I visited the new Cottage at Woodland Hills, the old building on 21st is no longer- they have moved to a beautifully remodeled building that is in south Tulsa at 77th and Memorial and the building is great! I was surprised by the size of the therapy gym- it has a full kitchen and bathroom! The staff was super friendly too and they just opened a skilled nursing unit and it is really nice! I highly recommend them!

My mother spent 4 weeks at The Cottage for rehabilitation after a hospital stay. I should have known, on day 1 when the plaster fell from the ceiling in her room, that this stay was not going to be good one. Communication was a key factor lacking within this institution. It took two weeks to get most issues resolved: two weeks to get the diet revised from pureed to normal. Her diet was normal at time of hospital discharge. two weeks to get an order for PrepH from the doctor and have it applied when needed, by the staff. a month for the staff to see the signs saying "Family Will Do Laundry" and collect it in her room instead of sending it to the laundry room. Showers happened once a week but only after consistent requests by the family. There was NO communication between the rehab department, nursing, in-house doctor, and dietary departments. Each department worked independently of each other with not much regard toward the patient's needs, comfort and wants, where each department's focus should be. Despite the rehab department's discharge, Mom fell twice in the first two days at home. She has gained more ground doing PT and rehab at home, with family, in the last four days than she did during the entire month at The Cottage. There were signs that problems were being worked on and improved but it could still be a while for this nursing home to become a 3-star facility.

My very first impression about The Cottages was not good; it was not as nice as some others that I have seen as far as cosmetically, but the staff is really good. They have helped my 93-year-old dad who was in there a little under two months. We took him in, and when he came out, he walked out. They really gave him good therapy and good food. They called and checked on him at home. Also, my sister is in there now, and they give her a really good treatment because they like my dad so much. It is an older type of facility, but they are working on the building. A previous friend of ours had been there, and it is close to my house so I was also able to visit often.
