Concordia offered assisted and memory care, and it was well priced and intimate. So far we'd been OK with it. We'd been notified about things as we needed to be. We eat lunch with mom, and we can visit anytime. They clean the room routinely; it really seemed to be a great place for somebody who is assisting in their own living. They have plenty of things to do every day.

I was impressed with Concordia. I thought the facility was nicely laid out. They had an exercise room. One of their smaller facilities had about a hundred beds or so. The room size was appropriate. My father did not really need to have a large room. The residents were fairly active. We saw the list of activities that were offered to the residents, but it was not as relevant to my dad because he was not that type of person. He was a reading kind of person, so he would not engage very much in social activities. We did not taste the food, but we saw the menu and the dining area. They were fine.

We had a good tour at Concordia of Franklin Park. The rooms were of good size, and it's very clean. The place is very well-maintained. Overall, it was good, but just expensive.

Frankly, the Concordia of Franklin Park lied to me. They told me that once my mother was accepted there, they will accept her SSI check, but they didn't. They wanted their money upfront, but they didn't tell me that initially. And then, when they wanted their money upfront, I had to go into my own retirement account to get the money to pay them. It's a beautiful place. She was there almost a year, and I wasn't pleased with the care that they were giving her because she was on the memory unit, and I thought, "Well, just get her out of bed to have her breakfast, lunch and dinner," but they didn't. If my mother didn't want to get out of bed, she didn't get out of bed until I got there after work at 4:00 P.M and got her out of bed. Of course my mother can be difficult sometimes because she does have Alzheimer's, and she would not want to get out of bed, and apparently, they told me that they will not force a person to do something they don't want to do. Therefore, if my mother wanted to stay in bed, she will stay in bed, and I didn't like that. Because she was in the memory unit, they should, at least, try to get her out of bed somehow to enjoy the activities and other stuff that was going on.

I can tell you first hand that Concordia of Franklin Park is an excellent facility. With the caring staff, the great meals, and the many activities my Mom enjoys there, her quality of life is rich with new peer friendships, entertainment on a regular basis, and activities such as word games, math fun, bingo, morning stretch, etc. There's lots of bustle and activity in this beautifully furnished and clean facility. My Mom has many friends with whom she enjoys dining in the nicely appointed dining hall and going to the many activities offered there. Family members stop in frequently and find that whenever we happen to visit, the entire staff is very friendly and helpful. In talking with others who have loved ones in this facility, I have never heard a negative comment. Our family feels very blessed to have found such a wonderfully caring home for our mother.

We went right at dinnertime, so we saw the people eating, and we liked to see how Concordia worked. We got to see people eating and going to dinner. They were excited about going down to the dining hall. They were very elderly, but they seemed very eager because they all have to eat in the dining hall. There is no room service unless there is something extremely wrong. Everybody seemed very happy and very content, and the food looked very appetizing. It's very clean. The staff seemed to be very supportive of the people's concerns. Everybody spoke to us that we passed in the hall, nurse's assistants and people who ran the place. We had a tour guide, the staff member who does the placement. She was walking us through, and everybody was very positive. It's not like you walk down the hall and nobody says anything to you. It was a good experience.

Concordia of Franklin Park is next to our house. We didn't think my mother-in-law would require memory care at that time, so we only visited their regular care. We spoke to their nurses who showed us the facility and it looked okay. The room that I saw was a single, it was well-maintained, and the people can bring their own furniture. It was very welcoming. They do have a lot of activities and they have personnel dedicated to this.

The facility is located in franklin park/swickley pennsylvania. It has a beautiful location and there are trees which surround the place. It's very clean and well decorated. I found staff to be very pleasant. But just as expected, when you walk in one feels a sense of loneliness and seeing the residents gives you sense of depression. Even though the facility looks like an expensive motel with expensive furniture it still has that convalescent home sense. Staff is friendly but speaking to one of the caregivers, she mentioned that for such a depressing place to work , they should be paid well. Apparently, the pay scale is not satisfying. And she mentioned that people(employees) come and go which is disturbing for most residents because they get used to employees and feel like that the employees are family. Speaking with my friend's mother, i figured that she likes the staff but she would rather be home with her son. It is sad that we can not take care of our elders and some day will end up as they are, in one of these facilitie. While there, we heard someone in another room fall and she was crying, my friend and iIgot there before any of the employye arrived, so sometimes the lavish place may not be 100% perfect. The visit overall was ok but sad. I hope nobody has to go to a facility when they are old.
