"My husband was at Elderwood at Grand Island for rehab. It was great. It was better than the other rehab facility he had been in. I was very pleased. It was very clean. There was no hospital kind of smell. The staff was very friendly. They took good care of you. It was very nice. I only had a couple of meals with him. They have a separate area if you're having a meal with a loved one and it's just across from where all the other patients are having dinner with each other. The staff would get the tray of food and give it to them and then they would circulate it around to make sure people were eating and were OK with what they had on their plate. If you wanted something else, you just needed to ask one of the staff who were monitoring the meal and they would get it for you. He was in there for occupational and physical therapy. That's pretty much all he did, and they were fine. He was discharged because he had been continually improving. Whenever he was about to go into a therapy session and I was there, they would ask me if I had any questions or concerns and I didn't. They always did it in a respectful manner, and they were very diligent and professional about how they carried it out."

"My mother is in Beechwood Homes & Wesley Rehabilitation Center. It has different levels of care. It's the same facility where she is for rehab, so the transition was easy. As of today, she's still in the rehab center, but at the end of the week, she will be transferring to the skilled nursing. Some of the staff are more caring and patient than others. Some of the food items are decent and some are not. There's a courtyard. It's a clean facility. It's near restaurants and near hospitals."

"I've talked with my cousins about Schofield Residence Nursing Home as my aunt was there a couple of years ago and they were very pleased with everything they did. My father and I went over to the place and talked with them. We are very happy with the visit. The people that are working there are very pleasant. They seemed to always have a smile on their face and you can tell from the body language that they enjoy being there. They were having lunch when we went to visit, so went to the cafeteria and we saw the place they were serving and the food was very good. They gave us a list with all the activities and everybody is included in the activity, not just the people that are in better shape. We are going to be able to do some voluntary work when we go to visit her, so we are looking forward to that as well. "

"The care here is very good. The staff is caring and professional. The food is good. There is no odor that you find in many nursing homes. The communication with family is excellent. We are glad my mother has found a welcoming place."

"At the Sheridan Manor the staff is very friendly. They handle the elderly with care and love. They do many fun activities with them, such as arts and crafts and casino night. They have great flexible visiting hours. The patients are aloud to leave with their families without any problems. Overall I believe it is one of the best facilities in the area. I have heard many complaints from other places, but none from the Sheridan Manor. My grandfather really seems to enjoy it there. Every time i visit him he always has a great story about his stay. He has made friends with other residents and the great staff. I would definitely recommend The Sheridan Manor to anybody in the Buffalo area. "

"Briody Health Care Facility was very nice, and it was a really clean place. I think their physical therapy was really good. I went in the physical therapy room and spent a little time in it, and it seemed like a really nice room. I liked the woman who showed me around. She was very personable. "

"My mom was in skilled nursing at McAuley Residence. The experience was very good. The rooms were good. The staff was very, very informative and very respectful. They were really good, and they were good to her. It was a good nursing home. I liked the way it was set up, and the staff members were very, very honest about things about her when I asked questions about her. They were always answering the phone, taking care of her, and doing things for me that I couldn't do. It was very good. I was very happy with it. The food was good. They had programs, and they had parties. They did things with the residents. They always got her up and put her in her chair. They were very respectful and very knowledgeable."

"My mom is staying in the Elderwood Senior Care for a couple months, but she'll be getting out next week. She's getting excellent care in there. The facility, the staff, and the food are all top-notch. "

"When I was there at Elderwood at Williamsville for rehab, they were good. I like my experience. At that time, they just needed more hands on deck. It would have been better for the residents and the people who were coming in like myself, even though I only stayed at least a good 21 days, it's always good to have that extra help, more hands. When I was in rehab, everything was well until I went home. I had a bad experience. It was with the social worker and she told me what day I was going to go home. I told her since no one was home because it was just me, I'm going to use your van to get me home. She said no problem. I had told her early enough to have it scheduled. She came in to see me. It was the day that I was supposed to go home and I had all of my stuff ready and I was trying to get myself ready. She said, "I'm sorry, but you're going to have to call a friend or a neighbor or somebody to come and get you because I wasn't going to be able to use the van." I said, "Well, why didn't you tell me ahead of time so I could have called someone to do that instead of all of this excuse me at the last minute." She was not nice. I asked to speak to the head of nursing. They did come to see me, and I explained the situation. So, I had to stay another day because I wasn't able to get a hold of somebody. She came in and apologized first thing in the morning, and I almost accepted her apology, but it was her tone. She was very unprofessional. She didn't show any kind of compassion at all concerning the circumstances. The food was pretty good. The facility, I think they kept pretty clean. I was just operated so I probably wouldn't have been able to participate anyway, but I do know that they do have activities there."

"Canterbury Woods Williamsville was very exquisite. They had a lot of amenities, such as a bank, a hair salon, and concerts. The facilities were pristine. We had lunch there, and the food was excellent. The staff was very pleasant. They gave us an introduction about the costs because some of the units have a 5-year waiting list. They do everything for you, but it's also pricey."
