Assisted Living Communities in Danville, PA

"The Hillside looked to be a great assisted living facility. The atmosphere was very good and one of the major things my grandparents enjoyed about it. They had arts and crafts, several other get events which would allow them to meet other people. One major advantage was full sized kitchens, several other places that they looked at only had small/half kitchens. The only downside was it does have an old feel to it with the furniture, but it may make my grandparents feel more at home. All the food is included when living in the Hillside which can be a very good thing depending on each persons situation. If they are not capable of making their own food it is something you will not have to worry about they get 3 meals a day, and I believe a few snacks. As mentioned before there is a full kitchen to make your own meals. They have 24/7 emergency services which is one of the most important features any family would want to have for their loved ones to know they are in good hands. Overall this is a very nice assisted living facility. "

"Mother was at Emmanuel Center for about a month, and it was better, nicer, cleaner, and safer. The staff was better than average. I guess, she is in the beginnings of dementia. Her issue is that she would think that people didn’t take care of her in a timely manner, but we as her family thought that they were much better. I just admire the work that they tried to do with the patients. "

"This is the cleanist Long Term Care facility I have ever been in! Everywhere I look I see a housekeeper. Pleasant, friendly environment. Staff are neatly dressed and professional. Management is very friendly and welcoming. The Therapy Department is impressive with simulation areas (a bedroom,handicapped bathroom, and kitchen area). There is also a small store to buy snacks, cards, etc in the lobby. It is refreshing (to say the least) to see the pride the staff has for this home and their residents! "

"My husband has been in Orangeville Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for a month now. Just like every nursing home in the area, they need more people to work there and they're looking. Right now, I don't think they're hiring anybody extra because of COVID. Everything's kind of shut down for now, but he's adjusting. He's enjoying having a roommate. The nurses are wonderful. The staff is exceptional. The only problem is they don't have enough people working there and I'm pretty sure that's the case everywhere. The food is OK, some days are better than others. It's very clean, but they do not have central air, which completely boggles my mind. When Medicare was finished with their 20 days of providing physical therapy, they told me that from then on, it would cost me $400 a day for two hours of physical therapy and that really kind of blew my mind. The staff members are very nice, and they're working very hard. They're trying to take care of everybody as best they can with the time that they have. Yesterday, the dinner was beautiful. They have an outside area that looks very nice. They have some areas with nice big windows so that they can look out on the outdoors, which is nice. I just think they charge more than anybody else around or at least no less."

"My father is in Rockwell Retirement Center. The rooms are beautiful. It is an old school house, which they redid. The rooms are in very good size. The staff is very much accommodating. My father does not go down for activities. He is on ten liters of oxygen, and he just cannot do it, but they offer a lot of activities. He likes the food. The dining area is very nice. I recommend them. Rockwell is the best: 100%. "

"My mom had her physical therapy as Mt. Carmel Nursing Rehab Center. They also had the medical part to make sure that she was okay from the stroke the she had in her spine. The people there were very professional. They were very helpful and respectful. They had her on a schedule and they made sure that she had her therapy. They also took care of her diabetes and coumadin and everything else she needed medically. They provided activities for the patients. They even had her do some chopping and stuff to help make soup. The room that she was in was very clean and neat. I had nothing negative to say about them. "

"From my experience at the facility, I have a mostly positive opinion on how they conducted things. My mother had told me how much care they gave to their residents, and the stress that went along with the job. From my touring of the facility, I saw that most of the workers were on the job and not slacking or looking unhappy. The only reason I did not rate it five stars was because the facility was not exactly the most glamorous and according to my mother some of her coworkers could be a little mean to the residents from time to time. Other than that, everything seemed to be in top shape. They used fairly new equipment and the facility itself was kept quite clean. From what I saw, most of the residents seemed happy too which I feel is very important in a place like this. My mother herself also seemed happy with her job and helping the people there. Overall I liked what I saw at Riverwoods and would even consider sending a loved-one there if they needed the assistance. "

"I loved the person at Buffalo Valley -- I think her name was Gretchen. She invited Cathy and I down, and we had lunch with her and her dog. They had a continuum of care where you could go to different levels. That was beautiful also. It just didn't have all the added amenities. It had some, but it didn't have an art studio. I went to the independent living facility. The cottages were perfect. They were beautiful. They were in the right size, the right shape, and the right colors. Before you move, you would choose the paint colors and the carpet. They would put a new carpet down for you. Everything was brand new when you moved in. When we were there, the people were out walking with their pets, and they would wave as you went by. It is a "want to be there" and not a "dumped there" place. Everything was so nice and clean. There was storage unit outside that was attached to the apartment. I was sure they had a yarn, sewing, or quilting club. However, I couldn't afford the cost. "

"The Manor at Penn Village is very close to my home, and I have known other families who had parents there. They were very pleased with the facility and I am also very pleased with it. The nurses are very thoughtful and they really look after the residents. I can call anytime, and they don't get annoyed with me when I call to check on my mother, because she's having a difficult time since her sister is also ill. So I also had my aunt there. My aunt and my mother were extremely close. And the nurses knew this. So when my aunt passed away the day after Christmas, they went the extra mile to be with my mother to help her through this difficult time. The facility is very clean and up to date. They serve fantastic meal and they offer a lot of activities for the residents. My mother gets her hair done every week. They try to make the residents feel it's like their home. They even have a chapel there. I've been very happy with it. I have no complaints. "

"I like the Wolf Run Village’s location as it is near to me and the cost i good. We thought it was wonderful, and the facility looked wonderful. They are very helpful in giving us our options. The rooms are great, and they had a huge dining room. I like the atmosphere, and there is room to move around. "

"My Dad moved into Shenandoah Senior Living last year. Nursing staff is kind and caring and always available. Rooms are large and clean. Facility is Clean and modern. All staff I have met are friendly and helpful. Therapy room is well equipped. Food menu could be better, but meals are timely and staff always assist in prepping food as my Dad needs help. Activities include multiple bingo and game sessions a week, various visits musical guests (including a poka band). A craft room is also available. Each room has a seperate HVAC split unit for custom temperature control if warmer or cooler temperature is desired from general facility."

"Heritage Mills Personal Care and Memory Assistance Center is very homey and very close to my home, which is the reason why we chose that one for my mom. She's in a semi-private room with a nice view and she's getting therapy there. She's doing very well after she had a stroke. The layout of her room is open. It's not segmented, like a tiny closet. It has a small partition wall between where the beds would be. They have their own bathroom that's very big with a walk-in shower and rails for the toilet and sink, so she could get a shower right in her room. The staff is very caring. There are a lot of younger people and they work very well with her. They don't force her to do anything. They check on her at least a couple of times a shift. She said anytime she rings, they answer her bell. If she has to go to the toilet and she feels like she needs help, they're there to help her. They have at least two or three activities a day. Sometimes they watch a movie, do a trivia game, or go to their garden outside. The cost we're paying is worth it. I looked at a lot of different places that were over $3,000 a month and for a semi-private room that's only $2200 a month, which includes room and board, her television, all her meals, all her meds, and activities, I would recommend it to anybody that's looking for something like that. It's very clean. It doesn't smell. They also have a nice dining room. I had breakfast with her and the food's very good. She hasn't complained about anything. She said the food's always hot and the bacon's crisp."
