Elderwood at Wheatfield

When we placed my mom at Elderwood in Wheatfield it was one of the best facilities for dementia. Sadly, it has declined terribly. It is extremely understaffed. My mom’s dementia unit with 20 patients frequently has only one aide and sometimes that aide also has the 20 additional dementia patients on the other side. Some of the aides hide in the utility room and aren’t on the floor for extended periods of time. I have spent thousands of dollars on clothes for mom as they keep “disappearing.” Currently she is missing 5 pairs of jog pants. I put in for reimbursement of 3 hoodies last March. I am still wsiting for reimbursement 7 months later. It is impossible to reach anyone at corporate office. I and my 4 daughters are checking on mom 5 days per week. So sad and frustrating.
