate him, but he did not qualify as he cannot move on his own. I liked it because it was small, and I felt like the people were friendly. I ran into a few of the residents and everybody seemed pretty happy and content. We liked the rooms; they had four styles. The studio was one big room, but it was kind of sectioned off to have the appearance of a separate bedroom -- that was the room I liked -- and it was the smallest which was fine and basic. They had a little small meeting room that they did exercises and it didn't appear as a gym. It was small but I think that’s where they would meet for exercises. They had a little outside patio and a lounge area. Everybody seemed really friendly and homey.

The Pointe at Kirby Gate was clean. It wasn’t as bright as some of the other places but it had a VERY homey attitude. Everybody was VERY friendly. I like very much the idea that every resident had pictures where people would see who they are, what they’re interested in and what they don’t like. When you went in the kitchen, they had pictures of all the residents on the wall with the listing of problems of the different food so the chef knew exactly what they could and could not deal with. It was very nice and individualized. The residents were really engaged in activities. There was a room of people just having a good time. One resident thought I was her daughter so we talked for a few minutes. They also have outside activities like exercise, church activities and happy hour every Friday. They seldom have a vacancy and I understand why.

I like The Pointe because of its size; it is very small, and the people here are just incredible. My mother’s room is fine. They’re having an Easter party, they do Bingo, and they play all kinds of games. They go shopping, and they had a little city tour the other day.

My aunt stayed at The Pointe at Kirby Gate for almost three years before she passed away. She received good care and the staff seemed nice. The residents all looked well-taken care of. The rooms were nice, spacious, very clean and well-appointed. They had a beautiful patio area where the residents could sit and admire the flowers.
