I visited this facility

The rooms that they showed us at Graceful Care Living just had a bed in them, and that's it. We knew immediately when we got there that that wasn't what we were looking for. The staff mentioned that they have another section for people who are more independent. However, it was still somewhat the same concept. Instead of being in a room, like a small, single room, there were two beds. There was no television in those independent rooms. You have to go out of the room to watch television. It was that type of atmosphere, and my mother doesn't want that. She wants something that's like a small apartment, where she can live in that small space and be able to care for herself. I liked the atmosphere. I liked the staff. They're very nice and very accommodating as we went through the tour. My mom asked questions, although she didn't ask very many because she knew, and I could tell just from how she was withdrawn that she was like, "No, this is not going to work for me." I said it to the guy. I said, she's a lot more independent. She can get around fairly well, but this is not for her. She still needs to be in her own place where she can take care of herself. The only thing that she needed was somebody to help her, like to come in and help her to make sure that she's taking her meds. I didn't smell anything. It was very clean.

I visited this facility

I toured Graceful Care Living. I didn't think that the facility was as clean as I would like it to be. I didn't like the housekeeping of it. The one person we spoke to was very welcoming and kind. It was very spacious. My grandmother is in a wheelchair. So, if she did stay there, it would be bigger than the place she has right now. It's very spacious for her condition, but it doesn't look new. Where she's at right now is more updated than that place.

I visited this facility

We toured Graceful Care Living, and this place is kind of horrible. It's in an old rectory or school and had long, narrow hallways, and uneven floors. Everybody seemed miserable there. There were no adequate fire escapes. The rooms were small and poorly kept. It was not a pleasant place, and the staff seemed flustered, unhappy, and overburdened.

I visited this facility

We visited Graceful Care Living in Sharpsburg and toured the assisted living for my mother. I like that it was convenient because it's close and right in our area. They also have an elevator and ramps, and the people that were there seemed okay. The room I saw had a closet, a bed, and a dresser. Then there was a small room with a little cupboard in it. They were using it as storage for Christmas gifts because this was before Christmas when I went there. The woman who took me on the tour was friendly and very nice. She explained that it's an assisted living facility. She said they bathe twice a week and showed me a big bathroom on the second floor. They had a big TV room with a large TV there, too, and there were people playing games on a computer. I also saw a courtyard and a parking lot. It's assisted living but it's more of a community type of thing. It used to be a nunnery and the church is right across the street from it. It's still set up like that, some parts where you first come in anyway. They had a kind of a balcony thing. They had a piano in there, too. The building was starting to look a little dated and needed some upgrades.
