"I like that Atria Lafayette Hill was very clean. The people were very friendly. When I walked in, I didn't feel like I was going into a nursing home. I felt like I was coming into an apartment more so than some of the other places. What I liked about Atria was the fact that it was age-in-place. You can stay in the apartment if you need personal care or if you need any kind of physical assistance. The only time you have to move out of that apartment is if you have to go into memory care. I like the idea that my brother can possibly stay there for a while, and he wouldn't have to move locations. So that's very nice, and I like that. The other thing I like about them is that they don't have a buy-in. They had a community fee that was whatever the rent was for the month. And it only has a hundred rooms, so to me, that wasn't that big. And it was pleasing to the eye. I like the idea that it's a la carte. If they need a little bit of assistance, it's this much more amount, or if they need medication, it's this much more amount. And the staff who gave the tour was amazing. She spent a lot of time with me, and answered all my questions. She was very informative. If she didn't have an answer, she looked it up for me and she got back to me. So that was impressive."

"I have chosen Springfield Senior Living for my father. The rooms are good-sized and pretty spacious. My father is in memory care, so they have sections that you have to go through a door, and you need a code in order to go through that door. The Alzheimer's patients can't go beyond that door because they won't remember their code. I thought that was pretty cool. For the elevators, you need codes and stuff, too. It's a very, very clean place. The memory care had their own dining room. The staff members are very nice, very helpful, and very informative. I asked all kinds of questions, and they were very quick to answer the questions and didn't hesitate. It is a private place. I didn't see any activities, but my father said they do activities. They have a paper of what they do daily. As for the value for the money, I'm definitely getting the worth of it. They get three meals a day, the activities, and the care that he needs. It's helpful for me."

"We looked at Wesley Enhanced Living at Stapeley. The tour was excellent. We had dinner there with some residents, and we liked it. The facility seemed well maintained."

"My wife moved into Sunrise of Haverford a week ago. They seem to be very nice to her, and she's getting very good care. They put her in a wheelchair or a regular chair, and she's sitting up as much as possible, and they try to involve her in activities. She's not just stuck in a bed permanently. They seem very pleasant and professional. The memory care unit has lots of activities, and they try to get them involved, and the people are extremely nice. They do singing, little exercises, and batting a balloon around. The food seems really good and very plentiful. For breakfast, they gave her sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, and a pancake. They have a little courtyard for the memory care residents. And when the weather is good, they take them out in wheelchairs."

"Symphony Square was beautiful, it was a lovely place. The director was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions. She showed us the rooms and the dining area. The dining area was beautiful, they had silverware and glass and not plastics. They take care of the residents and it's actually a more intimate community which is very nice. They were all lovely people. They have karaoke nights, arts and crafts, they paint together, and there were a lot of cognitive therapy that they do that are fun stuff. They also take the residents on outings. We saw them doing karaoke when we showed up, and everyone looked happy participating. It was also a combination of assisted living and memory care, so everyone got to participate in it."

"My tour at Sunrise of Dresher was useful. It was nice and clean. The staff was wonderful and they gave me a good tour. I think it was cost-effective so I'm on the right track. I wasn't able to try the food but the menu looks good, and I could see that they have good menu options. They had bingo, puzzles, and stuff. It seems like there are a lot of things for them to do and a lot of activities. I looked at both memory care and assisted living."

"We live at The Quadrangle, and we are extremely happy. We are in a cottage. We've been here for eight years. We wouldn't want to be anywhere else. We have all the support we need for any problem that we have. This is a physically beautiful community with 70 acres of woodland. We have trails around. I ride an electric cart, and I can ride all around the fire road. We have a pond. We have very active activities, all organized by the residents. The Quadrangle emphasizes the life of the mind. Most of our residents are highly educated, formerly people in education and business. We have a common dining room, and we have a grill, and you can eat at either place. You have to have reservations for the dining room. It's very elegant. We think the food is wonderful, it's healthy, and has many choices. Since we live in a cottage and my husband and I are still well and in good health, we generally get our dinner and bring it back to the cottage so that we can eat privately. We have just undergone an extensive internal renovation of the facility, and this summer, there will be an external renovation of more plantings and more designs. We have over 70 activities."

"I liked everything about Fountain View at Logan Square. The location was fantastic. They have a parking garage. The rooms were a nice size. They had a washer and dryer in the room. The rent was a little expensive, but the facilities were nice and clean. The person who took us around was wonderful. He knew his business. A couple of the other people we met were very good. I liked Fountain View. The food looked very appetizing. The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and they seemed to know the people that they passed in the hallway. They were friendly, and they knew about other facilities. They tell you, "You should try this one," or "Did you go there?" The atmosphere was very nice. Some of the residents I saw knew each other."

"I'm moving into Crescent Fields at Huntingdon Valley. I love it, and it's the most reasonable one out of all of them. You only pay $3,000 to put a down payment, and then you pay $6,000 a month for a two-bedroom. They only had two-bedrooms left, and I got one. It's a nice size, and it's beautiful. Everything is really nice, so I'm very happy. Everything is included. They have three meals a day, they have entertainment, they have a movie theater, they have a private dining room, and they do trips. I had lunch there. I can't say it was the best, but it's OK. Nevertheless, they were very courteous and very caring to all their people. I don't really know any of the staff members other than the salespeople and the girls at the front desk, but the kitchen people were very, very sweet. They're very pleasant, very cheerful, very nice, and willing to help you. Everything was immaculate, too."

"The people at St. Mary Center For Rehabilitation & Healthcare were wonderful, very helpful, very knowledgeable, very professional, very amiable, personable, and very concerned that I learned what I would need to know to see if my father would be comfortable. The rooms were wonderful. Each room has its own mailbox. The studio was not too small. I thought it was the perfect size for my dad. They have a nice bathroom, nice storage, and you get your own door out into the courtyard. There's a couch there, and it's gorgeous. Their campus is like 22 acres, and they have various courtyards and barbecue areas, things that come alive a little more in the late spring and summer. They have their own little cement patios in each unit, so they can sit out and watch the birds, get some fresh air, and see what the neighbors are up to. It was just an upbeat place. They got a salon. It just seems like you wouldn't have to go anywhere if you were there. It's a very neat dining setup where it looks like a diner. I would love to go there every day. They have three squares and snacks, but they have a setup where they have like napkins, ketchup and mustard, and salt and pepper. It's very user-friendly."

"I toured Daylesford Crossing. It's a wonderful place, with wonderful people and very modern-looking rooms. The staff knows every resident by name, so everybody is on a first-name basis. They took me to their physical therapy room and event room. They were doing some events when I got there. They were having a magic show. They didn't have the level of care that my parents needed, but it was one of the top ones that we liked. They had a very small library. They had someone come once a week to do hair and nails. The gym was the physical therapy room, so it was a smaller room. It was more like an apartment building."

"My mother has moved into Springfield Crossings. She is doing very well. The staff members are awesome. We love them. She is in a newly renovated room, so it's nice. We're having some issues getting some maintenance done. As far as the facility itself, it's a bit older. It needs some work. The dining area is set up like a restaurant. I have not tried the meals, but my mother loves the food. They have lots of different activities. I think she has participated in some of them. They have bingo, music, movies, and crafts. They're right off the highway, so it's secure. It's reasonably priced."
