"Someone told me about the Park Village Retirement Community, so I looked it up and went there. I visited on a Saturday and it didn't seem like they had so much activity on their agenda. There wasn't much friendliness or camaraderie. They should have more activities planned, so residents could intermingle with each other. One woman was home and she let me look into her apartment. It was very small and more like a studio because you had to walk through the bedroom to get into the bathroom. I'd have to sell my refrigerator and dryer, which means I'd have to spend money every week on doing my laundry. And I'd have to give up so much if I were to move in there. The good thing about it though is that I don't have to worry about my house or cutting the grass and stuff like that. "

"My son and I visited Scandia Retirement Community in August of 2013. We were very impressed with the cleanliness of the apartments and also the transpiration provided for people who don't drive. I moved here in September of 2013. I have enjoyed preparing some of my meals and am also aware that Scandia is close to many places to eat. some of them within walking distance. They will also pick up prepared meals for you or take you to the grocery store to buy supplies. Scandia is surrounded by grocery stores, a library, a doctor's office, and a beauty shop. "Pythian Manor West was recommended by a friend and I went to visit the place. The facility was very well-kept and in excellent condition. The two staff I met were efficient and they explained everything to me. The bedroom had a pull cord in case of emergencies which would notify the staff. The bathroom had a bathtub and a handrail which I needed, and another handrail near the toilet. The activity room had a television, tables for eating, a vending machine, piano and organ. Anyone who was musically inclined could play the piano and organ. They also had two laundry facilities. However, they did not serve meals. "

"Woodland Manor Apartment Homes is a 55+. It was not quite what I was looking for, but it was nice. They only showed us one apartment, and it wouldn't accommodate some of my things. It's just right in town and in a commercial area. The staff was pleasant and helpful. They don't have meals. It's just apartments."

"We toured Southern Hills Retirement Community. I liked it real well. I may have chosen that because everything looked good over there. It was comfortable. The person who took me around was a very nice lady who had a cute little hat on, so that was always cute. She took us to two different apartments, and one had a pretty flower garden outside and was well taken care of, and the other one didn't. She knew all the answers to the questions we asked her. She's just very good at her job. I was looking for a studio room and that's what they showed me. During the tour, there were four ladies playing cards. They told us about things that they have. We saw a courtyard. It looked nice. I was impressed with everything."

"5400 South is just a senior apartment. I was impressed with this place and it looked nice. They had a nice location and helpful staff who gave us a tour. They don't serve meals there or anything like that. "

"Country Club of Woodland Hills has gorgeous flowers surrounding their facilities, which helps cheer the people up. They have a courtyard and a swimming pool. They have flowers all year round. The place is clean and the rooms have a lot of light. She has a little porch she can go out on and sit on. The food is average. It's like cafeteria food. The food is fresh, but there's not enough variety. They have new staff members and they went up 5% in their prices. She moved in there over a year ago. The activity director is a sweetheart. They have a wonderful musician that comes in and they have parties, like social hour every Friday. If I was retired, I would live here."

"My mother was living in The Villages at Southern Hills when she got sick, and they allowed her to return to her own apartment there. We've done three convalescences there and we were happy with the place, that's why we went back. The staff that we deal with there is extraordinary and we're very pleased with them, but we don't quite feel quite the same way with the kitchen. She's in her own apartment and they allowed us to provide her 24-hour care for her there. After we did her rehab there, we were impressed enough with them. And that's when we moved out of the house and moved her into an apartment in their independent living section. We've been in their rehab twice, we've been in their skilled nursing once, and we're now back in our apartment. So we feel like we live there. They've been very generous to us. The reason for my rating would be the food and definitely not the staff. The nursing staff, housekeeping staff, those folks are wonderful to us and wonderful to her. The food is just not extraordinary. So the staff taking care of her I'd give a 5, but the kitchen I'd give a 3. They have activities and the facade of the place is very fine; it's lovely."

"I have toured several places for my Mom and, after touring Cedarhurst, I knew I didn't need to look further. The entire place was so lovely and pleasing and the rooms were very well designed. Spoke with some of the residents and they were very comfortable with their "home" and especially loved all the social activities within the community for the residents. The staff was very informative and even I felt comfortable being there. All in all, for the price and what is included in the amenities, Cedarhurst is definitely the place for my Mom."

"Montereau is a retirement assisted living facility. You buy in to the facility and the cost of that ranges from about $350,000 up to $600,000, or $6,000 to $7,000 a month, but you're talking about a place with marble everywhere and granite countertops. It's like you're on a cruise every day."

"My 93 year old mother is in her second month as a resident . She was concerned about moving from her home to one room. She has organized it and has enjoyed her bed , chair, and love seat . The spacious bathroom has made everything so much easier for her. The room has multiple emergency call buttons for her and her families peace of mind. The food is very good and healthy. The staff has been extremely helpful and friendly. She and her family feel we are very fortunate to have a new home for mom!"

"My friend will be moving into the independent living apartments at Zarrow Pointe. It's gated, and the community is small. It's very walkable and they also have beautiful villas that if I were to choose something, I'd choose them. The independent living apartment is nice, but they're not as large. Everybody that I've met there has been very friendly and welcoming, plus, I have several friends that live there. We've eaten there, and I would rate the food a five. The people in the apartments, most of them eat all their meals there. The people in the villas probably do a mix; they have a certain amount for the meals. A lot of people in the villas just decide to eat on their own, in their homes. The dining area was like a restaurant. Then, they have another café; it's not as large, but it has a variety also. So, you have a couple of choices of places to go. They have a salon. They have many activities, lots of exercise, and two pools. A good part of them is they have a lot of lecture people coming in to give, lectures on things that are happening in Tulsa. It's a very varied amount of activities there. You would never get bored. My friend has a particular reason for wanting Zarrow Pointe, it's because it's a Jewish community and she would like to be in one."
