"Our experience with Southern Hills Retirement Community was really good. The lady who took us on the tour was very friendly and very informative. It probably could use an upgrade, but they were in the process of doing that. It was very clean and very nice. They have a library and a salon. They have activities that go on periodically throughout the month. They're pet friendly and they have an area for your dogs. They have a nice patio area to relax. They have a nice lounge area. They had a lot of very nice amenities."

"I toured the 5400 South Apartments in Tulsa, and it was fine. I like the place very much. The community center was not open, so I did not see that. It is a very nice place and very well maintained. The staff were very friendly. The one who accompanied me was very helpful."

"Scandia Retirement did not have consistent dining room service. It's also unfurnished, so you have to buy your own furniture. They take residents to their doctors' appointments and bring them back. If you give them a shopping list, they'll do some shopping for you for things you need in your refrigerator and room. If you want take-out food, they will go and pick it up and bring it to you."

"The Villages at Southern Hills was clean, well staffed, and easy to get around in. The staff seemed to be pretty good. They had a lot of activities for their residents. The food looked good. The dining room was nice and open. "

"My sister lived at Montereau and it was a very nice place. I liked that they had locked doors as their security system. There was a nurse 24/7 and a clerk. The dining room was gorgeous and they brought their own things in their rooms except cookware. The list of activities for the day were posted on a board, they took trips to the mall or grocery store. It seemed like the residents were happy there and I would recommend this place to others who needed that kind of assistance. "

"Woodland Manor Apartment Homes is a 55+. It was not quite what I was looking for, but it was nice. They only showed us one apartment, and it wouldn't accommodate some of my things. It's just right in town and in a commercial area. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They don't have meals. It's just apartments."

"On our first visit to the Country Club At Woodland Hills, everybody was very friendly. They invited us to lunch and the food was wonderful. I have observed that the people seemed very happy to live there. So, everyone seemed very at ease and at home. They had to replace the floors on the cottage my mother will be staying in, because the gentleman had just moved out, so they did that, painted it, and did a lot of updating. So, it was very nice. They have some exercise classes, art classes, knitting groups, and quite a few functions. They had a lady that came in and did the hair and nails, there's a pool, a game room, and some different spaces where they play cards and do things like that."

"My friend will be moving into the independent living apartments at Zarrow Pointe. It's gated, and the community is small. It's very walkable and they also have beautiful villas that if I were to choose something, I'd choose them. The independent living apartment is nice, but they're not as large. Everybody that I've met there has been very friendly and welcoming, plus, I have several friends that live there. We've eaten there, and I would rate the food a five. The people in the apartments, most of them eat all their meals there. The people in the villas probably do a mix; they have a certain amount for the meals. A lot of people in the villas just decide to eat on their own, in their homes. The dining area was like a restaurant. Then, they have another café; it's not as large, but it has a variety also. So, you have a couple of choices of places to go. They have a salon. They have many activities, lots of exercise, and two pools. A good part of them is they have a lot of lecture people coming in to give, lectures on things that are happening in Tulsa. It's a very varied amount of activities there. You would never get bored. My friend has a particular reason for wanting Zarrow Pointe, it's because it's a Jewish community and she would like to be in one."

"I thought that Senior Star at Woodland Terrace was very welcoming. The people were pleasant. It seemed to be very well-organized. I had a meal with them; the food was fine, and the portions were good. I was very impressed. I liked it. "

"Someone told me about the Park Village Retirement Community, so I looked it up and went there. I visited on a Saturday and it didn't seem like they had so much activity on their agenda. There wasn't much friendliness or camaraderie. They should have more activities planned, so residents could intermingle with each other. One woman was home and she let me look into her apartment. It was very small and more like a studio because you had to walk through the bedroom to get into the bathroom. I'd have to sell my refrigerator and dryer, which means I'd have to spend money every week on doing my laundry. And I'd have to give up so much if I were to move in there. The good thing about it though is that I don't have to worry about my house or cutting the grass and stuff like that. "

"My mother is in Cedarhurst of Woodland Hills. It's all independent living. It's very clean. They've got friendly front desk people or receptionists. They are very helpful like if she has the mail or a box or something that she can't get to her room, they're very helpful there at the front desk. They know her name when she comes down to eat. They always speak, "Good to see you," that type of thing. It's just very inviting. Her apartment is a one-bedroom, and it's fairly new. It's got a great kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. It's airy. It's got a big sliding glass door to go out on the balcony. She has her own washer dryer facility in there and a nice-sized bedroom with a closet. It's very convenient. She's very convenient to the elevator. It's not a long walk to anything. It's just very nice. It's well taken care of. They have activities going on all the time. The activity director is fabulous. She keeps them busy. They have games, and they have a Valentine's banquet-type thing in the dining room. Recently, she puts pictures on Facebook, so I can see if mom's there and she's always attending things. They do bingo. They have a piano in the dining room, they have people come in and give concerts, every Friday afternoon, they have cookies or cake or something with wine for the residents to enjoy and just sit around and socialize, and they have a choir. A man comes in and leads the choir for them. Every day, there's something on the calendar to do. We're very happy with it. The food is very good. I've eaten there several times when I'm visiting mom and they have a menu every day with different choices. She enjoys it. They have a cleaning crew on-staff that they do other things also, so it's not like a cleaning company that comes in and they're not the best at cleaning her apartment. The dining room and the lobby and everything else is very clean, shining, and smell good. They just don't do a whole lot in the individual apartment."

"Pythian Manor West was recommended by a friend and I went to visit the place. The facility was very well-kept and in excellent condition. The two staff I met were efficient and they explained everything to me. The bedroom had a pull cord in case of emergencies which would notify the staff. The bathroom had a bathtub and a handrail which I needed, and another handrail near the toilet. The activity room had a television, tables for eating, a vending machine, piano and organ. Anyone who was musically inclined could play the piano and organ. They also had two laundry facilities. However, they did not serve meals. "

"My sister will move into Forest Hills Assisted & Independent Living. The best thing is the price. It was very clean, and everyone that we met was very nice. They had everything, a dining area, an outside area, and a gardening area. The staff was very nice and very helpful."
